Not a lot. The hotel is old and badly needs refurbished. Positives were staff were pleasant and breakfast was ok. Mattress was comfy.

Rooms are small, grubby, dirty and decor is old. The hotel is a throwback to the 1990’s. There was no safe in the room, so no way to protect your belongings. The shower was a handheld device in the bathtub which did not allow showering with comfort and space. Bedding was a sheet and two pillows. Towels were old and need replaced. Paint was flaking off the walls in places and the ceiling fan was filthy. I ended up paying 200MYR more than the stated price here when I checked in so beware of additional taxes and fees!

I've stayed at Cititel Penang before and found it good, so I booked again for this 1 night stay. The check-in staff were great, very helpful and friendly. All the same nice lobby area facilities, free parking for my car right in the hotel, and a good breakfast included in the price next morning.

Last time I booked a better room because I was staying for a week. This time I booked the cheapest deal on the booking.com page. I didn't expect such a big drop in the standard of the room. It was old, definitely worn out, and very basic. There was no safe in the room, which I thought is a minimum fit for any decent city hotel these days. But the bed was comfortable, and I wasn't doing anything but grabbing a few hours sleep anyhow. So I got more or less what I paid for and a cheap price. Next time I'll know not to book the very cheapest room!

Good location. Room and lobby were very clean and well kept. Pleasant staff and good parking availability at the time.

The room and bath were VERY small. It was ok for a quick trip, but for a longer stay it wouldn’t be comfortable. For the price and pictures we expected a larger space. Ordered more pillows, communication was a little difficult and we didn’t get what we ordered.

This was our second stay in Cititel Penang. The clean room, great breakfast and location. The location was in the centre of the City and walking distance to restaurants. The breakfast range and quality was great, the best we have had in Penang so far. The service of the staff of Main Street Cafe was good. The room though a bit small was clean and comfortable. When booking, we requested for a sea facing non-smoking room on a higher floor. The hotel accomodated our requested by giving us a room on the highest floor.

The massage at the Wellness Centre. We went for a couple massage and requested for Thai female Massage Therapists. But they appeared to call outside therapists. We got one Thai and one PR China therapists. The PRC therapist did not really know massage and just rub and bang. The Thai therapist was better but not great. For the price we were disappointed.

Location was excellent. Near Chulia Street and good transport links to the rest of the island. Room: On 19th floor with views over the sea. Good sound insulation, could not hear neighbours. Very clean. Bathroom had a good shower and toiletries provided. Bed was large and very comfortable with good quality linen. Common areas of hotel: Lots of comfortable seating on ground floor for guests. Two restaurants and a wellness suite with indoor swimming pool. Everything was tastefully decorated. Good that the hotel has it's own drive so that taxis can pull up with ease outside.
