This unit was spacious, clean, and right in the middle of resort. Views were great. Open spaces, had great time sitting around with family around dining table and deck. The owner Fereshteh was so friendly and responsive to questions leading up to our stay. Parking was very easy, even if garage was full it was easy to find a spot right outside. Beach was great. Kids loved the pools and slide. It was fun to walk over to all the food trucks in evening. We were very happy we stayed here.

This was our 4th trip to Maui, and 3rd time staying Honau Kai. This was our largest group yet, 3 young kids plus 2 grandparents so we booked this 3-bedroom unit. As in the past, a beautiful property, great location and family-friendly. The property manager was excellent, keeping in touch with regular emails. She was also very helpful when the keypad code on the unit door spontaneously reset. She called me within minutes of my text and had the issue dealt with.
Lots of space to have grandparents sleep in 1 bedroom on one side of the unit; 2 boys had shared a room, and we had the baby with us. Unit came with highchair and pack safe as advertised. Kitchen was great - 2 ovens! Everything you need in the kitchen.
Fantastic views of the main courtyard and the ocean, easy to see sunsets as well as whale activity.
Would stay again next time we go.

This VRBO is perfect! The rooms were spacious, ceiling fans, kitchen supplies, washer/dryer, some of the best views on the entire property, great location, beautiful patio for am coffee/meals and just beautiful upgrades condo overall. I took my grown boys on this trip and needs a place that would allow everyone to have their own bed.. and this was perfect! The owner was amazing and responded quickly to any questions. Would defiantly stay here again!

This property is fantastic. Great location near a grocery store and food trucks. The accordion doors to the lanai are great and creates a true indoor/outdoor atmosphere. Fereshteh was amazing and quick to reply to any texts. Would highly recommend this property.

Beautiful property, great condo with tremendous view
The 3-bedroom condo had everything we needed for simple meals and a cocktail EVERY night from the lanai to watch the sunset. The property was great, Duke’s restaurant had variety and the Hula Pie was outstanding. The pools were very busy though and getting six chairs was very difficult. The beach though, was gorgeous and we saw turtles swim right next to us every day. The property manager was very on top of every question asked and provided great service. There was limited underground parking and we needed to valet car a few times, but easy to do it. The beach walk was perfect for morning strolls and to check out the other resorts. Look for the cats along the beach walk, there are probably 25 different ones keeping watch. Great family vacation for all ages.

Guest shouldn’t be charged for additional towels. Insects were a issue throughout the stay even with traps laid out. Bedding in the two masters were uncomfortable, pillows as well. Stains on curtains and furniture, but overall loved the view and the fact that it was big enough for my entire family to be there. Loved how it can with an ice chest, beach chairs, boogie boards, etc. Host always responded in a timely manor, and was able to answer all questions and concerns even notified us when we had a package delivered! Overall really great place to stay for the family vacation! Close to pretty much everything!

Our family had a wonderful stay at this property. The owner was awesome to work with! Everything we needed was in the condo. The condo was super clean. The views are amazing! The resort is very family friendly and was in a great location. We had an amazing Hawaiian vacation!! I would definitely recommend.

Wonderful well stocked condo in great location
Wonderful 3BR 3Ba condo with beautiful view from the spacious balcony. Well stocked kitchen with high end appliances. Good beds! Very responsive property manager. Honua Kai well situated and this unit is close to the general store (and coffee!!) and the gym. Parking in the garage was next to impossible but we always found an outdoor spot within a 5 min walk. Love the food truck park within walking distance.. Would 100% stay here again, if we have the chance to come back to Hawaii.

Absolutely great!
We were a large group of 8 and there was enough room for us. The kitchen was big enough and well stock. We stopped at Costco and Walmart in Kahului to purchase food. We made breakfast everyday and enjoyed it on the lanai. The lanai was where we hung out every morning and evening. It has a great view of the sunset. It is a family resort and you can see other families enjoying their lanai. The pools were great and the kids enjoyed the pools more than the beach. The beach does have rocks in the water. I would advise to wear water shoes at all times in the water. There are beach chairs, an umbrella, and a cooler for you to use. It was nice sitting on the beach and watching the whales. The host was easy to communicate. The keys to the condo are bands that you wear and everyone in my party wore one. It made it very easy and the key band was also used to get your beach towels. We had one breakfast at Dukes, it was alright. There are food trucks in walking distance. The only thing I didn’t like about the resort was the garage. It’s not very big so if you come back late to the resort, you’ll be parking outside and far. Luckily, I felt safe and enjoyed the walk back. I rented a large SUV and even when I did find a spot in the garage, it made me nervous but no dings on it. I booked the luau at the Sheraton Black Rock and it was 5 mins drive from Honua Kai. The drive to/from Kahului can take 30-60 mins. Lahaina is a short drive and was fun to walk around. Great place for a week long trip to beautiful Maui! Mahalo

Perfect paradise!
This is an amazing condo! The views out to the ocean are great, the condo was clean and well-equipped. We have no complaints! We would definitely go back. Drawbacks: hard to get our placard to surface park the second car, the palm trees completely block the ocean view so you can not watch for whales from the lanai, Duke’s is usually full unless you go at off hours.

