The property was perfect for us. 6 adults and 2 littles under age 3. The kids loved the pool with the 1 foot shallow area to play in the water. Nice covered pool deck and lounge space. The house was comfortable and well equipped. The screened porch and grill area were perfect for at home dinners. The beach was just across the street and lovely. Very quiet and private feeling. We saw dolphins and manatees and the shelling was great fun!! We would definitely return. The host was wonderful to work with and very attentive to our needs. You won’t be disappointed if you choose to stay here!! 😎

This cottage was perfect for our group of three. Its a very short walk to the beach, and when we preferred the pool, it was steps away from the cottage. An eagle's nest near the pool provided constant entertainment.

We had a nice stay for our first return to Captiva in over 10 years. There was good communication with the owner/host. We were a group of 6–four adults and two children. My parents stayed on the bottom level. The one change I’d make if possible is to put a small fridge and coffee maker downstairs; they are older so it would’ve been nice for them to have a cup of coffee at their leisure before venturing upstairs for breakfast. It was nice being able to bring our dog and Captiva now allows dogs on a leash so that was perfect. Nice, relaxing stay prior to the craziness of Christmas.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. House was in great shape and pool was fantastic! Best part was the proximity to the beach which made access to the sand a breeze. Would definitely recommend!

Very homey and relaxing

Our two grown daughters stayed in the downstairs bedroom/bathroom/sitting room and could come and go as they wanted. We stayed upstairs, and we all ate, went to the beach and played games out on the porch. Peace and quiet! Really enjoyed the pool and the cottage.

Property grounds are very loved. Eagles nest right next to property. No inside access to 3rd bedroom, but this would not prevent me from coming back. Home is very well equiped. Beach access is a little tough if there are mobility concerns. Private pool is very nice and secluded. Overall extremely happy with both hostess and property. Would love to book 6 weeks instead of 2 the next time.

This property is one of our favorites! Its proximity to the beach is the best part. The owners have updated the basement and master bath since the hurricane and it turned out great. We loved our stay, despite the loss of many of our favorite hangouts prior to Ian. The property was the perfect place to unwind after a long day at the beach. We appreciated the cleanliness of the unit, the smart TV for streaming services and the kids loved the pool. The beach cart and sunshade made a big difference in getting to and spending time on the beach. Look forward to going back!

We truly enjoyed our stay at this property. It was perfect for our family of four. It’s unique that the lower level of the cottage is its own space with a full bathroom, separate entrance, sitting area, couch and bedroom area. It was perfect for our oldest son. Upstairs was spacious and had literally everything we needed to feel like we were at home. The porch is completely covered with screening. We enjoyed sitting on the patio furniture and lounge chairs when we weren’t at the beach or the pool. There is an eagle’s nest along side the property, we seen dolphins off the shore, just across the street. Margarethe was outstanding. She shared a plethora of fascinating facts and information. She was extremely responsive to messages. We sincerely appreciated chatting with her. We will definitely stay again!

Margarethe's beach home was so perfect it made our visit to Captiva very pleasurable. I like that our pets were welcomed without placing any restrictions. We enjoyed the private pool and the downstairs bedroom with living area as it made it easy to store our beach/fishing items and the shower downstairs was convenient. The back screened-in porch was so nice with beautiful furniture. Very peaceful to have morning coffee outside. The beach house is fully stocked with kitchen items. There are beach towels, chairs, beach wagon, cooler, etc. We went to the beach across the street a couple of days but Margarethe's place is very close to Blind Pass so we went there to fish. Overall, a great place to stay and we've booked for next year. Cannot wait.

We had an amazing time staying here for our anniversary this year. We come to Sanibel/Captiva every year and try new places to stay each time and so far, this has been our favorite. Being able to jump into the pool after a long day in the sun at the beach was refreshing and really added to the stay. We will be back!

This was by far the best house we have stayed on Captiva. We have been coming for 30 years without missing a single year. The 3 bedrooms were perfect. The pool was amazing, the Cabana by the pool was Rocking! And the beach being so close Literally across the street was just the icing on the cake! We will rent again this same home next year!!!

