very close to the beach, the structure is nice with potentially comfortable spaces

the common spaces are dirty, a fridge is broken, so only a very small one remains for too many people. The free food that people leave in the hostel is thrown in a godforsaken open box eaten by mice. In the room our mattress was really done, the springs dig into your flesh. The staff is friendly, but made up of springbreakers volunteer who make noise at night, don't keep it clean and don't wake up in the morning to stay at the reception.

Volunteers were super friendly and all facilities at the hostel were perfect (kitchen, outside shower)! And I love how las mariposas got it’s own community of people walking in and out who love to take you with them to places/parties. Exciiiiiiiiiting!

The rooms could use a little more cleaning; taking away spiderwebs etc.

The hostel has a pretty good common/social area and it's easy to meet and chill with other travellers. Everyone was pretty friendly and had a good vibe to the hostel. Its also just a minute walk away to the beach and about 5mins walk into town where you can find various resturants, ATMs, supermarket and bus stop to other locations.

Admittedly the hostel infrastructure is in dire need of renovation....and sadly it can't be ignored. If this was overhauled the place would be much much better and easily one of the best hostels in Samara. Bathrooms - The shower in my dorm did not work at all due to water pressure issues so we all had to use the outdoor shower or the other only shower downstairs. The downstairs bathroom piping needs to be fixed as due to the number of people using it means that it's either always filled with shower water or with black sludge that has come up the drains (see photos). Pillow - Unfortunately, the pillow on my bed wasn't great and really just needs to be thrown out. Lots of mould and dirt on it (see photos). Had to remove this and stuff the pillow case with my own clothes as I just didn't think it was sanitary. AC - No AC in the dorms, just one fan between 8 people which means that it gets incredibly hot and stuffy in the evenings when trying to sleep.

The only bad things about this place is that it was super loud. The restaurant beside plays lots of music and it doesn’t seem like there’s any quiet hours so it can get noisy at night.

The totally relaxed atmosphere, the great cohesion of all the people here, the community games and activities. The staff is very helpful.

The people are amazing - I was only there two nights but immediately felt like part of a family. The location is also perfect as it's about 1 minute from the beach and no more than 5 minutes from anywhere in Samara

Such a chilled vibe here, staff super cool and will help with anything. Clean kitchen with plenty of kit. Free coffee all day is a win. Plenty of hammocks to relax between the golden hour either side of high tide to surf! Cheap surf hire literally 50m away down the track.

The sink in the dorm was originally draining slowly but then it was unblocked by staff so allll goood!

I loved my stay here. The staff is so friendly and you are very welcomed here. The location is perfect, super close to the beach and the stores. I loved they have dumbbells here incase you want to work out and the dorm room is also super nice and very spacious!!

The Hostel Is perfectly located between the beach and the main Street. The staff was very Kind and helpful. We had friendly chats and got good recommendations for our trip. the hostel itself is very cute, cozy and creates a lovely atmosphere. I would highly recommend a stay in las mariposas if you come to samara and want to have a relaxed time.

Staff is really nice and friendly, there is a chill atmosphere. Quite clean, and there is hot water for the shower. Excellent position.

Quite old, not well kept building. The entrance is busy with cars and rugs hanging to dry, does not really welcome the guests. Too noisy, you can hear all that happens around you. All in all I am sorry to say overpriced considered the actual offer.

Absolute little gem. A stones throw from the beach, amazing staff, super chill backpacker vibe yet made us (a family) completely welcome. Jonathan makes everyone feel at home and is the ultimate host. Loved every minute in the garden hammock -definitely plan to return.
