We stayed for two weeks at this beautiful Georgian home right on the waterfront. We really got to experience the coming together of all the elements: this beautiful home, the sea, the rocks, the wind, the animals and the birds. The hosts were lovely as was Karen the property manager, who was so helpful with local recommendations and history. We will definitely return!

How fabulous to stay in a very old Irish Manor. The house has the most fabulous views and the layout is fantastic for three families composed of 6 adults and 4 children. Having five bathrooms, three of them en-suite made it easy for everyone. The bedrooms are on the lower level and the living/entertaining rooms are on the upper level with an adjacent deck which provides excellent views from all rooms. The kitchen, while small is very efficient with surrounding windows making it cheery and bright. The bath towels are large, not skimpy. The beds are comfortable. The dining room table is fantastic; a great place to gather for meals and tell stories after days of adventure. The children loved being right on the water and exploring the "beach" for treasures. Skipping rocks was also fun for them. While the drive is on a very curvey narrow lane, there are pullouts to allow other cars to pass. It takes 15 minutes to get to town, but the views and being right on the water make it worthwhile. I wish we had more time for our visit there, as Clifden is a great town and it would have been nice to explore the area and the beach more. Marcus is outstanding to work with and Karen provided tips for services in town which we were in need of. I would stay in Marcus' home again in a heartbeat. I only wish we had more history about the house.

This house and the surrounding area were absolutely fantastic, even deep into the offseason for Ireland. The house itself was a grand old mansion, with all the comforts of home plus two working fireplaces, which we used daily. My group included two semi-professional chefs, both of whom found the kitchen to be up to their standards, which has been rare for us as we've traveled together through the years. The laundry facilities were a bonus as well, allowing us to pack lighter and wash our clothes. The beds and bedrooms were all very comfortable, and there was a ton of space in the house so that the eight of us never felt crowded. The living and dining rooms especially were fantastic. The house is in a somewhat remote location, but it's actually quite close to the town of Clifden, so we never felt too far away from anything we needed or wanted to do. Waking up every morning to the ocean, and also seeing the ocean every sunset was truly remarkable. The owner and caretaker were a delight to work with; very responsive and attentive to our questions and needs. I would not hesitate to rent this place again, which from the sound of the conversations my group has been having, may very well happen soon. If there is a criticism at all, I guess it would be that the tap water isn't drinkable. But I brushed my teeth with the water and it was fine. Nobody drank from the tap, we purchased bottled water, which wasn't an issue at all. Overall, probably one of the better rentals we've ever had traveling internationally. A true gem of a house and location. Highly recommended!

Errislannan House was excellent. We were three generations of family together for a week that was really special.

My wife and I, two daughters and one fiancé spent two weeks at Errislannan House. The house was spacious and comfortable and we appreciated living for a time in a stately, authentic Irish home rather than one of the flashy, contemporary houses we had seen online. We also loved the location, where the views were always interesting, good weather and not so good weather. I like to take photos on all of our trips and the road down to the house offered a variety of scenery, great for walks even if you are not that interested in photography. We also spent a lot of time in Clifden which is just big enough to have all the shops you need and pubs and restaurants to choose from. In fact, after traveling around, we were very glad we chose the Clifden area as our base. Finally, I should say that Marcus was wonderful to work with before and after we decided to rent, in ways too numerous to mention. Thanks, Marcus.

Marcus's beautiful home was the perfect place for our large group to relax, enjoy time together and explore all that Connemara has to offer. We loved spending time exploring on the beach just steps from the front door before our day's adventures, and sitting on the deck watching the sea and stars each evening. The house was roomy enough to accommodate all ten of us without feeling like we were on top of each other, but still had the feel of a family home with spaces that brought us all together. There are plenty of beautiful walks from the house in addition to the charms of Clifden and the many other Connemara places and sights. Karen was lovely and helpful throughout the visit with stories about the house and its history that we loved getting to hear. Marcus was quick to respond when we reached out and very accomodating as well. Every person in our group was sad to see the stay come to an end- hopefully we can all return again! Errislannan House is truly a magical place that has obviously been well-loved and appreciated by Marcus and his family- what a special thing that he is willing to share it with others!

We had the immense pleasure of discovering Errislannan this past week and fell absolutely in love with this home and the stunning surroundings. My husband and I wanted to plan a trip for our family--so we were joined by our parents and siblings for a week in Connemara and this home was absolutely ideal. Everyone had private rooms and bathrooms and plenty of space to "get away" for a little while and we enjoyed several nights in the dining room playing games, reading by the fire in the living room, enjoying breakfast and coffee in the mornings while taking in the gorgeous sea, cliffs and greenery in every direction. We all slept so well every night, enjoyed luxurious baths in the mornings or after a long walk, and the house was geographically so well-situated for our many day trips--to Galway, the Aran Islands, into Clifden, north to Westport, pony rides nearby, rambles on the beach right outside the house. We ate several wonderful meals in Clifden and heard wonderful music many nights--next time we have to make it to Lowry's. Suffice it to say we all fell in love and hope to return many times. Marcus was wonderful--responsive to all of our (many) logistical questions before our arrival and Karen was there each morning to tidy up and answer questions about best local spots, things to do, the house and area, etc. We felt taken care of completely and also like it was a peaceful family retreat to get away from our busy lives and spend quality time together in a gorgeous part of the world. If you are considering a visit to the area, there is no better place to stay than this amazing house and environs.

3 miles on from Clifden, you turn right, and at the top of the hill you pass the Alcock and Brown monument in memory of the first transatlantic flight and after that the Errislanan Riding Stables, and then at the very end of the single track road, as it appears to fall away into the sea, on the left hand side is Errislanan House - we have arrived and the holiday has started. What a great feeling. There is a little boat harbour immediately below the house - maybe one boat moated up - so the first thing we do is jump off the quay side for a splash and a short swim - it takes me a bit longer to get in if i am honest because the water is quite cold. That is the days activity completed and then into the spacious kitchen/living area for a drink and the chat. The views from the house are simply wonderful - stretching across the Atlantic with a handful of islands and heather clad headlands in the fore ground - the sunsets are even better - and if you were lucky enough to be passing (by sea most likely) - you would say to yourself - i wonder who owns that - well Marcus is the lucky man - and he is hugely welcoming and immediately contactable - assisted by the wonderful Karen who helps out with the cleaning and all that on a day to day basis. With 5 double bedrooms there is plenty of room and decorated to a good standard and ideal for a family holiday - but if you are more interested in marble en-suits with white soft carpets maybe consider an alternative in a higher price bracket! There is lots to do as well - hanging around the cafes and pubs in Clifden, gathering mussels, hill walking, cycling, walking around the headland, fishing off the quayside, swimming, golf, surfing, bbqs on the beach, boat trips - the list goes on ...... Say hello to Errislanan from us and I hope you enjoy your staying as much as we always do .........
