I booked this property quite some time ago but when I read a number of very bad reviews in the days before our arrival I really wondered if I made a bad decision to book that place and we arrived with great suspicion. However, none of our worries materialized. It is a nice place in the heart of the old centre of Setubal, in the middle of cobblestone streets with a number of cute shops, cafes and restaurants all around. It is made up in a pleasant way in mediterranean style, all was tidy and the kitchen was fully equipped. The place has some shortcomings owed to the architecture of an assumingly two hundred years old building, such as a steep and narrow staircase and limited room for the shared showers and toilets. But other than that there is nothing wrong with that place and even if maybe the host had a bad time or the chambermaid was sick it is difficult to imagine that the place could have been in a condition that it would deserve a damning 1 or 2 rating just two weeks ago. To sum it up: This property is in a great location, there is no issue with cleanliness and we had a great time

Dirty, filthy apartment, prone to diseases and sickness. Dust everywhere. Dirty walls, used towels on the floor, toilets were dirtier than the public toilets.

Very good location, close to the main square, restaurants and grocery market.

Nice kitchen but no place to sit or to eat. Bummer...

bathroom layout with 2 small shower rooms could have been better in my opinion to have had one bigger bathroom, as doors could not open fully and hit sinks

I'm a 71-year-old woman traveling alone with my support dog. I don't know the city and I don't speak Portuguese. Thankfully, the owner/manager speaks fluent English and Spanish. Hugo, is exceptionally friendly and helpful. When I asked about supplies for my dog, Hugo took the initiative to go to the store and buy them for me! And, when I got the flu, he kindly took me to the pharmacy and acted as my interpreter. I feel very fortunate to have found such an attentive host! Thank you, Hugo!

There is a spacious furnished apartment on the first floor, above the ground level. On the second floor, two flights up the steep stairs, there are four bedrooms that are rented separately and that share two bathrooms as well as a full-kitchen with dishes and pots & pans. There are other bedrooms in the attic as well. This facility is in an old building with a mix of older squeaky doors, and new laminate flooring. I was in one of the bedrooms on the "second floor" that would be called "third floor" in Canada or the US. With a comfy double-bed taking up almost half the space, the small bedroom was impeccably clean and had a lot of natural light coming in through two french windows.
