Das Homestead Hideaway liegt auf einem wunderschönen, 1,2 Hektar großen bewaldeten Hügel und bietet Ihnen eine einzigartige Gelegenheit, sich in einer ruhigen Umgebung auszuruhen und zu entspannen. Unsere Hütten im Wald liegen nur 24 km von Galena, Illinois, entfernt und sind Ihr zweites Zuhause. Genießen Sie Galena, Chestnut Mountain, Wandern, Weingüter und alle anderen Annehmlichkeiten, die Jo Daviess County zu bieten hat.

My husband and I had a great time staying at the cabin! It had everything we needed to have a relaxing weekend! Would highly recommend.

We booked the Seven Sisters Suite last minute - I think it was the only dog-friendly property available in a 20 mile radius for the weekend. It is remote as noted, and don’t expect cell service (though we did have 1 bar of service sitting on the balcony). Place was spotless and comfortable, plenty of space for my husband and I and are daughters (7 and 9) and our mini goldendoodle. We used the grill (there happened to be a half bag of charcoal leftover, which was lucky bc we completely forgot to buy charcoal and it would be at least a 30 min drive to go pick up more) and the fire pit for s’mores. Beds were comfortable and we all enjoyed watching the cows in the pasture across the street. The dog and I did a quick walk up the gravel drive and down the hill through the paths cut in the brush and it was lovely. We all remarked on how dark it gets in the house at night with the curtains closed. Like pitch black. Enjoyed going to the pool at Apple Canyon Lake. My one gripe is that the lower level was rented so I felt a bit bad for the ruckus our girls were making as they ran around exploring. I felt less bad when I was woken from a deep sleep after midnight by the downstairs neighbors who were talking loudly and maybe (based on the explosion/shooting sounds) playing video games? I put the white noise option on my phone and that fixed it. Would recommend screen doors be installed on the exterior doors. Lovely stay.

Anniversary getaway. Cabin was very everything we expected. Was nice to sit on deck and just hear sounds of animals in the area and loud noises. Grilled out, played and watched videos. Was nice to just relax

Quiet & secluded. The property is "away" from everything. But also a short trip to great hiking, fishing, and Galena. Quiet nights to enjoy family and fires. Busy days to enjoy the outdoors. If you want to get away, this is a great spot.

This would have been our 6th time we used this cabin. It is always neat, clean, and for us a perfect location! Unfortunately the weather in mid-January was snow and freezing temps would/t allow us to make the trip. The HOST was amazing and allowed us to make other arrangements. We will be back to the area in a couple of months and truly look forward to spending the time at the cabin, and with family. Deana made a stressful decision ... stress free! Thank you and we look forward spending time in the area!

It was exactly what we needed. It took a couple hours to adjust to not having internet, texting or TV. But it was perfect once we adjusted. The location is beautiful and close to Galena. Plus, we had a blast listening and dancing to live music at Cajun Jacks in Elizabeth. The only suggestion, download music before you get there. No internet means no Pandora, Amazon Music or Apple Music unless you download the songs ahead of time. But overall, it was a perfect getaway. Highly recommended.

Made for a special Christmas experience with the family. Glad Santa found the cabin because it is far out in the hills of Elizabeth.
If you’re not familiar with the countryside, you shouldn’t be surprised if there are a few lady bugs here or there. Farmers release millions of them a year to fight off other crop pests. It’s common and they don't hurt no body.
There is very limited cell if you go on the porch. Just enough to get a “made it” text out.
The cabin was clean with plenty of instruction around it in picture frames of how to keep it so for others. The appliances all work, there’s plenty of dishes, firewood for the wood burning stove, lots of dvd’s with fun movies for kids and adults.
Sports car friendly, no big pot holes around to navigate. Lovely windy roads that would make any car guy grin.

My husband I stayed at this property over the weekend and truly couldn't have enjoyed it more. The cabin is amazing - so cozy and nice with a wonderful pot belly stove for fires. It's perfectly rustic with all the amenities you could need and the decor was perfect. It was also meticulously clean.
We brought our dog and had a blast exploring the secluded grounds. Additionally driving to the beautiful nearby State Park and Gelena were easy.
I don't think the pictures do this place justice, it was so charming and cozy we were sad to leave. Definitely hoping to make it back some day!

