Ismael was a great host! He genuinely did all he could to assure our stay in Coimbra was wonderful, and it was! His place was in a very good location, the efficiency room has everything we needed, the bed was comfortable, etc. He picked us up at the train station and drove us back.

Shower might be a little tight for a large person. Heads up on Coimbra, there are lots of hills (just like Lisbon, Porto) and may not be an ideal destination for people who aren’t able to walk hills. We enjoyed the exercise!

Les capsules de café qui allaient avec la machine à café dans l'appartement. Les équipements ménagers était super ( lave linge, séche linge, grille pain, four, plaque). Nous y retournerons avec plaisir.

Le frigo un peu petit, c'est la seule chose un '' poil '' négative.

This was my second time staying at Casas da Alegria. Carlos is a great host. He picked me up at the bus station and took me back at the end of my stay. He or his son were always available by phone or text if I needed anything. The room is lovely.—clean and well appointed. It even had a washer/ dryer and kitchen facilities, although I used neither. The front of the building has two sets of windows, so noise is not an issue, and shutters keep the room dark for sleeping. It was a perfect location for me. Every morning I took a fairly steep, but short (7-8 min.) walk to the University for a conference (there's a less steep, but longer route, too), but that also meant a pleasant downhill walk at the end of the day, and it's but a five minute stroll to the old (lower, Baixa) part of town with restaurants. If I return to Coimbra, I will definitely try to make a reservation here. (Friends stayed and the nearby Sapientia boutique hotel and their experience was not nearly as good.)

The owner met us at a parking near the property and we went with his car to the accommodation. We stayed on the ground floor apartment. There was no balcony but that was not a problem to us. The owner gave a lot of information about Coimbra and pointed out his favorite restaurants. Most of the restaurants, shops and museum are nearby. The apartment was very clean and spacious. There is a kitchen with all appliances and a washing machine. We only stayed for 4 nights and even the towels in the bathroom have been changed after 2 nights. The bed was very comfortable. There is a huge parking across the river where you can park your car whole day for only 3 EUR/day (from 7 am till 8 pm).

It is a bit of a climb but Coimbra is in fact very hilly.

The hosts, Carlos and his son Ismael were very attentive, kind and gracious. They picked us up from the bus terminal, helped us with our luggage and showed us around the apartment before leaving us for our stay. Everything was wonderful.

Location is excellent. Ismael was a fantastic host, we arrived by train and he picked us up and gave us a short tour of the town by car which was a very useful orientation. During our stay he was quick to respond and help.out (thx for that fresh milk) and when we left we were given another lift. Place was old house that keeps it facade which is rather nice. The simple accommodation is relatively well equipped. Would definitely stay again if we ever make it back to Coimbra, a place well worth spending some time at.

It was a little expensive and there was a musky smell when we returned to flat which was quickly dissipated by opening windows. We took the ground level flat so we would not have stairs but it means people walk past your windows.

An amazing host Ismael. We were in touch prior to arrival and were given precise directions. Ismael kindly provided us with parking (paid but well worth it), took.us and our luggage with his car to the door of the flat. The flat was great, clean, comfy and with an amazing view and balcony! Ismael also made the time to explain about Coimbra and main attractions. I have never met such a friendly and caring host in all my numerous trips! The visit was exceptional. Would come again and stay longer ;)

The location is right in the center of everything, with great views of the water from the upstairs patio. Beds were super comfy, very clean place. The host gave us welcome port and nata and was super kind and helpful. For arrivaltThe host met us at a coffee shop they own up the street at the time we said we would arrive and helped us park our car and then dropped us with our luggage in the apartment.

They directed us to the coffee shop on arrival only if we could not find the apartment. But driving to the apartment is very difficult. I think they might want to just send everyone to the coffee shop and skip the directions to the apartment.

Exceptionally clean and comfortable. Great and plentiful hot water. Perfect location, close to everything you want to see. The hosts are absolutely wonderful! Offered complimentary pick-up at the train station and a quick orientation tour of Coimbra before checking in at the property. Ismael, who picked us up, was charming and incredibly helpful with arrangements for a fado show, restaurant recommendations, and tips for must-see sights in Coimbra, as well as a drop-off at the car rental office upon check-out. Upon check-in we were treated to a welcome treat of pasteis de nata and wine. Our stay was everything we hoped for and we would not hesitate to return to Casas da Alegria.

The location is perfect. Things we wanted to see were mostly within a few minutes walking. The owners are very kind and very available. The room has a well stocked kitchen and laundry.

Good location. Transfers were excellent, with a valuable tour included. Nice to get local restaurant recommendations.

The location is near the riverfront, college, and shopping area. You could walk everywhere. There was a small view from the room in the bottom floor. The room was clean and tidy with all amenities including coffee and laundry soap. The host, so ever friendly, picked us up from the train station and dropped us off at the bus station when departing. (Make sure you have some euros for tipping, because after their spectacular service, you’ll wish you did!!) Highly recommend!

Everything about Casaa da Algeria is fantastic: location, space, amenities, terrace, lively and tasteful design, etc. But what was best about it for our stay was the host, the owner’s son Ismael. Friendly, enthusiastic, kind, thoughtful, attentive. He picked us up from and took us to the train station. Soooo helpful. We want to adopt him. We will definitely return. Don’t hesitate—just book it; trust me.

The location is excellent. It is on the far side of town which means it is blissfully quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was spotless clean. Beautiful woodwork in the rooms and hotel.

The location was perfect. The apartment was perfectly clean and completely equipped. And that was really important, because my luggage was lost on the way to Portugal, and I unexpectedly needed a washing and drying machine. The hosts are very nice and willing to help.

Ismael picked us up and gave a great intro to the apartment as well as Coimbra. It made arriving to a new city a a very easy experience. We felt welcomed and had everything we needed - including the ability to do laundry in the unit. The location and views from the terrace were wonderful. If we ever return to Coimbra in the future, we'd definitely stay at Casas da Algeria again!
