Beautiful hotel throughout and the rooms are very well appointed, I felt safe and considering the hotel is so close to the station it was very quiet at night

The spa is quite basic and small

It was gorgeous and clean.

Not sure if its a standard policy now, but not experienced it elsewhere — but you pay on arrival rather than checkout & then there was some confusion about whether we had paid for breakfast (which we had upfront) but then they marked a question mark by our name and just felt a bit lacking there for luxury experience. Also the room heating didn’t work (apart from the bathroom towel rail), i did get a little cold, but nothing major.

Best bathroom I have ever had in a hotel room. Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Staircase is out of this world. Staff are a credit to the hotel, very kind and helpful. We got parked right outside the hotel entrance, we have never been that lucky before. Ate in the restaurant in the evening, food delicious and service was second to none. Spent a hour or so in the jacuzzi, which was lovely. Would definitely stay at this hotel again if visiting York.

It was beautiful, staff were lovely and polite, nice pool with jacuzzi, and the garden's were lovely. Also an excellent location and the staff let us leave our bags the day of our departure so we did not have to carry them around whilst we shopped. Excellent.

The only negative was that the pipes in the room made it really warm, luckily there was a fan otherwise we'd have struggled with the temperature.

Room was very small

The hotel is very beautiful decorated. You can feel yourself just like a Royal person. I like the lobby and outside area is relaxing and amazing. It is very nice to have like saunas and pool time after walk in the city.

Classy Hotel with wonderful garden room, hall and grand staircase. Comfortable sitting areas. Friendly bar for a drink and meal.

Bedroom and bed small for the money. Shame no lift down to the gym.

Fridge noisy, alarms going off at 5 am and 5.30 am. Breakfast terrible food. Waiting around for plates, then coffee cups, then no coffee. Sausages terrible, beans, what beans just bean sauce

Breakfast, noisy fridge, alarms going off, bathroom door so close to sink when opening, bruised my hand three times. Staff slow in breakfast, 10 mins to wait for plates! It just got worse.

The quality of the food was excellent. A good choice of hot and cold food.

We were asked at desk if we’d like orange or apple juice, why ? There’s plenty on the buffet. I had to find a staff member in order to get some tea . It would be better to ask guests their preferred hot drink on arrival than which juice they wanted .

Lift only went to third floor - we were on fifth floor

Great location and wonderful building. Rooms were well maintained and appropriately decorated.

The beds were comfortable but the wheels could not be locked so the bed was a bit sensitive to moving around when sitting up. The WIFI signal in the room was also unusable, connection quality in the main hall was OK.

Excessive carpark fee on site. 35quid for 2 nights. Poor bed for price......

Booked on very short notice and got a very good rate including both breakfast and dinner. Large, old style hotel with impressive interior. Located right next to the train station, which was very convenient.

We were in the annex which is attached to the main hotel but is a very long walk and multiple elevators away from reception (which was, no doubt, one of the reasons for the good rate),

The room was great, large in size so good for luggage. Lovely bathroom and plenty of amenities. The view of the cathedral and town was incredible. Great so close to the train station and the noise of the trains is minimal. Staff were great and very helpful, let us leave the car parked when we checked out so we could walk into town for the day. Very helpful with room service too.

The phone in our room didn't work so we had to go down to reception for anything we needed.

The room was great for a suite. Clean and comfortable. Location was great especially those travelling by train. Good selection of teas and coffee and snacks available in room.

The lifts may need looking at. Small and couldn't carry much.

Great location and facilities, especially the common areas, bar and restaurant. Staff were pleasant and helpful (except for the pool area). Very handy old hotel right next to the station. Might be better to get a room on other side from station though 🙂

The room was quite small, hot and stuffy, couldn't open the window as noise from station delivery and drop off area just outside. Tried to use the pool which info booklet in the room said closed 30 mins before 6pm but was closed at 5.15 😒. Finally parking.....£17.50 for overnight parking outside hotel!

Restaurant needs a better menu Better choice needed

The most comfortable and relaxing stay. Beautiful room. Very quiet. Perfect temperature. Everything we needed was in the room. Loved the decor of whole hotel.

The only thing we didn't like was the triangular dinner plates because the cutlery kept falling off into our laps! Everything else was perfect! Well done to all your team.