We loved our stay at this cabin. It is in a beautiful, remote setting. The beds were very comfortable and there was a nice selection of DVD’s since there is no Wi-Fi. We hope to come back at someday!

The area where this cabin was located is remote but within 15-20 minutes of Galena. We enjoyed the decor and amenities made for our comfort. It was quiet and peaceful at night. The kitchen had everything you would need if you decided to cook (minus the groceries of course). I would highly recommend you bring DVDs for viewing as there is no internet, cellular service or tv reception. Your other option is to play games or take time to have conversation.

Our family of 5 plus 1 furry child had an amazing stay , it was so nice to not have wifi/internet . The kids played outside , we meet neighbors down the road , took our dalmation Ariel on many long walks in which she sat at watched the cows. Everything was perfect and expected from the beginning. The pool access and beach was unexpected but such a blessing for the kids to swim and make new friends . My husband for sure use the grill fpr steaks , and enjoyed sitting next to fire pit. We absolutely loved our say and the Sister's Suite cabin. It was the perfect getaway for us and we loved the rustic cozy atmosphere. We also loved that it was very secluded with no wifi, tv, and internet. My wife and I spent our nights together on the balcony with no electronic distractions which is something we definitely need to do more of! We also enjoyed the amenities of Apple Canyon Park. We both agreed that we would love to come back again!

The cabin was perfect for unplugging and reconnecting as a family. It was cozy and had all the comforts of home and then some. We loved the cattle across the street, the barn cats, and the wildlife that we saw (and heard) while sitting around the firepit. We were happy to be able to bring our dog for mini getaway as well!
The cabin, though remote, is close enough to various touristy places (Galena) if thats your thing. We preferred the hiking at Apple River Canyon State Park. There are plenty of cute little shops in town (3 Sisters Sweet Shop & E-town Coffee) as well.
Communication with the owners was easy and the check-in/check-out process was super easy.

Before anything else- be aware there is no cell service or wifi here and plan accordingly! This ended up being perfect for us, as it forced us to disconnect from the world and just enjoy our surroundings. The cabin was exactly as represented in the photos and felt cozy, secluded, and warm while still having creature comforts like air conditioning and hot water. No body wash or shampoo so stop at a store on the way in (there's a Dollar General a few miles away). The cabin is roughly 15-20 minutes to Galena and a few different vineyards.
The nature around the cabin was perfection- we heard so many unique bird calls and even saw a gopher or woodchuck across the road! We would def come back.

It was peaceful. Secluded. We enjoyed an indoor fire each night.Firewood was provided. Took along relaxing bath in the ole claw leg tub. Took an evening walk outside. Enjoyed watching the baby cows across the street. Cooked out with the grill that was provided. We were there Easter weekend and it was also my husbands Birthday. It was a short drive into Galena but the country ride was enjoyable. Lots to see on the way there and back.The only thing I wish was different is I wish there were curtains in the kitchen and living room. I have watched to many movies to not be scared. Lol Highly recommend a visit if you get a chance/

We had a wonderful stay at this cozy getaway! Checkin was a cinch, property was very clean and well appointed. The location was beautiful- remote enough to see a sky full of stars and close enough to make a quick trip into Galena for a lovely dinner. Great hiking trails nearby to walk the dog too! It was perfect for us. The property manager was very prompt and helpful. We would highly recommend!!

We wanted a relaxing trip in a cabin in the woods and got it. We had a great NYE with friends playing games and listening to music. Close enough to pop into Galena for shopping and dinner or a trip to the distillery for cocktails. Great say for sure.

A perfect getaway from the city. If you like a beautiful and comfortable cabin, waking up to birds singing, seeing deer and turkeys and even cows across the way, a dark sky at night and peace this is the place to stay. Not far from apple canyon state park and galena.

This is the second time my family and I have stayed at this home. It was just wonderful! We enjoyed the ability to connect in a way that we are unable to do when cable/internet is readily available. We were able to walk around the property, explore Galena, and had lots of fires in the cozy fireplace. We hope to return soon!
