Very happy with the home, it provided everything’s we needed for this trip. It was a great home base for all of the activities we had planned.

This was a comfortable place to stay away from all the people and traffic. We loved the extra shower to shower off the sand without taking up the only bathroom. The sunsets across the road were beautiful. We loved sitting on the beach each night watching the sun go down. The only issue with the house was it was very hot. There are air conditioners in the bedrooms so we slept comfortably but the rest of the house was warm. We weren’t there much during the day so it wasn’t much of an issue for us. The house was well stocked. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Thank you for sharing your property with us

The house was perfect. My daughter said the size and floor plan for the 2 of us was perfect, would like the same setup in our town in California. All the essentials, easy to keep clean and organized, had our own personal space. The area is us, from a smalltown rural community fit us to a tee. We loved the islands chickens, not as much as most I presume. Every night a frog was in the backyard with his long legs and nosey stare. Maybe he was checking if I too was still there. A welcome nightly sight before bed. It truly is a wonderful place stay on the beautiful dry westside of the island. Some of the best activities are in close proximity without having to go to the larger towns. We loved Hanalei and beyond. Beautiful drive but......a long haul You won't be disappointed with this property. Communication with Scott, when needed was punctual and resolved.

Low key location in a small Hawaiian town in a real neighbourhood. Just a block from the ocean.
We’ve never stayed in a vacation rental that was so well appointed in terms of furnishings and kitchen needs, and well stocked bathroom cabinet with everything from Advil to Aloe Gel.
As someone who loves to cook and bake, I appreciated the quality of the pots and the quantity and choice of bakeware. Once we figured out the gas range, very impressed with its reliability!
Good reading selection ( “Aloha Rodeo”!), as well as cards, tennis racquets and balls, even 5 lb weights.
Quiet place from which to explore the beautiful island of Kauai.

Just what my family needed. A bit off the beaten path, an excellent home and yard with walking to quiet beach. Easy access to excellent hiking too. Great rental!

We loved this little house! It was the perfect sized beach house with a beautiful back yard, equipped with an hammock and an orange tree but we saw a few spiders so keep your eye out!the geckos were a fun addition and such a short walking distance to the ocean, that you can see from the front porch! I sat and had coffee listening to the waves every morning! Our host was very responsive and the lawn/garbage man was very nice! I would definitely stay here again!
5.0
House had everything we needed - 2 adults 9 yo 2.5 yo and 8 mo old.
It was nice to be in a neighborhood away from the main hustle and bustle, with access to Waimea just minutes away. Driving to other places around the island was simple and it was nice to come back to a cozy place.
The road noise and neighborhood noise was minimal - some chickens and dogs as to be expected and the occasional loud car but nothing like other "city" living I've done.
Communication with the hosts didnt need to be done while there, but every communication before our arrival was prompt and helpful.
I would definitely stay here again if given a chance.

We loved this place. Lots of nice personal touches that didn't make the house feel institutional at all. Beds were comfortable, great backyard, cozy. Felt at home here. Highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our time at this nice little house. It was very thoughtfully stocked and nicely maintained - which can be hard when so close to the ocean. Like others have mentioned, it's on kind of a busy corner but certainly wouldn't stop me from staying here again!

Great location for adventures and away from resorts, this cottage was the perfect place. After hiking in Koke'e and Weimea Parks and getting pummeled by waves at local Kekaha Beach or stunning Polihale, kids would wash off in the warm outdoor showers (while mom was in the clawfoot tub). One block walk to the beach to watch sunsets, and a front porch with view of the ocean for bringing in and out the day. Backyard including orange tree that we fresh-squeezed into juice every morning. Beach chairs, umbrella, snorkle gear, body board, guide books, blender, toaster, ice maker, AC in bedrooms, etc... Just perfect simple neighborhood place.

Enjoy the location of the property close to the beach. The walking distance was also convenient to just walk to the beach. Very quiet.

My wife and I (in our early 60s) found this to be a very pleasant, affordable cottage for two within a 5 minute walk of the beach. While not luxurious, it was very comfortable and we would definitely consider staying here again.
We enjoyed the quiet of being far from the big luxury resorts and slept comfortably. The home was furnished with all you could hope to find; the kitchen was well stocked with everything you could want if you wished to cook at home. The outdoor shower was welcome after a day at the shore.
We found ourselves (along with other residents and tourists) walking daily the few steps to the beach to enjoy each evening’s sunset. We found the school across the street to be quiet and the neighborhood peaceful.
Newcomers to Kauai May find it a bit far to the various tourist attractions, especially Hanalei Bay. But we found it a charming home away from home on the drier southern side of the island.

