The location was perfect for us and visiting family. The hosts were super responsive and easy to communicate with them. The house was spotless when I arrived and the layout was great for us. The view from the living room was amazing and I spent many hours reading and watching the water. My work is dependent on a good WiFi connection and I had zero issues.
It was really sad to have to leave.

Must reiterate - couldn't be a more pleasant & convenient location...even w/out a vehicle. Safe/quiet neighborhood, too. Lovely/peaceful views from all over the house. Deer, squirrels, birds... Hosts are great. House is comfortable - with charming decor items. Salish photographs in dining room are very compelling. Memorable in every sense.

...would be delightful for an entire vacationing family. Comfortable environment, entrancing architectural features, stunning views, could not be a more walkable location, very personable/responsive hosts, notably reasonable cost for a vacation rental. For me, the extended stay arrangement has been ideal. Memorable!

This was the perfect stay! We adore Port Townsend and the house was beautiful and charming with plenty of space and an amazing view! It was stocked with everything we could have wanted. The neighborhood was perfectly located to walk everywhere and the neighbors are friendly and helpful. We loved sitting on the back porch with our coffee, looking at the water and watching the deer every morning. The living room was really bright and welcoming with a contemporary but vintage vibe. We could walk to the weekly market and both the shops and restaurants of uptown and downtown. We hope to return soon!

We were very fortunate to have had a cancellation open up for us to book this lovely home with Deborah. It is conveniently located in uptown and literally a couple blocks (5 min walk) from the main street of downtown with many shops and restaurants. It's very close to all that is happening in PT, yet far enough away that it is very peaceful and quiet day & night.
The home is a victorian classic that has been fully modernized. It's very well appointed for a month long stay. Deb was super friendly, responsive and helpful with replacement of a pedestal fan that stopped working during our stay.
If you can find availability at this PT charmer, I would highly recommend booking this wonderful home.

Perfect Port Townsend
We miss our uptown home already.
We were between selling our home in Tacoma and purchasing a home in Port Townsend. This could have been an unsettling time- especially for our ten year old daughter; instead, it was delightful. From the welcoming interior, to the charming toys, to the location, to the lovely view this was the PERFECT place to call “home” for a month. Thank you for sharing such a special place and making this a wonderful memory instead of an inconvenience. We appreciate you and your home!

Wonderful views from an historic house
Beautifully renovated historic home in the Victorian seaport of Port Towsend. Lovely views of the bay from the living room, comfortable beds with fluffy comforters, all the amenities of home. Easy walking distance to downtown restaurants, bakeries, coffeeshops, and Aldrich's market.

Beautiful fully restored older home in ideal PT location
Gorgeous house. Pictures don’t do it justice. House is blocks from the “uptown” business district (where the Saturday Farmer’s Market is located) and a matter of 50 yards to the stairs to “downtown.” Very quiet neighborhood/street. Lots of deer. A beautiful church on almost every corner. Especially gorgeous upstairs bath with claw foot tub.
For those traveling in the warm months:
Be sure to check out the beach at Fort Worden- quiet and lovely.
Also there’s a Fifties style restaurant downtown that’s good for kids- sit on the patio. (Insider tip: they keep strange hours so be sure to check ahead).
There’s an especially cute and affordable gift shop a few blocks away called Petals.
Happy travels!

A month of lifetime memories
We loved everything about our stay at the Phillip's House. It was immaculate on our arrival. Everything in historic Port Townsend was within a short walk: farmers' market, grocery store, waterfront, antique stores, shops, restaurants, ferry...everything you'd want. We loved the bay window with the view of the ferries coming in and out of the harbor and seeing the daily visits of deer. The owners have done an outstanding job of anticipating everything a family needs for a comfortable stay.

Wonderful home to to include in your VRBO listings
The house was comfortable and clean. The hosts had flowers, wine, candy and a bag of coffee to greet us, very nice. The view of the Pudet Sound is breathtaking. The hosts are kind, considerate and cordial. We would highly recommend this home to anyone who wanted to stay there.

Wonderful location!
We spent the month of April 2017 in this lovely craftsman style home. The home is in the perfect location to enjoy the amenities of downtown such as the Rose Theatre, shopping and waterfront and uptown delights such as the farmers market, bakery, and grocery store. The kitchen and baths are large and modern. From the living room there is a nice water view and view of the deer that come thru the yard every evening. I would stay here again!

Great Times in Port Townsend
The Phillips House was the perfect place to call home for almost 3 months.
My husband Dave retired, and chose as his "reward" to attend the 12 week Intensive Woodworking course at the Port Townsend School of Woodworking at Fort Worden (no, this is not the boat building school, that is downtown at the Marine Center). Deborah worked with me 18 months in advance to secure the house for our visit.
While Dave attended school, I entertained and played tour guide to our many visitors from California and Northern Washington. The house had plenty of room for all of our guests., and was well appointed with all of the comforts of home. The neighborhood and neighbors were fantastic and very friendly.
We not only toured PT and Fort Worden, we also made side trips to Victoria, B.C., Lake Crescent & the Olympic National Park, La Conner, Anacortes, Bellingham, Vancouver, B.C., Granville Island, B.C. and of course a few trips into Seattle.
What is it they say, location, location, location. We couldn't have been in a better place not just for all of our sightseeing but also being located between Uptown & Downtown PT.
Some of our favorite restaurants were Alchemy Bistro & Wine Bar for delicious scallops & mussels, Tin Brick Pizza for pizza & clams (yes clams!!), The Fountain cafe for kale salmon salad & clam chowder, Hanazono Noodle House, Doc's at the Marina, Silverwater Cafe, Quench Cafe, Pane d'Amore Bakery and the Rose Theatre all within walking distance of the Phillips house! Taps at the Guardhouse at Fort Worden was also a favorite place to visit.
We were able to attend many events while we were in PT, they included the Kinetic Sculpture Race, Ladies Night Downtown PT, Farmers Market Uptown, Local High School football games, the PT tree lighting and arrival of Santa, Spirit of the Yule at the Key City Public Theatre, the PT Woodworker Show and the open house at the Port Townsend School of Woodworking.
Port Townsend and the Phillips House was the perfect place to begin my husbands retirement.
Thank you for allowing us to call your beautiful home, our home for a few months.

