Very well laid out home in beautiful area

The home is beautiful and well appointed. Our family of 7 had all the room we needed. Our favorite part of this property was the fire pit in the back. It was far enough to have peace and quiet and close enough to all of the activities of the towns. My personal favorite part of this home were the windows with sunlight streaming in from all angles! Thanks for a wonderful vacation for our family! We will be back!

This is a great house for a family vacation. 2-story vault ceiling allows a Great Lake view. The house is well layout and very clean. It is in a very quiet section of Gills Rock by the water. We had a nice bonfire and enjoyed each other’s company.

Beautiful location and beautiful home for a getaway for a large group! We spent a long weekend here and it was a perfect spot to end the night with a fire after exploring the local Bay Towns.

We had plenty of space in the house to gather & to find peace & quiet. We enjoyed the warmth of the fireplace on these cool October days. Loved the quiet location close to Washington island ferry & north end restaurants. Really loved the gorgeous Night Sky! Thank you.

Very nice accommodations surrounded by the wonders of nature and good neighbors. The lake to the front and perfect fall colors in the back. Door County offers much to the excited visitors wanting to get away from the current chaos.

My husband and I and our two adult daughters and their spouses and our three grandchildren stayed for the weekend…house was great with plenty of room. Location was lovely and we had great weather..would definitely stay again

Spacious, clean, lots of room with separate spacing of bedrooms that allow some distance even though we were a large group. Clean, lots of natural light. Nice indoor fireplace worked well without smoking out the home.
Lots of deck space, nice fire pit in the back. Great stargazing!

We had the best time. The home was stocked with everything we needed. We had more than enough room and was close to everything we wanted to see. We will definitely be back

Our family loved this home and location - they did not want to go home. The house is beautiful - spacious and well appointed. The home offers great places to gather inside and out - and has quiet lovely spots to read a book or take a nap. Although not on the water the water is always in sight. The location is in quiet Gills Rock - nestled within a charming vintage fishing village. Walk to the little town that offers the Shoreline Restaurant - Charlie’s for fresh smoked fish - great ice cream and boat tours. There are charming boutique shops as well. Within a short drive is Ellison Bay and Sister Bay - towns that offer more restaurants - Seaquest Orchid - Al Johnson’s Restaurant famous for the goats on the roof - as well as a stunning marina - putt putt golf - a go cart track - and more unique little boutiques. The rest of Door County is all within easy driving distance. We live in Door County - our family was visiting - they took home with them memories to last a lifetime - along with some delicious home made preserves from Koepsel’s farm stand and Bea’s Ho -Made - and the best home made trail mix and granola from Kick Ash Coffee Shop. Everywhere you go you will find spectacular views and places to relax and have fun - with wonderful family owned stores and restaurants that are each unique and special in there own way. There is no place like Door County. And this is a great place to call home while visiting.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The highlights of the property include the front deck overlooking the bay, the relatively wind guarded fire pit in the back, and the dark sky to view the stars.
It’s an okay place for a dog, but if the dog needs daily activity, plan on driving to walk in one of the state or county parks. The road the house is on is okay for short walks, but the curves make it a bit challenging to see oncoming traffic.
The beds are newer, but very firm. The only memory foam mattress is on the main level.
The owners stayed in the cottage on the property while we visited. They are friendly and welcoming.

This family group of six adults and two children enjoyed two weeks in this very comfortable, well equipped a-frame lake view cottage. The owners have equipped this home with all the equipment and furniture to make it a place we would return to. The owners were very responsive to any questions that we sent their way, and they were eager to resolve any problems.

We are a female family group -- sisters, nieces, sister-in-law, cousins -- who have for the last 20+ years gather in June for a week in Door County. This house met every need. Big, spacious, 3 bathrooms, quiet areas, gathering areas. Beautiful setting with an outdoor patio, fire pit, huge front deck to view the water. It's located outside the busy life of Door Cty but close enough to enjoy shopping, restaurants.

The house was perfect for our large family, even our dogs. It was easy to get to everything we wanted to see and visit in the surrounding towns. We were able to come back at night, make dinner and settle in around a fire in either the fireplace or fire pit. Just a lovely vacation and place to stay!

This home is everything they say on the listing! Met our two adult kids and their fiancés for an extended weekend. Open space, great deck and lots of room to just hang out. At the top of the door where it is quiet and nature can be seen and heard all around.

