This was our second time staying here in just a couple of months. Lovely and comfortable place in a great part of town. Only a few steps from beautiful beach views and beach access. We won't hesitate to stay here again when we are back in town. Thanks!

Better than described, wonderful hostess who took care of any questions or concerns. Located in a nice neighborhood with private entrance, homey and comfortable with everything you need for a stay. Santa Barbara is a beautiful town, it is located in a convenient location, near beach heartbeat! Garden was nice place to sit in sun in mornings and watch birds. Loved it and will stay again in a heratbeat!

Our family had a lovely stay at Mary's beautiful property. The layout of the home is just perfect and it is decorated with such fun colors and style! Mary's home is so relaxing and tranquil. She is an incredibly gracious and friendly hostess. We enjoyed the quiet neighborhood and loved our morning and evening walks to see the wonderful ocean views. The location is awesome! We appreciated Mary's knowledge about places to visit/dine in Santa Barbara. We are already looking forward to our next visit and hope to stay here again!

The property is beautifully landscaped and well located in a quiet residential neighborhood close to the beach. The owners are super nice and available for any questions or needs. We highly recommend this property to anyone who needs a quiet place in Santa Barbara.

Such a beautiful home and garden perfectly located near the beach, downtown, and other attractions. Owner was in constant contact to ensure a smooth stay. The home was impeccably maintained and all the amenities were provided. Look forward to returning again and again.

We had a fantastic time at Mary’s place. Mary and her husband are very kind hosts and made us feel very welcome. We walked to the Mesa beach every day, watched the surfers - and once even walked all the way to the pier. The neighborhood is extremely quiet, beautiful and safe. Supermarket and restaurants also in walking distance. As mentioned there is no real kitchen , but we managed breakfast on the peaceful deck and in the garden, which is stunning. Thank you very much, Mary, and we would definitely rent this wonderful place again anytime!

Supermarket and restaurants also in walking distance. As mentioned there is no real kitchen , but we managed breakfast on the peaceful deck and in the garden, which is stunning. Hosts were friendly and welcoming. Beach access from the neighborhood was amazing, 240 steps down, but really close and nice. Yard is amazing, fruit trees, flowers, foliage, birds galore. A nice pool, we didn’t use it was too cold still, but great to have available. Also super nice to have laundry availability, it’s out back in a room by the pool. It was perfect for a long weekend to visit my son. Beds unfortunately were too soft for us, but then that is subjective. Overall a wonderful place and oh so much nicer then being in a motel.

Would rent again for a quiet getaway

Was here for my mom's 80th birthday trip. We used the little fridge, the microwave, and the toaster to eat breakfast and lunch. Mary is so generous with lots of little extras--coffee pods and cream, honey, tea, soaps and shampoos. She also let me do a laundry load--so appreciated! She's also very generous to allow guests to sit in the back garden of their home. I spent some happy hours watching the birds and squirrels and smelling the sweet scent of California flowers. This is a quiet place in a nice neighborhood, and *very* close to coffee shops, grocery stores, fast food, and Super Cuca's Mexican food (yum!). It's also only a couple of blocks to the Mesa Steps, a long flight of stairs down to the beach. I just loved this place. It's all you need! I would describe it as cozy and homey rather than "modern-immaculate," but it feels like home. It might not be right for the very elderly (old-style tub/shower, high step to enter from outside, uneven ground) but it's wonderful for everyone else. On my list of favorites!

Serene and quiet! My stay in this two-room house addition in the West Mesa neighborhood was magnificent! Clean, well equipped, host is responsive, beautiful neighborhood, great location close to beaches, shops and food, … everything you need for a get-a-way in Santa Barbara. I rented an electric bike instead of a car to ride downtown in this very bike-friendly city, where I shopped, ate at the outdoor cafes, and attended the symphony and art exhibitions.

What a magical space. Located in such a special neighborhood that’s quiet and private, with views of the ocean and mountains out the front door, with birds singing, beautiful gardens, and beach access just around the corner! The bedrooms & bathrooms are so fun and colorful, and feel so homey. Mary and Ed are such kind and generous hosts, who made me feel completely welcome! Already checking dates for when I can come back :D

Owner did post that there was no swimming after 2. What I failed to key in on was until after 2 p.m. I got scolded from the owner for sitting by the pool chatting with my 78 year old mother because she was trying to teach virtually from her office computer right in the corner by the pool. Many other places in her house from which she could teach. Probably would select a different property if given the choice. Did not feel comfortable aftraid if we made a sound louder than a peep we would be scolded again.

You can't get a better location for the price when looking for a rental near the ocean. The garden is lovely and the hosts were very accommodating! The photos are accurate and the furnishings are fun and artsy. It was a great base to use for exploring the area. The Santa Rita wine region is less than 45 minutes away. Instructions were clear and check-in and check-out were easy. A few things to note: if you have back issues, you'll find the mattresses (double bed & twin bed) uncomfortable. They are soft and unsupportive. We did not use the futon. If you're picky about the type of pillow you use, bring your own. There are some things in the listing that we didn't find in the rental. A first aid kit, fireplace, washer, dryer, and dishwasher are all listed but not found in the rental unit. The smoke detector was missing... the base was still mounted but the unit wasn't there. We did not see a carbon monoxide detector in the unit either. A heater is listed but there is no furnace control. It was lovely to sit outside and eat at the picnic table when the weather was nice! The outside table is the only dining space available. The listing asks renters to enjoy the outside areas after 1pm so we ate breakfast and lunch in the room picnic-style on the bed. The weather was cool-ish during our visit and there was only one day when we would have liked air conditioning in the rental unit. It seems that most homes in the area do NOT have a/c, as the weather usually makes it unnecessary. If you're from a climate where you're used to controlling the temp inside by use of a/c and a furnace, you may find the lack of control in the rental annoying. The rooms themselves were clean and bright. The owners ask you to wash your own dishes by hand before leaving, and provide dish soap and a drying rack in the bathroom. We did find that the previous guests had put away their coffee mugs dirty and left one dirty glass in the drying rack, which was irksome in the 'age of covid'. We sanitized everything before using it by boiling water in the teapot and soaking the utensils and cups we wanted to use. The owners provide one washcloth and one bath towel per guest for our 6 day/5 night stay; it would have been nice to have more than one each, or access to the washer/dryer to clean them. Two beach towels were provided. As a Vrbo host myself, I notice EVERYTHING... my notes above informational, not complaining! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this rental :)

The place was clean and bright surrounded by beautiful gardens and birds of all kinds. Hosts were friendly and welcoming.

Good location, walkable distance to beach. Clean property, two separate bedrooms with two baths. Clean, comfortable. Will stay again.
