Sadly no breakfast !!

This place was great! The room was perfect- clean, well thought out, with everything you need. The host was super friendly and helpful. We ate in the pub and the food was great. We also wandered straight off the property into nearby fields for a lovely evening walk.

My room ,on the first floor, was spotless. it was well decorated and furnished. the bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was second to none. Fresh towels and toiletries were provided and unlike many hotels I’ve stayed in, it had a power point next to the table and mirror! Plenty of tea, coffee, water and biscuits were provided. I had a room at the back which overlooked fields and woodland. I luckily got the last parking space as I didn’t check in until 8pm but it wasn’t long after they finished serving food that other spaces became available and I moved my car to a space not visible from the road. There was plenty of choice on the breakfast menu and it was value for money. I used this hotel as a one night stop over as it isn’t far off the M6 in a quiet location. Will definitely stay again.

Only a very slight niggle is that breakfast is served from 9am and only on weekends but they do provide pots of porridge in the room if you need to leave earlier.

The staff made us feel very welcome despite a late arrival. They were very attentive and the locals at the bar were nice too.

The room could have been a bit darker.

The hotel was situated on the main road and we had a front room, therefore the passing traffic was noisy but not a problem.

The room size was good for 3 adults.

I messaged the hotel to ask specific questions about the room and they didn’t answer them which resulted in disappointment on arrival. The hotel turned the heating off during the night, the outside temperature was 1/2 degrees since it’s winter so this resulted in a freezing room which I had to ask to have the radiator turned back on. On arrival the girl checking us in said barely anything about the wifi code or even where the room key was (found it in the door) and told us nothing about checking out the next day. The room was not suitable for hotel room as there were noises heard from the pub underneath aswell as TV’s and the interior door in the hall banging closed whenever someone cane in or out. The shower wasn’t a step in one as depicted from their online pictures which was one of the questions I had about the room that wasn’t answered which was problematic for myself who is 6 months pregnant and my mother whi had mobility issues. On checking out we were told to use the fire escape as the pub door was alarmed which was again problematic for all three of us with cases and walking sticks! All in all not a good stay sadly.

Had found this wonderful place a couple of weeks previous and it was a pleasure to return. Large clean light bedroom with a comfortable bed and ample wardrobe and draw space. The bar although small is well stocked and inviting with its open log fire with the restaurant area offering a great menu and good prices. The quality of the food is top notch - fair size portions too

Good location, easy to find. We booked an evening meal with friends which was really tasty and very reasonably priced. Room was very clean, everything we needed was there apart from a good, well lit mirror for my wife to use for her make-up. Road was a bit noisy when a truck came by but not a lot can be done about that. Would suggest a room at the back of the property rather than the front.

Room was cold when we went back after dinner and radiator stone cold. I went down again to ask and they admitted they had turned heating off which should not have done on a cold night. They did put it on again but we were still cold as took a while to heat up. Only other issue was they do not serve any breakfast but we did not know this when booking. There do not appear to be any staff on in the morning but a simple tray of a bowl of cereal or couple of croissants could easily be given the night before. Very unusual no breakfast offer and think they can easily resolve this. Should be made clearer on the booking site. Shame as otherwise excellent and good value