House was very clean. Check in was easy. Inside was very nice. Ocean views from front porch and living room. Stocked with basics. Host communicated quickly. Checkout was a breeze. Overall great stay and would highly recommend.

I stayed here for a two week work trip. The house was in close proximity to the base which was really nice. The backyard was a little oasis with a hammock. The house was very comfortable.

Wonderful location and allowed for a very unique and beautiful experience.

Lovely little spot just one block off the beach in Kekaha. The town is quaint and quiet, and great for folks looking to disconnect and relax. The house has all of the amenities you’d want, comfortable living area and the beds were cozy. Would recommend staying here to anyone who wants to spend some time on Kauai’s west side.

A charming home with everything we needed for our family reunion event in Kekaha. The instructions were concise, and it was simple to retrieve. There are extra keys inside for use during our stay. Check in was easy as the key is in a lock box. Plenty of contact information in case any issues arose. Communication was great with our host, Scott. I loved the big shower. Lots of space, hooks, open air design, great water pressure, removable head and plenty of body wash, shampoo and conditioner. The home was spotless and well stocked. I enjoyed the ceiling fan in the bedroom. It worked so well, I didn't need the window air unit. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of pillows. It was a nice treat to have a supercharger/alarm clock. It charged up my devices quickly. The kitchen had all one would need including a variety of spices. The ice machine worked well and kept us stocked with ice the entire stay. The home is one block from the beach. So convenient. There are beach chairs and a body surfboard for use. The Thrifty Mini Mart, next to the post office in Kekaha, has delicious poke and plate lunch available for a reasonable price. The business is small and does not look like much, but worth it. For luxury tea and coffee, just 3 miles to Waimea, we found Aloha 'N Paradise who made a perfect lavender matcha latte for me. The evenings were quiet, cool and breezy. A perfect respite for our busy days. Simple checkout. I would stay here again.

Absolutely loved staying in this beautiful, historic cottage! Quaint and comfortable! Super area to explore! Highly recommend!

Perfect place not touristy. Clean, well stocked including beach chairs and towels. Close to Waimea Canyon, Napoli coast boat tours Lihue airport, Polihale Beach. Awesome sunsets a block away! Perfect location and house!
5.0
This is a super clean and quaint home on west side of Kauai with views of ocean from front porch. A small beach with excellent sunsets is a short one block walk. A more substantial beach with life guard is about 1 mile north. The waves are excellent here for boggie boarding (watch for strong rip currents).
Pros about house:
- soaps provided (shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, dish soap, hand soap)
- no body wash
- comfortable beds
- bedroom window air conditioners cooled the rooms very well for sleeping
- games to play
- large private back yard
- close to Waimea Canyon
Cons:
- watch the dryer as it does not automatically shut off (it will keep running)
- located across street from a small private school there is traffic during drop off and pick up times. So if you are looking for peaceful cup of coffee on front porch during the week might be best to walk to the beach with your coffee.
- if you are planning to spend time on North Shore (Hanalei, Tunnels, Kalalau Trail,) is is about a 1 Hour 50 minutes drive one way.
Overall we would stay here again!

Our plans included hiking at Waimea canyon and a snorkeling excursion. So the location of the house was perfect!

This property was amazing. There literally wasnt anything that wasnt supplied, everything worked perfect,it was decorated nice, was very clean upon check in and was an all around great place to stay. There wasn't a list a mile long of things to do before check out and everything was ready to go when we got there. The location being right across the street from the ocean was an added bonus! If you want to get away from a charmless, brand new construction condo or house and stay somewhere with some character and charm....this is the place!

