Thin walls, noisy neighbours.

The staff are always lovely - welcoming and informative. Great old historic building. Good cooking facilities and communal spaces.

Sadly on the occasion we stayed there was a party running up and down corridors, knocking on our door in middle of night. It was a bit intimidating so we didn’t sleep and stayed put. Our room was possibly one of those in need of an upgrade, the last one we stayed in here was better and less expensive where as this was comparable to other accommodation only options in the town but more basic.

Good but real coffee would have been better but it is a hostel after all .

Bunk beds are great but if you are offering a double bed . Something slightly bigger would be good . My husband because he is 6ft 2 had to have it to himself . Too narrow and he couldn’t fit his legs in because of the bars at the ends of all the beds .

Great location in Alnwick! Very comfortable beds, spotlessly clean. Kitchen and dining area all lovely. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Beautiful old restored police station right in the middle of town, perfect location . Very clean and tidy and well presented .Room is tiny , but for the price it is perfect , the bed is super comfy , and restaurants and pubs are close by Highly recommend a stay here

I was travelling with my two children - a carefully budgeted trip that we’d looked forward to for a while - but I accidentally booked the wrong date. it was clear this was an error, if payed £75 for Monday night but only realised I’d booked the wrong date when they called to say I hadn’t shown up on the Sunday - I asked politely if they would mind moving my booking to the Monday night - I checked and this room was still available - a polite lady on reception had hoped to change my room seeing this was an honest mistake but the manager said no basically saying I had to pay again and they’d not refund me. this left me and my two children disappointed and really stuck. my budget is so tight (cost of living! pah!) that I couldn’t even afford a McDonald’s far less paying again for the trip. I’ll visit Alnwick again but will I stay here? no. left feeling really disappointed and like the manager didn’t consider the impact on me and my children. think outside the box managers! I wasn’t taking the mick and it screwed up other plans today.

only having reception on twice a day for 2 hours at a time. I was afraid to leave my room incase my key card wouldn’t let me in and reception wasn’t available to let me in There was a lot of reading emails after I made the booking this should have been available at booking time so I could make an informed choice of whether to book or not The mattress was hard so uncomfortable

bike store pump is broken, but easily fixable!

Amazing value - really good facilities for the money and the staff were absolutely lovely. Bike storage was like Fort Knox - amazed I managed to get the bike out again! Room clean and comfortable and the history of the building was really interesting, definitely added to the experience.

Veggie 'sausages' with breakfast were basically potato with some peas in, not entirely what I was expecting. Very minor point though!

Great breakfast. Excellent location (so close to the centre). Terribly nice people (guests AND staff). Value. Can't think of anything negative. If I needed to be so far north again, I'd book in a flash.