We have been to Captiva many times over the years as a large group. This was our first time with myself, my wife, and our youngest daughter. The home was perfect for us and had everything we could possibly need. The kitchen was fully stocked with essentials, plenty of pool towels, the pool was fantastic, and easy access to the local beach as well as Turners and Blind Pass. Thank you so much and we will definitely return!

The owner Margarethe is amazing first and foremost. So kind and courteous. We were curious about Captiva Island after the hurricane hit just 6 months prior to our visit. But the house was great, our weather was even better, and she was very helpful throughout. She made sure we were satisfied. You can tell she’s put a lot of time into the house post hurricane. Truly a great owner! Thanks again for everything.

Captiva Cottage was perfect for a girls weekend! Location was amazing and private. House has all the amenities, fully stocked with everything we needed and more. Pool was great. Enjoyed the screened in back porch. We rented bikes, rode to Captiva and Sanibel beaches. Owner was excellent. Cannot say enough great things. I would definitely stay here again!

Cottage was perfect for a family. Pool was absolutely fantastic! Short walk to the beach via private access and the beach was empty! The landscaping around this secluded house was like we were on the island alone. Thanks so much for allowing us to share your home to create a weeks worth of unforgettable family memories! The fishing was unbelievable! We caught shark (scalloped hammerhead, blacktip and sharpnose) plus pompano, snook, trout and even managed a juvenile Permit while fly fishing the surf. Wouldn’t change a thing and will return for sure!

What a beautiful property! The private beach was amazing! It was a very short walk. It felt like we were the only people on the beach. The house has everything you need from kitchen supplies to beach towels to beach chairs and toys. The pool was so relaxing. My teens loved it! The week just flew by. We were sad to leave.

The house is located really close to beach and restaurants. It is very private and has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. Look forward to coming back.

House had exactly the rooms and beds we needed. My parents stayed downstairs in the very roomy studio that has a bistro set, sofa, coffee table, tv, chairs, private full bathroom and queen bed. Only thing it doesn’t have downstairs is a kitchen. A mini fridge would be a great addition for the downstairs guests. Cold AC and separate entrance from the first floor that isn’t accessed through the main house, but worked fine for us. The main house upstairs has an open floor plan, updated kitchen and floors with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The Master bedroom has walk in closet, tv and private bathroom. Bathrooms are fairly dated, but clean and fully functional for a vacation stay. Large washer and drier set and grill were great bonuses. The pool area is phenomenal. It’s a very short walk to the beach (cross the street and one house down there’s an access path) Private wooded home was very peaceful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and for the price, you don’t find better in Captiva.

We loved our stay. The owners were easy to work with, the property has been recently renovated and the beach supplies provided were abundant. We loved how quiet the location was, especially the beach. During the busy summer months, we felt like we had the beach to ourselves. Note that the third bedroom is not connected to the rest of the home, but is a separate unit on the main level. Our oldest teenager was to sleep there, but then she decided it was too scary to be away from the family, so we squeezed our 3 kids onto the two twins in the second bedroom. It won't keep us from returning though. We can't wait to go back!

Beautiful, lush and private property. The house was comfortable and well stocked with everything that you need in the kitchen and for the beach. There was plenty of room in the upstairs and downstairs living areas for our family of 6 adults and our dog to hang out. The large screened in porch was great and the salt water pool, with its covered seating area, was fantastic! We spent most of our time at the pool and on the screened porch. We loved having the option of spending time at the beach, which was never crowded, and only a short walk across the street from the house, and then being able to swim and relax at the pool. If you are like us and don’t like crowds and love nature, you will love this property. It’s just a short drive into Captiva or Sanibel for dining, shopping, and exploring when you do want to socialize. Margarethe was a pleasure to work with, always responsive, and made the check in, check out process very easy.

We vacation as an extended family 3 times a year Many many times in Captiva This home was perfect. Fun times for all of us. Playing in the pool, going to the beach (so close and private!!) And clean!! Everything we needed was supplied. The kitchen is fully stocked Thank you!!