We had a great stay at Kala Cottage. The house was well stocked (including bug spray, thank goodness) and very comfortable. Our kids loved playing in the yard and walking to the beach every night for the sunset. Our only small complaint was how surprisingly busy the intersection is that the house is on. It's a small town but the road seems to be a main passageway through town, including the Kauai bus. It wasn't too noisy and the majority of cars are driving slow and safely, it just made it hard to allow our kids to play in the front yard without very close supervision. Again, not a huge issue since there is a spacious, enjoyable backyard.
The house was perfect for our family of 4 with plenty of space to hangout, eat, play, and sleep. We loved the town of Kehaha and the neighbors were super nice. Waimea is just up the road for groceries and yummy restaurants. Can't wait to return to this side of the island!

The home itself was so cute and clean, with the little extras that make the stay special. The host was responsive and helpful when it came to questions about the home or recommendations near by. Close to Waimea canyon but far from most attractions that you think of when you think Kaua’i. If you don’t mind a little drive for restaurants etc this place is for you!
5.0
Great place to stay on the “west” side of Kauai. Short walk to Kala Beach which is very relaxing with nice mid morning shade, fine sand and beautiful sunsets. The water was nice for wading and wave play but would definitely recommend only experienced swimmers venturing out. Kekaha Beach with a lifeguard is just down the road. The house is comfortable, nicely decorated and has everything you need for a stay. You will be the only tourists staying in the area as it is set in a local residential neighborhood. The locals we met were very friendly.

Nice cottage, great location, excellent host. We'll definitely come back next time in Kauai. Thanks again for hosting us.

Clean and Great Location
This is an amazing property. Don’t hesitate to book. Owner is great with communication. Perfectly located by the beach. I would stay again.

Comfortable accommodation in neighborhood setting.
The house was great just needs a few items checked out. The ceiling fans could be adjusted to work at all settings and the tv was difficult to operate but who watches tv in Hawaii when you have the beaches.

My daughter and I had a wonderful time while on Kauai and coming home each night to the Kala cottage was something to also look forward to! I’m already planning our return for Christmas break! Thank you!

Comfortable with lots of useful beach chairs umbrella and water amenities. Would rent again

quaint cottage
Exactly as expected. The kitchen was well stocked including an espresso machine which we used every day. All items need for a day at the beach were. readily available. The backyard with a barbeque was very pleasant. Our only issue was that the beds were quite hard and a bit uncomfortable. Thank-you for allowing us to experience Kauai with a great cottage to return home to every evening.

Downside
We enjoyed our stay here. However it’s not senior friendly, my mom is 80 she tripped several times over the unusually high transition/thresholds going from room to room. Very hard getting across the yard and up the front steps .... roots from tree , and no hand rails . And no handrails going down to and in the shower. These are just suggestions to make it safer for elders , otherwise we had a great time !

We really enjoyed our week at this house. It's very solidly built, very cleaned, and extremely well-provisioned in terms of stuff like cookware, beach chairs, etc... Kehaka is definitely the quiet side of the island, but that was fine with us. We are into hiking, and the proximity to Waimea Canyon, and hikes to overlooks of the Napali Coast, was perfect for us. We ended up having most dinners at the property, usually after having walked over to the beach to watch the sunset. The gas grill in back is a high-end KitchenAid and worked very well for us. Having the town of Waimea nearby was handy for groceries, shave ice, shrimp lunches, etc., and it wasn't a bad drive at all to Po'ipu and all of that area's attractions. We would definitely stay at this house again. Excellent.

Great local place away from the resorts!
We loved our stay at the cottage. We spent two weeks there hanging out at local restaurants and beaches. The cottage is one small block from a gorgeous beach where we walked for hours barely seeing anybody. The house is very clean and everything we needed. The kitchen was well supplied with everything we needed to cook meals. There were lots of little extras. There are only room air conditioners but it’s enough to sleep comfortably. It’s not the best neighborhood, but we had no problems at all. It is a very busy intersection. All in all, we had a very good stay. We appreciated all the brochures and books and suggestions on where to stay and what to do. Loved the outdoor shower and BBQ. Great communication with our host! And after we left, we got a call from the housekeeper who let us know we forgot our iPad. We were very impressed with that!

Kekaha beach house 19
We really enjoyed our stay - house is very nicely appointed - loved the outdoor shower enclosure. Glad we had air cond. - was in the 90s while there and overly humid but the beach is just a block away.

Solid choice
Propert was as advertised. Refrigerator was not working initially, but the property manager was responsive, supplied ice and cooler as a stopgap, and arranged for next day repair (fan motor).
