Das Umami Hotel ist etwa 5 Gehminuten vom Strand entfernt im ruhigeren Teil Puerto Viejos gelegen. Das architektonische Konzept besticht durch die clevere Anordnung der Zimmer und Poollandschaft und transportiert so spürbar das Gefühl einer Ruheoase. Das Mobiliar war hochwertig und die Betten bequem. Am besten gefiel uns die Terrasse. Hervorheben möchte ich das aufmerksame und hilfsbereite Personal. Sie verleihen dem Hotel durch ihre offene Art eine besondere Atmosphäre.

Leider wird das Frühstück gestaffelt durchgeführt: Der Gast gibt zwar die Uhrzeit an, aber gerade im Urlaub will man sich nicht unbedingt nach Terminen richten. Zur Auswahl stehen zudem lediglich 3 Frühstückmenüs. Persönlich mag ich lieber Buffets, seien sie noch so klein aufgrund der Platzverhältnisse - dies wird offensichtlich der Grund für den Verzicht eines Buffetangebites sein. Als Anregung könnte diese Praxis überdacht werden.

Freundliches Personal, Frühstück, besonders typical 👌🏻 ausreichende Portion mit viel frischen Obst 🍉 🍌🍓🍍🍊 Das Personal hat unsere Probleme wahr genommen und schnelle gute Lösung für uns vorgeschlagen. Das war echt 👍 sehr gut.

Beds were comfortable. Other things disappointed.

Bathroom needs renovation: it was not clean, shower broken. Also poor pressure in the shower. There were no hair conditioner and shower gel and shampoo were the cheapest thus very bad quality. Hotel do not meet 5* requirements, I would give it max 3*. Not worth it for the price you pay. Maximum I would spend is 50-70$ a night. Very small swimming pool, not enough pool beds. There were no pool towels at times. Breakfast choices very limited. Even when you reserve time for breakfast you are not seated immediately, sometimes you need to wait 10-30 min. Room cleaning started when we were having breakfast and then we needed to wait to be able to come to the room. Overall, bad experience.

When the neigbors doors shut, they slam. You could hear through the walls.

my favorite part of the property is that is Adults only. it’s also small and it feels so intimate, perfect for couples. it’s somewhat hidden, so when you are driving to the location you don’t think the hotel is going to look like what you see in the pictures but let me tell you that once you get there and you walk inside it’s beautiful. The staff was amazing. Raymundo was either the manager or big time boss, I don’t know, but him and his staff were so kind and so helpful all the time. Raymundo talked to the guest to see how their day was and if they needed anything. Also breakfast was included and it was a healthy and delicious option. I would definitely stay here if we ever return to Puerto Viejo. I 100% recommend.

I can’t think of anything I disliked about the hotel.

the location, rooms and pool were great. very clean and modern.

the hotel is overpriced for what it offers. no lunch/pool snacks are offered, there is only breakfast which is the same 3 items every day. There is only 4 sunbeds available when there are a lot of people staying in the hotel. our aircon was broken for most of our stay but the management did compensate us for this which is positive. the water pressure of the shower is very weak and mainly cold water, very temperamental.

Staff were very helpful with arranging transfers and local recommendations. Thank you Rodney and Tony.

it’s next to a huge pylon

It’s a really nicely decorated modern hotel. The bed was massive and really comfy. The rooms are cleaned everyday and the staff were friendly. The pool was nice and the breakfast that’s included is really good! It was a treat for my birthday and they gave me a free bottle of wine and a card. It was a really nice and relaxing stay. Very quiet in the evenings too.

It is very expensive. Although it’s a really nice hotel, I would say it is overpriced, especially for the location, as this was one of the most expensive hotels around. The breakfast included makes it more worth the money. I thought the bedroom was slightly smaller than expected, with the shower being part of the bedroom. The lounge beds by the pool advertised in many photos are exclusive to the more expensive bedrooms (which is misleading) and the mini bar is filled with drinks that are very overpriced.

Rooms are excellent, spacious and comfortable. From what we saw, it was definitely the best quality hotel in the area and great value for money.

We had the only room without a terrace of balcony, so be sure to ask for one before you check in

Everyone were friendly and helpful, the place was clean and the breakfast was good.

lovely contemporary design. beautiful pool. the rooms are nicely decorated.

the lighting in the rooms is odd. the uplighting over the bed wasn’t working. while breakfast was good, you have to book a time which ended up being way too early for us.

We liked everything, but for the breakfast there could be some more health choices

I loved how we had fresh flowers and fruit from the locals each day. Got served multiple choices of breakfasts

Wasn’t the hotels fault we left food out and got ants in our room. We are in a rainforest remember that so make sure to throw away food and don’t leave it out.

- Nice Pool (small but in my opinion as shown on the pictures of the hotel and fairly enough given that there is a beach) - very good room size with comfortable bed - day bed incl for personal usage - staff is very friendly and accommodating - cocktails are good, prices in the hotel for additional drinks etc are not overpriced

- breakfast is of good quality for the hotel price i would expect a bit more - room and daybed is directly across the breakfast room and reception, somehow you feel a bit watched, but we got used to it ;) so not a big topic - daybed gets wet obviously often so it’s a bit used > overall small points which did not impact our stay much
