The room was fine and had a small communal kitchen to use and access to a gym downstairs. Nice self-serve breakfast.

A simple breakfast consisting of some packaged pastries, cereals, juice, milk and brew your own coffee was included in the price. Everything was super clean. Late check in (until 11pm) was allowed by dropping by at the gym next door. And free use of the gym was included (however we did not use the gym). The location is great if you're attending by car as there is loads of street parking available. Private bathroom came complete with bidet and 3 pronged drying rack for either towels or minimal laundry if you needed it (ex drying a swim suit).

The location is not particularly great if visiting the city center by foot as it's about half an hour away. We knew this going in and still decided to stay because we were using a car. The room included a TV but when I tried to turn it off I couldn't because the remote control had a faulty on/off button (I quickly remedied this problem by pulling the plug from the wall). Unfortunately I forgot to report this to the hosts.

bit rundown,, bit like a backpacker hostel, tho room was ok, clean,,,, shower was poor, pipe was leaking,,, arcitrave around door was not attached properly,, decor was tired,,, kettle didnt work,,, cheap is not always the best, get what you pay for..

The building is close to the city center where you can find everything. Check in and check out was easy. The room was clean.

Amongst all the horrible things about this place the worst was the room itself. It clearly was originally a bigger room that they separated. Now it's one room and one common area which is only separated by very thin cardboard which is fixed to the wall with some tape. It was already coming off at the corners. You could hear and see everyone sitting in the common ear. Therefore it was really noisy at night and also i did not feel safe in the room. Anyone could just pull down the cardboard and enter the room. Additionally, the information about the rooms on the page are not accurate. It says the room is 40 square meters big. It's hardly half that size. I guess that measurement is from when the room was still joined with the common area. To conclude, I would not advice anyone to stay here unless every single other accommodation is fully booked.

everyday housekeeping

bedsheets and pillows are smelly. Haven’t wash the bedsheets. can’t sleep because of the smell. commode toilet is not fit well it’s shaking. horrible and dirty stay

As long as you're clear-eyed about what you're getting here, B&B Relax is a cheap place to stay in an expensive city. The lady who showed me to my room was helpful and courteous. The room was a reasonable size and equipped with the basics. Except for WiFi: this worked the afternoon I first connected, but by my return in the evening, my phone was telling me I was still connected, but the system had no internet access. To be fair, the facilities mentioned in the listing did not include WiFi to begin with. The place was clean, the bed comfortable, the shower functional. The self-serve breakfast was a welcome bonus. I have marked down the location as only 2 out of 4 but this is as much due to the layout of Messina as the B&B itself. Here, you're well-placed for eats and downtown shopping, but a long way from the historic old city. Nowhere could be ideally placed for everything. So sort out your priorities before booking.

I was a little concerned about privacy and security. I was staying in the Lipari room, which seems to have once been part of what is now the dining room. The two are separated by only a flimsy partition of formica boards, so there is effectively no soundproofing. You are also near a major dual carriageway, so there is traffic noise. The balcony door is secured by only a flimsy catch, and the whole balcony can be accessed by anyone from the dining room, or the next room along. This might be a particular problem in the summer, if you wanted to leave the door open to cool the room. A notice in my room clarified that B&B Relax is not liable for any loss of valuables.That said, all the rooms themselves are separated from public access by a locked main entrance door to and from the hallway.

This place was fantastic in this price range. The staff is lovely they interacted with full grace. They were not knowing English much and I did not know Italian but still we were able to communicate with love. Fantastic place, facilities and people.

The only problem was unavailable staff after 9:00pm-6:00 am. Which is quite natural. As they are also human beings. I suffered with the internet at midnight and no soap in the bathroom.

The room was lovely. Really clean and modern with an excellent bathroom...so big. The property is about a 30 minutes walk from the station. I got a taxi as it was late and I had just come off a train/ferry trip from Naples, but with light luggage it is very easy to reach. Alternatively, there is a tram stop "Trieste" which leaves about a 10 minute walk, turning right uphill to reach the property.