Our Victory Lap
A few years ago, my husband and I stumbled upon Port Townsend, which has truly become one of our favorite vacation spots. This summer we decided to celebrate our recent retirement by spending a month in this quaint seaport community. We were so glad to find the Phillips House available near the Uptown area which offers a delicious bakery, a unique market, and an array of quaint restaurants within walking distance. The nearby Saturday farmer's market was indeed a bonus!
This three bedroom home which faces Puget Sound, was a wonderful respite for us. Daily visits from the neighboring deer and watching the ferry dock several times a day, was a real treat. I enjoyed cooking in the spacious kitchen while my husband enjoyed hours of reading in the comfortable den. We really appreciated the availability of using the gas grill and hammock for an afternoon of leisure. An added bonus was having our fourteen year old Daschund welcomed to come with us.😊
This nineteenth century home was truly a "home away from home" for us, and we hope to return in the future.

Great way to know Port Townsend
My husband, dog, and I recently returned from a month at Philips house. Among the many memorable aspects of our stay were mornings sitting at the kitchen table (great kitchen), watching the ferry depart and return from the living room window, the friendly neighbors, and the ability to walk almost everywhere. Like a previous reviewer, our stay convinced us that Port Townsend is where we want to be. Anyone looking for a spectacular house in Taos, NM?

Perfect uptown experience!
We stayed at the Philips house with our two small children. It was an amazing location. Right by the yummiest bakery, which was great for a quick and special breakfast. A quick walk to downtown, an even quicker walk to uptown restaurants, coffee, and a quaint grocery store... We almost never drove for the whole month. The view was spectacular, the farmers market was a 3 min walk, the kitchen completely updated (it was a joy to cook up farmers market veggies there!) and the claw foot tub was used often. Thanks for letting us stay in this classic and comfortable home!

This is an awesome place to stay - we loved it!
We were here a month and enjoyed this house immensely - I'd recommend it to everyone. It really helped us decide that Port Townsend is where we want to retire. Walking distance to downtown AND uptown, we didn't even bother to rent a car. The Farmer's Market twice a week was just around the corner, and there's a great little market, coffeehouses, and restaurants very close by. We made it a daily ritual to watch the sailboats on the bay over wine from the little front porch. We celebrated both our birthdays here and had family come & go during the month; it accommodated everyone very easily. Port Townsend is a great place to visit with the Wooden Boat Festival, artwalks, live music venues & Film Festival, we had a blast! The owners were very responsive to our questions, always gracious and returned our cleaning deposit promptly - they are wonderful! If we weren't buying a condo here as a result of our stay, we would be renting this house year after year.

A lovely house and fantastic location!
We thoroughly enjoyed our month at Phillips House and highly recommend it! The photos on the listing really don't do it justice! While the house appears small in comparison to its neighbors, don't be fooled--when you step inside, you will find plenty of room for your party to spread out, with the dining room as a fine central location for everyone to gather. The furnishings were quite comfortable, and the kitchen was well supplied with staples and cookware. Everyone in our party took advantage of the wonderful claw foot tub upstairs. Eateries, grocery, parks, and shopping are within walking distance, so driving isn't imperative. The Wednesday and Saturday farmers markets were just 2 blocks away, so fresh local foodstuffs were easy to obtain. Being a historic district, the neighborhood had a fair amount of foot traffic from tourists looking at the older homes, but nothing we found disruptive--the majority of traffic stayed along the downtown waterfront and uptown shopping areas. We enjoyed watching ships go by and deer nibbling grass in the yard--a simply relaxing time. Deborah and Steve were friendly and full of suggestions about places to explore in the area. They provided a number of brochures and maps with their house book.
As for the area, we have many recommendations. We tried several eateries and highly recommend Courtyard Cafe (don't miss their day-old section for tasty treats), Addie Mae's (fantastic Cajun food), Better Living Through Coffee (chocolate tortes to die for!), Dos Okies Barbeque (get the ribs!), 1-2-3 Thai (many locals eat there), and Waterfront Pizza. Set aside plenty of time for Fort Worden, with its beaches, hiking trails, and Marine Science Center. They also host many educational tours and arts events on site that are worth catching. Port Townsend is also a great jumping off point to visit Olympic National Park and Whidbey Island, and the ferry to Victoria, B.C. is a little over one hour away.
Overall, we had a great time and appreciate the hospitality of Deborah and Steve. We're certain their calendar will fill up fast as more people find out what a charming, comfortable place Phillips House is!