Luxurious, great location and well appointed condo.
We stayed for a week with my adult daughters and it was perfect for 4 people. This condo is exactly how it presents. It is spacious and includes high end appliances and fixtures. It was very clean. The bathrooms were well stocked, an added bonus. We had no issues during the week. The view of the beach and resort is complete. We cooked a few dinners and the kitchen is very well equipped - sometthing hard to find in short term rentals. We also enjoyed all the resort offerings - beach, pools, fitness center and on-site restaurant. It was a shoulder holiday week so busy and lots of children, as expected. We would definately rent again.

Ocean View
This was the best stay! After leaving Honolulu, we decided to spend some time in Maui to really unwind and relax and it was the best decision ever. The unit looks exactly like the pictures, but even better! The view of the ocean is amazing, especially at sunrise and sunset. I had a very small issue with one of the shower heads and the host handled it expeditiously. We had a rental car but everything was in walking distance from the beach, to the grocery store, and the amazing food trucks. I will definitely being staying here again for all my future visits to Maui!!!

Great condo
This place is the most well equipped place I’ve stayed at. They had plenty of dishes and kitchenware. I loved how they even had beach toys! The place was clean and I had no issues contacting the host. I would recommend this spacious place to large groups and families as the community was perfect for that. Close to a beach and the towel vending machine dispenser was super convenient.

Wonderful family time
We have nothing but compliments from the host to the cleanliness of the condo and detailed amenities. It was the perfect condo for our adult family ! Everyone had their privacy as well as a great living space to play games have morning coffee and eat together! Will definstley be back! Thank you Fereshteh!

Beautiful condo in beautiful resort
This condo was perfect for our family of 6. 3 king bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and plenty of communal space meant we had plenty of space to spread out. View of the ocean and resort every morning was lovely. Beach towel system was brilliant. Only issues were the shortage of sun loungers around the pools and the fact that Duke’s restaurant was fully booked 3 months out. To get sun loungers we needed to be down at the pool by 7:30 am. And to get into Duke’s as a walk-in at around 6:30 pm we needed to be on the list by 4 pm. Once we worked all that out and explored further down the beach we were good!

Excellent location for family with young children
Unfortunately this year we came a couple of weeks earlier than we normally have and the resort was way too crowded. 2 hour wait for dinner at Duke's and no chairs available by the pool made the resort not a return engagement for us this year. Our grandsons are getting older and resort is best for families with kids under 11. Resort was clean and location is beautiful but just too crowded this year.

Fabulous
This resort does not disappoint! Our room was amazing, the furnishings all clean and comfortable, and the balcony absolutely wonderful!! The 3 bedrooms with king beds can’t be beat and were perfect for family. Even the sofa bed was comfortable for our 14 year old. The pools were all terrific, and the beach was great for snorkeling. Best stay ever!!

Wonderful stay in paradise and the condo manager, Feresteh, was awesome!
We were fortunate enough to travel to Maui in February, 2021. The Covid restrictions and rules that Hawaii has in place felt scary at first as it seemed to be so complicated. However, it actually is very easy to get tested, upload your results to the Safe Hawaii travel site and follow through with all of their other restrictions. We landed in Maui and got through without any issues. Our flight got in way passed dark and it was a bit difficult to find where we were supposed to go to check into the condo. It would have been much easier during the day light. But we found it and the rest of the check-in was flawless including a bellman who helped us carry up all of our groceries that we stopped to buy and six people's luggage. The condo was fabulous. The pictures online do not do it justice. It is so much better. The communication we had with the condo manager, Feresteh, was great. The condo was missing a cooler for us to use and they quickly brought one over to us that same day. We were a group of three adult couples and the 3 king size bedrooms/3 bathrooms worked out great for our group.
The kitchen was well equipped. The only thing we looked for and couldn't find was a coffee bean grinder. Otherwise, it had everything you could possibly need. Our favorite part of the condo was definitely the big lanai where we would have our morning coffee and look over the beautiful grounds. The beach is clean and beautiful. We would walk on the boardwalk each morning for a little exercise to wear off all the good food and drinks we consumed. The boardwalk was sometimes crowded but if you go earlier, it wasn't so many people. We ate at many restaurants in Old Lahaina and found we liked the Captain Jack's Island Grill the best. We also ate at Mama's Fish House in Paia which was awesome. Captain Jack's does not take reservations and Mama's you would need a reservation long in advance as they are full all the time. If you go to Mama's on that side of the island, stay and watch the surfers down a ways. They are so fun to watch. We also did the Old Lahaina Luau which had so much food! The show was just okay. We were hoping to see fire throwers and they didn't have them. The Road to Hana is a must. We ended up doing the loop all the way around. Plan on about a 10-12 hour day if you do this.
If you are hesitating about going to Hawaii, just go! It is safe, clean and they are taking every precaution necessary for Covid protection.

