GESCHICHTE
Alexander Moore, II.

My family of 7, one under 2 years stayed together here for a baby shower in Statesville. There was plenty of space for the local family and friends to join us. The kitchen was large enough for three cooks to chop and prepare meals.
This is a very old home remodeled for modern families. We all had a good time walking trails on the property and playing pickleball!

Lovely property!
Our family took full advantage of our surroundings! We spent time fishing on the dock (and even caught a fish!), playing tennis and pickleball, and exploring the grounds! We had a lot of great family time in the large, well appointed farm kitchen. Overall a great family getaway!

Our family (7 adults) spent 3 nights at the historic Moore farmhouse. We loved the privacy afforded by the 140 wooded acres and enjoyed the spring weather surrounded by nature. We rocked on the porch, explored the woods, and my husband enjoyed catching and releasing about a dozen bass at the pond. The house, built in the 19th century, is owned by descendants of the same original family. The interior was thoughtfully renovated recently with high-quality features but without losing the charm and quirks of such an old structure. The history of the property is fascinating, and there are historic photos throughout the house. I enjoyed talking with the current owner, and the property manager responded quickly when we had questions.

The property was perfect for our family Thanksgiving stay. Everything was better than described. Lot of property to explore and hike on the trails. The kids had a blast catching bass in the pond. Adults enjoyed a lot of time on the pickleball court. Owner was very nice and responsive. We will definitely stay at this property again if we are in the area.

Very charming home with lots of history. Enjoyed the striping on the tennis court to allow for playing pickleball. Appreciated every bedroom having a full bath.

We just got back from a lovely vacation with our five kids and pup. This house was the perfect getaway for our crew. Everything was exactly as listed. We wanted space to spread out, many outdoor options to play and explore, and a cozy place to build new memories as a family. We all enjoyed every minute. Thank you to the Moore family for letting us stay at your beautiful property.

My granddaughter and I were so excited about the property that we took a 1 1/2 hour hike before even going inside the house. That was our first hike but not the only one. It was nice to be away from the crowds and the grandkids loved playing wiffle ball and other games in the huge yard. The house was built in the 1800’s and had plenty of room for all eight of us plus a dog. It has a log cabin feel even though it is big. The kitchen is up to date and it felt like home since our home was built in 1907. There’s lots of history there.

We thoroughly enjoyed the farmhouse. Lots of nice space, and beautiful little body of water, and a canoe, lots of grounds for the kids to play on. The kitchen was nice and spacious so we could all cook together and eat together. The knives are a little dull and the range seems to only recognize bigger heavier pots, but that didn’t set us back. We figured things out. Definitely sharpen the knives please. Lots of dishes and cooking tools. The dock could use an upgrade, we were a little worried about putting too much weight on it.
John was lovely and responsive and even came by to say hello. They left us a lovely bottle of wine or as well, as a welcome.
The property was a little far from the things we wanted to go to, but the pay off was this beautiful large, blissful piece of land with deer and rabbits, firebugs, and frogs. Just loved it.

My family stayed on the estate for a weekend while we were in town for a wedding. The history of the estate and large grounds were wonderful and relaxing to enjoy!

We had a wonderful stay at the Farmhouse with my four adult kids and two little ones. Plenty of space inside and out. The house and kitchen were fully stocked with everything we needed (might want to update the knife set; they were super dull). Would love to stay again. Check-in and out were seamless. Thank you for opening up your family home to allow us to enjoy the property.

What an amazing place! Even though the weather didn't cooperate as well as we hoped we still had a wonderful time! The kids enjoyed exploring the property, fishing, and the tennis court. Plenty to keep them busy! Communication with the owners and property manager was fantastic and quick to respond if any issues. We would love to stay here again!!

We stayed at the Homestead for the week of Thanksgiving and had our family of five there. The house was extremely comfortable and all linens and beddings were clean and fresh. The kitchen was very well stocked as we had Thanksgiving dinner there and had plenty of pots, pans, dishes, etc... The property was amazing with the pond and hiking trails. We loved it and highly recommend this to any family for a special gathering.

