Zentrale Lage, sehr freundliches Personal, schöne Einrichtung auch in der Gastwirtschaft

In den Fenstern waren Schimmelspuren. Aufgrund des Denkmalschutzes sind es sehr alte Fenster, die sich nicht öffnen lassen. Dementsprechend ist es schwierig mit der Lüftung. Aber der Schimmel an den Fensterrahmen war leicht abwischbar.

Parking wasn’t easy.

Web site indicates hotel has parking; parking is in fact in street and payable by meter; nearest parking to hotel limited to one hour.

room was big, great location.

smokers sat on step outside and the smoke kept coming in to my room as i was above the front door. had to aske on several occasions for them to move. Hotel needs to ensure people do not smoke at the entrances.

Arrived late but met very friendly pub staff 🥹. The room is so lovely (and huge!! — coming from London and its vicinity). Wish I could stay longer but… maybe I’ll return to Lancaster next time, even just to stay here! I almost want to keep this gem and only tell family and friends, but the place deserves recognition. Bathroom is spacious with nice amenity. I really appreciate the cookie jar ☺️ and the emphasis on local produce from food to Cumbrian shower gel and conditioner. And I can’t be more grateful for that they kindly allowed me to store my luggage for a few extra days after checking out <3 Breakfast: beautifully presented and of nice portion. Though my egg was fried instead of poached as requested, the skill is not bad. Local sausage tastes delicious and meaty. Mushroom is well seasoned and buttery (something is probably microwaved- ding*). And it’s always enjoyable to have a proper full English with black pudding. Tea and brewed coffee and yoghurt and granola available too. Toast costs extra pound so I’ll save my carb quota for the later conference sandwich at the university. The dinner menu, also with local offerings, sounds quite nice and thoughtful. Sadly I couldn’t make to an earlier train.

The staff were helpful

We got put into room 2 and the room was dusty, marks on the furniture (not the cleaners fault some of the furniture needs replacing), the view was off a messy garden area where beer barrels were and staff were smoking ( I know they need somewhere to go so not blaming them but maybe try and keep it tidier if it’s a view from a bedroom), and in the evening trying to have a shower and the hot water wasn’t working. Was moved to another room the second night which was better but definitely could do with a freshen up! But essentially a whole nights stay was wasted.