Loved our stay
We came in as restaurants started carry out only, stayed until pools were closed and very few people were left due to the Coronavirus. With that said, we had an amazing time!! It is a bummer all parks, luaus, and the road to Hana were closed. But this property made up for it. The condo itself is spectacular!! We ended up extending our stay due to flight cancellations and they were amazing to work with our reservation changes on the condo.
The pools are really nice and perfect for kids and adults alike. The view from the balcony is beautiful as you can see the grounds out to the ocean. We saw several rainbows from on balcony. The staff at the resort were very helpful and there is a mini store on property for your necessities. Also Dukes restaurant is onsite which is great for lunch while swimming. I will say if you want a lounger or a place to sit/lay by the pool you need to get there early.
Right outside the property is an area of awesome food trucks. Across the street is a strip mall with a grocery store. Everything truly is right there for you! There were a few days we did not touch our car.
Overall I highly recommend this property, we plan to return in the future and stay in the same place!

Maui vacation
Beautiful property and worked perfect for my family of 6. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Great beach front trail for am jog and walks. The resort is perfect for families with kids. Probably not ideal for couples but it's easy to escape the family pool area and hang by the beach. Parking is free which is nice.

Hanua Kai Resort--#K325
Our family of six adults just returned from a wonderful 9 night stay at the Hanua Kai Resort.
The condo itself was just as described in the VRBO ad; it was lovely with amazing ocean views across the grassy courtyard and quiet pool. The furnishings were quite nice and appropriately themed. Everything was there to fulfill our needs and we were very comfortable. It was very clean and neat.
However, our initial arrival was not pleasant. They seemed understaffed and the lack of assistance was evident. We were not greeted by valet as we were told we would be. We arrived about five minutes before the check-in time of 4:00 PM. The girl at the bell desk said to go away and come back at 4:00 because we couldn't get into the condo before 4:00. I explained to her that by the time we finished the check-in process, it would certainly be after 4:00, and that it would take us longer than five minutes to get to our condo anyway. She finally relented and continued to let us register. There were no available bell/valet people, so we made numerous trips to get our luggage, groceries, and three golf bags to our third-floor condo, by ourselves.
Once settled into the condo, our vacation was fabulous! The location is very convenient; Whaler's Village is a short drive south, and just a bit farther is Lahaina. A walkable distance from the resort is Times Market, other small shops, and "Slappy Cakes," a great place for breakfast. The pools were nice, with efficient service from the Duke's employees for lunch or drinks.
The wrist bands that worked as our condo keys, towel retrieval, and gate entry were a real convenience.
The only other negative comment I'd have (besides check-in) would be the grossness of the trash room down the hall. We frequently would empty our trash/recycling cans there and never saw it without many bags of trash on the floor. The room's odor was bad! It seems that the resort should monitor that small room more often.
All-in-all...we would definitely go back to Hanua Kai! I would have given a 5-star overall rating for our CONDO, but for the "overall" RESORT rating, the difficulty checking-in and disgusting trash room took it down a notch.

Top notch accommodations!
First of all, the photos on the website didn’t do this property justice. It’s an emasculate condo in a great location! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. We arrived later in the evening so check in was quick. The condo is fully equipped. The view from the lanai is absolutely gorgeous. We spent every morning out there. Kitchen is a cooks dream. The three bedroom boasts lots of space so you don’t feel on top of each other. Pools and all the facilities are great as well. Friendly staff at the Honua Kai. Communication with Fereshteh was a breeze and she was certain to respond to any inquiry I had almost immediately. We didn’t get a chance to personally meet her but we will definitely be returning, so hope to meet her then. This condo is in a great location in Lahaina. Close to, or just a short drive to many stores and restaurants and just a short distance to every water sport available. Check out was a breeze as well. We hated to leave!!! Thanks Fereshteh!!

Very nice unit in Honua Kai
A true 3 bedroom unit with 3 ample bathrooms, very nice living area, and an outstanding balcony and view. I can't imagine there is a cleaner unit in the development, or one that has nicer finishes. This is a very nice unit.
View to the ocean and beach is excellent. Property has elevator access, and a small market on the main level for things you may need (but it is cheaper to do your grocery shopping in Lahaina).
By my count, there were 4 different swimming pools in addition to beach access. The beach at this part of Maui is a little skinny, but you don't have to go far and you get a much wider beach.
Underground parking was very nice to have. We never had to walk far and you were back in the unit. The vibe at Honua Kai is lots of families. We liked that the property is far enough away from some of the mega developments like the Hyatt and Sheraton so you don't have any Luau noise or things like that.
There were a couple small things about Honua Kai I would suggest the association work on, but those things apply to all units. We had the fire alarm go off a few times in the building during our stay, access to the most central elevator from the parking garage was acting up for about half the stay. The pools could stand to be cleaned more often. Again, those are points about the association -- this particular unit is immaculate, comfortable, and quite gorgeous.

Great place to stay
We just recently visited this property and specifically this unit. Everything in the listing including pictures was exactly what we got. We had 6 adults and 1 infant, and it was plenty of space for everyone. The unit and the property were top notch.