7 people and 2 dogs enjoyed the beautiful historic homestead over Labor Day weekend. Plenty of space to hang out together inside and out. Fabulous kitchen, dining room and living room and porches to relax. Tennis court, fish pond, walking trails and lots of room for outdoor games we brought along. Dogs had a blast exploring the woods. 4 bedrooms and adjoining bathrooms were roomy, comfy and a good night's sleep was guaranteed!
Well equipped kitchen, outdoor grill, and plenty of fridge/freezer space made meal prep a breeze. Great local bar grill on the river 1/2 mile away. We will definitely go back! Kent was super responsive when we had a question.

our stay at the Moreland Homestead was incredible. What a beautiful property! My daughter was married in maiden North Carolina and we called this place home for the weekend! The house was beautifully equipped and well-suited for the eight people we had staying there. It was almost like stepping back in time with a modern touch!! We had the privilege of meeting the owners who stopped by to see if we had everything we needed which was a real treat! We appreciated that so much! The property manager Kent was very responsive and super helpful and I would recommend this property!

Amazing Property
This property was such a fantastic place to stay. We had 8 total folks staying for a tennis tournament in the lake Norman area. We enjoyed the 4 bedroom 4 bathroom layout. It is definitely a historic house as well. That being said all the appliances/ kitchens/ bathroom are up to date. The property itself has a nice little pier with lake access and a kayak. We did not spend time in the water but it looks like you can do so. We also did not take advantage of the hiking trails but we were able to see them. It’s a peaceful property!! We will likely be back with some other friends in the future!

Four of us and a big dog thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing weekend at Mooreland. The bluebirds, crows, chickadees, nuthatches, hummingbirds, wild turkeys and bunnies kept us company as we lounged on the front porch most mornings and evenings. We cooked big meals in the well-appointed kitchen (with an induction stove) and slept soundly on the comfortable beds after enjoying hot showers. We walked the grounds and trails during the day and watched the stars at night near the dock. It was just what we needed.

Exploring the property was really enjoyable. The owners called us prior to our arrival to welcome us. I did have to call them several times over our Thanksgiving 4 day stay and that’s the reason for an overall lower star rating. First was to mention there were quite a few lady bugs wanting a place to crash. Our toddler was enthusiastic about them. Then the downstairs furnace went from blowing hot air to cold. Neighbors swung by with space heaters which got us by until then next day. The service repair man was knowledgeable and fixed the furnace. Right before we checked out the water pressure dropped. The owners were very apologetic and kind. This is an old charming home with sincerely appreciative owners and our family made the best of it. The modern amenities wanted a holiday too I guess.

Our family just returned from renting this property for 5 weeks in July and we feel in love. The house is charming. It has all the modern features with the charm of an 1800 farmhouse. The property is magnificent. From the pond (literally stocked full with fish), to the tennis court, to the cut walking trails and that front porch... it never disappointed. We watched deer every morning and fireflies every evening. We were 3 adults and 2 teenagers. The house has great wifi, amazing a/c, comfy beds and the ensuite bathrooms all made the stay wonderful. The location is great. Walking distance to Lake Norman's Long Island Board and Paddle to rent kayaks and canoes and The Waterside Bar and Grill for delicious food and a great deck looking over Lake Norman. During our stay we did many a daytrip (Ashville - Winston-Salem - Charlotte) and the house was perfectly situated close enough to the major freeways to be convenient. We were sad to leave! We hope to return soon. On another note, the owners, John and Kent were amazing in every aspect. Thank you for sharing your family home. We hope to return soon! The Mercer Family

This was such an enjoyable experience for our family. Thank you Moore family for sharing your home!
We enjoyed every part of our experience in the Moore home. Whether it was the day we spent on their very well stock pond catching beautiful bass, or the days we spent playing tennis in their very well maintained tennis court. Inside we found the home well stocked with everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. Book this beautiful home as you won’t regret it, it’s so close to Lake Norman but secluded away from everyone. Its just a beautiful slice of Heaven. K
Thanks Moore family for everything!
