Wonderful staff. Clean, comfortable and quiet room. Very nice garden and outdoor seating areas.

Booking.com has the hotel pinned wrong. It is a twenty walk up a steep hill, not just off the main road. The walk down is pleasant but we had to take taxis to get back up.

Its a beautiful property with courteos staff and delicious food. It offers great views .

It's a colonial-style heritage property. Breakfast is very good. We also had dinner which was delicious.

Pros: 1) Location is around 1.5 kms from main bazaar area, which is easily walkable for people with even average fitness. It's a good peaceful walk actually. Therefore, the property is away from the chaos of the market area but not too far away. 2) Cleanliness: The entire property was extremely clean and tidy and we could see the staff cleaning the corridors and common area at regular intervals. The room and bathroom were spotless. 3) Staff Behaviour: Every staff member that we interacted with, right from the guy at the reception to the Restaurant Manager to the electrician guy, every one was polite, cheerful and respectful. 4) Food: We ordered dinner on our first night - Noodles - and the taste and serving size were good. Food prices are a bit on the higher side but once the food arrived, we found the price to be worth it. In fact, room service was better than the complimentary breakfast during our entire stay. 5) Room: The room was big with a wonderful mountain view (3rd floor), and decorated aesthetically. Bed was comfy. Room had a wardrobe with a safe, tea/coffee area, a couch.

Cons: 1) Breakfast: It could be because we were just one of 2-3 other guests at the property (this being off season), but the breakfast on all days had extremely limited options. It's not a buffet, but a set choice of 3-4 items. Our first night, I wanted to have South Indian, and was told its a breakfast item only. But it wasn't available even at breakfast. It's not a big turn off for me, but just putting this out there for others who may find it important. 2) Room: It was 11 degrees when we reached Kalimpong, but the room did not have any heating provisions (heater/ electric blanket). However, when we asked for it, a heater was put in our room promptly. 3) Lift: There is no lift, which may be a big factor for the elderly or disabled. We were allotted a room on the 3rd floor, which was quite a climb 2-3 times a day. The property on the whole is pretty and quaint, with a good, professional support staff and I would definitely think of staying here again.

Nothing!

Nothing was good. WE had left the keys in the morning for room cleaning and when we returned late evening, our rooms were as we had left. No one cleaned. Each one started blaming the other. We wanted some food items in the menu and most of them were not available. They always had the excuse that as there was a large group they cant make anything for a family of 6 and that we should adjust with that. The chef was so incompetent that even simple things like chicken momo or chicken pakora he could not make. The manager and staff always had excuses. the hotel was understaffed. Overall a bad experience.

There is a gap in booking.com room details and the actual rooms available at the hotel which is very confusing. That needs to be corrected.

1. Hospitality. The entire staff is always ready to help you out with any sort of request with a smile. 2. The food was amazing and customisable 3. The old world charm of heritage wing 4. Cleanliness 5. Ambience 6. The property is little away from the city center; it is a boon for the travelers looking for tranquility

The breakfast spread was adequate and the taste was good. Not exceptional, but nothing to complain about.

The property is compact, with hardly any grounds except for the small space in front. Photos on travel websites can be misleading. The rooms were tired looking, run down and very poorly maintained. The window frames looked dirty, at least one pane was cracked, the bathroom had mould in the wet corners (behind the wash basin), the floorboards creaked like crazy and overall the room was cramped. Sterling has not spent time, effort or money to spruce up the place. It's as if they don't care. Please note, there are no lifts. You'd be better off choosing a room on the lower floors. We had 205 and 206 (first floor).
