The Buoy House is the perfect vacation for anyone looking for a peaceful spot along the Delaware Bay. The views are fantastic from every room, the house itself is in pristine condition, and the owners are terrific. Looking forward to returning in the spring.

Clean, spacious house with an excellent view of water on both sides! Very relaxing and rejuvenating. Perfect for families with kids who enjoy building sand castles, swimming, beach combing, kayaking, and watching birds. Host responds quickly and is very welcoming. Quiet, Private beach with fabulous star gazing. Definitely recommend!

Our family chose to stay here for a quick end of summer getaway. It was a great location to enjoy the private beach or take a 20-25 minute drive to more public beaches and boardwalk. Just be sure to bring your bug spray, the green flies can be distracting.

This was our second year staying for a week at this property on peaceful and relaxing Prime Hook Beach. We are still impressed with how well-stocked this rental is with everything you need to make yourself at home and have fun on the beach. The beds are comfortable, the view is amazing, and the owners continue to improve the property. Since we had last stayed here in 2022, the owners had remodeled both bathrooms. This year we spent more time enjoying the screened-in porch—it’s a great place to relax. We absolutely love visiting this house and hope to come back again in the future!

If you want to walk outside and be on the beach this is the spot for you. It's removed from any real kind of beach-town kitsch and just super simple and lovely.

This house is a must-book if you love the beach but hate having to travel to one. Just walk out the back door and you're a couple hundred feet from the water. You can leave your beach gear down by the water and shoot inside for the bathroom, lunch, or just a break. The beach never had more than 15 people on it for the whole stretch of beach. We had a couple of nice thunderstorms roll through which were crazy to watch. One day the flies were a bit much, due to the wind blowing west to east, so we took a ride to Dewey Beach for lunch and then Bethany Beach for stuff to do with the kids. The main town area, which is about 15 min away has a Food Lion, Walgreens, and Family Dollar. The house has all the stuff you need to cook if you so choose. We used the BBQ a couple times and it was great. Fishing, on Route 1 south of Primehook Rd is a great tackle shop in the Valero gas station lot. I got a basic surf casting setup for $49 and spent another $30 on tackle. We caught a few fish, nothing worth keeping, but the kids loved it. At any time, we could just walk down to the water and toss a line in.....probably the best part of the trip. In town, you MUST eat at both Dough Bar and Irish Eyes Pub. The only annoying part was the number of mosquitos under the house where you park your car. Unloading and loading the luggage was a death sentence with bug bites and then they'd be in the car. Other than that, the trip and house were perfect. We look forward to staying again.

Very clean and well equipped beach house. The owners literally thought of everything that one could possibly enjoy or utilize. The owners were so easy to work with and made some terrific suggestions. We would certainly rent this home again!! Thanks Gunnar!

Our first stay at the Buoy House, but not our last! We could not have designed a more ideal spot for our 4-year-old daughter's first trip to the ocean. House is perfectly appointed with all the comforts of home, with the beach just steps away. Beds were comfy so we all slept well! The owners said they had everything we needed for the beach and they didn't undersell--fully stocked with all the toys and beach equipment we could imagine and some things we wouldn't have even thought to bring! The location is calm and quiet, and a short drive to restaurants and attractions so the perfect blend. We even spotted dolphins right off the shore! And Gunnar and Dorothy were super communicative, which was really helpful since it was our first time in Prime Hook. As they warned us, being right on the shore brings bugs, so we did contend with the mosquitos. Just be mindful of the door when loading and unloading to try and keep them out. A minor nuisance that just goes with the territory. Our only regret was that our stay was so short. Five-star house, five-star hosts for this very special spot.

This was my 2nd stay at the Buoy House. This beautiful home has amazing Bay views and everything you need for escape from the busyness of life. The closeness of the beach is a plus. Gunnar is quick to respond to any communication and is desiring all his guests to have a wonderful time.

A hidden treasure on the Delaware Bay next to the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge. The house had every thing we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The view of the Bay from the house is amazing with beautiful sunrises. Be sure to bring food and drinks as the closest grocery is about 15 minutes away in Milton. The kitchen was stocked with the items needed to make and eat meals. Bring plenty of sunscreen and bug spray. With the proximity to marshland, the bugs can get pretty bad at times. However, the house’s screened in back porch allows you to be outdoors even when the bugs are bad. All of the beds we’re comfortable. The outdoor shower was a favorite to rinse of salt and sand from the beach. Jellyfish were already present in the Bay, bring swimwear to protect you and your family from stings. The water is relatively shallow except at high tide. I highly recommend this rental.

Wonderful time, beautiful home and great memories

If you are looking for quiet time away and your own space on the beach, this is the place to stay. The location is completely convenient for trips back to the house for lunch or to reapply sunscreen so you don’t have to haul everything with you for the day. There was plenty of beach gear available for use during our stay. We would absolutely stay here again.

We were in DE for a lacrosse tournament. It was a windy weekend, but still had a great stay.

Some of our happiest family memories are at the Buoy House. This was our fourth visit and it has been wonderful every time. Gunnar is an extremely considerate host, and we love Prime Hook.

We had a wonderful and relaxing time at the Buoy house. It is the perfect place to unwind and relax and it’s great for little kids and families. I loved that they could just play on the beach all day and we could see them from the deck. Tons of wildlife to look at and explore. It was our first beach bonfire also! The house was very comfortable (bed were so cozy!) and well stocked. And the view and breezes were amazing. Gunner was extremely accommodating and helpful. We will definitely stay again!

Second time back at this great property. Beautiful location with responsive and communicative owners. We enjoyed the bikes and the kids enjoyed all the beach toys. We had a wonderful week!

We've stayed here in spring & summer. Spending time in the fall was just as peaceful, relaxing, and the fireplace really shines. The house is spacious and the view of the ocean is very soothing.

Our goal for this trip was to have some quiet time by the water and take it easy. The house was actually bigger than we anticipated and literally right on the beach. It was very comfortable and the kitchen was wonderful for cooking. The rooms were comfortable and the outdoor space is great. Plus, we saw a lot of sand crabs, which was really fun. Gunnar was very communicative and kind.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at the Buoy House and are already planning a return trip. The house is perfectly equipped, and then some. We particularly enjoyed the kayaks, crab traps, fishing cart, and grill. The house offers all sorts of technology, but between the sound of the bay out back and the cicadas out front, we didn't use it at all. The location is a dream; remote, private and picturesque. We had a few stormy days, but even the rain days were incredible. Gunnar is a phenomenal host, super responsive and extremely well organized. We feel in love with Prime Hook and The Buoy House!

Prime Hook was a very relaxing place for a summer vacation and the Buoy House is the perfect house to enjoy Prime Hook Beach. The bay water is calm enough for kids to play in and the location in the middle of Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge makes for excellent bird watching. We were close enough to Lewes and Rehoboth Beach to enjoy attractions there if we wanted to, but when the crowds got annoying we could go back to Prime Hook and relax. Buoy House has all of the amenities you need to enjoy the beach, and the house is beautiful. The storage room under the house has every toy, chair and umbrella you'll need on the beach. The kitchen is well-equipped and we didn't lack for anything we needed to cook meals at the house. The view of the bay from the living room and deck is amazing. We loved this house and sincerely hope to come back and visit again.

This clean, beautiful home has everything one could want for a delightful getaway at the bay. We appreciated the comfortable surroundings and the well stocked kitchen and extra paper products. The screened in porch was enjoyable and it was nice to have the rinsing station hose reach up to the deck to keep things tidy.