The basement has two twin beds and a full futon and a bedroom with another full bed! Family with kids works well there.
There is a public spot to park and enjoy the view just north of the home. Super close to the Washington Island ferry.
15 minutes from sister bay. 30 to peninsula state park. There are 3 convenient full baths- one on each level. Fire pit patio and deck has good seating. On a clear night you can see the Milky Way! Such a Nice spot to rest, spread out and call home-base. Thanks!

We had a wonderful time! The property had beautiful views of the water and large open spaces for the whole family to gather. Our hosts were wonderful and made sure that we had everything we needed while we were there and truly made our stay special.

Perfect for families
We spent a week here with family. We had two small children and this house was perfect place to come together for dinners and showers after days at the beach. We had a fabulous time and we highly recommend this place for a family!

Comfortable and spacious vacation home.
Our family thoroughly enjoyed staying in this beautiful home. It had a great layout for our family, plenty of room. Our five year old grand daughter loved her daybed in the loft.
Location of the house is on a quiet road, with water views across the street.

Great Place and Spectacular Location
Great place with a great layout. Be forewarned, you will need to bring bath towels and staples such as salt and pepper. The locations is quiet and very private. We would stay here again.

Perfect for family get together
My husband and I moved out of state this past year and were looking for a place back in Wisconsin to hold our Thanksgiving. This place was perfect for us, our adult children and their significant others. Large and spacious enough to allow people to have some privacy with a great open first floor for gathering. Roomy, Peaceful, Clean, No Frills
There were 11 of us that stayed here for a 3 day weekend, 7 adults and 4 kids. The house has an open floor plan with plenty of space. The 3 bedrooms on the main and upper levels were nice and bright and having 3 full bathrooms was great. The neighborhood the house is in is quiet and not on a main road and safe for walking/running. You can see the bay across the road from the house. What was a bit disappointing was that guests need to bring a lot of things that most house rentals in this price range provide (bath towels, hand/kitchen towels, wash clothes), soap (dish, body, shampoo, laundry), basic cooking staples (salt/pepper, sugar, and oil), and other items such as garbage bags, paper towels, extra toilet paper.

Appreciated the amount of open space in the house and the beautiful windows and natural light, and in a natural setting.
Owners were very easy to communicate with and responded quickly to any advance questions. Great location if you're planning a day trip to Washington Island, and easy to get around elsewhere on the Peninsula, too. We had a wonderful stay!

Just as listed: Beautiful Home in a Tranquil setting !
It was the perfect setting for our two infant grandsons to meet for the first time: William (6months) with parents Luke & Liz arrived from Milwaukee to meet Nico (3months) with parents Hannah & Nithin from Sacramento, CA. Throw in two proud grandparents, great Auntie and Uncle from Charlottesville, VA and Sophie Auntie from Madison and it was a perfect week ! The Bernhardts truly thought of everything: best stocked kitchen ever to make outstanding dinners including peach and key lime pies... enough stemware for happy hours ! and a brand new washer and dryer (full size) to keep up with laundry for two babies !!
Our group of 9 adults and 2 babies had plenty of room with 4 comfortable bedrooms with full or queen beds PLUS a comfy loft area with day bed ... we had room to spare !
Something for everyone and in a peaceful surroundings !

Nice and away from the busy areas
Nice place conveniently located near the ferries at a good price. The house is clean with good appliances and ample sleeping spaces. Unlike some other properties near by, there is not much to do for checkout. I appreciate the native Wisconsin wildflowers of the property. There were monarchs, fireflies, and ripe wild strawberries all over! The basement could use an additional dehumidifier. There is one in the bathroom, so you need to choose between cold & damp or not being polite after using the toilet. Deck and backyard outdoor furniture are quite weathered. Also rented the cottage on the property for the family with a baby and it too was very nice.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Pat and David's house which is located in a quiet, beautiful area, surrounded by fantastic places for long walks down wooded roads and along the water. Pat was very quick to communicate when we had a little hiccup with the water system, and the issue was resolved within the hour. The house is quite spacious for a large group, but our little family of four thoroughly enjoyed the space, too. We took advantage of both the living room fireplace for lounging and the outdoor firepit, where we cooked a meal one afternoon. The view of the water is nice, and all the natural light filling the space was wonderful!Activities: We spent much of our time cooking, playing board games, and walking or hiking the lovely area. Note: if you want to hike in the fall, you'll need to wear blaze orange or neon yellow in most of the parks (we didn't know that little tidbit, but were able to find inexpensive safety vests at the Sister Bay hardware store). The cute towns are a short drive away if that is your jam. Thanks much to Pat and David for renting out this wonderful gem. We loved our stay in your house!
