it needs maintenance, I stayed at the property 40 years ago and not much has been maintained. the outer buildings are looking tired.

History, views, & rooms with balcony were amazing! Breakfast was good.

Village shuts down at night & limited options for dinner. You have to pre-order dinner at hotel.

Beautiful views. it is a wonderfull place. The stuff very helpfull and friendly. They help us to find the company to transport our luggage during our walk.

We loved everything about the hotel, the location was perfect.

The receptionist who checked us in was very unhelpful & made us feel unwelcome even before we got to our room!

Great location inside the walls of Valença. Confortable beds and spacious room with a very nice view to the river. Very good breakfast.

No emc plan posted. No amenities list. No phone directory. AC was weak. Electricity to our room cut off 3 times, needed staff to turn on again. Restaurant food was overpriced, minimal quantity and poor quality. Hotel is dated and needs to be retouched. Don’t eat there!

The Pousada de Valenca is set in or next to the old ramparts at the top of town. Although new, it blends in well with its surroundings. There are many windows and wonderful views. The small town itself is very walk-able. After sight-seeing I enjoyed sitting by the main lounge windows and after dark by the fireplace. Almost 3 sides of the restaurant are also windows and the food was very good.

The Pousada de Valenca was hard to find. Apparently it is also called the Pousada de S. Teotonio which we didn't know (or forgot) so we ignored the signs for this latter name. Even after we finally called and got clear instructions our GPS still led us astray (as it did in other small towns as well). Parking appeared to be limited even in the off-season so I'm not sure what happens when it is crowded.
