Lovely place in Puerto Viejo on a quiet street, but still close to shops, restaurants and the beach. Very welcoming and helpful staff at the reception.

4 Faultiere! Affen div. Vögel
und uns viel von der Gegend erzählte.
Für diesen Preis war alles ok!

Lovely hotel with really friendly and helpful staff. They helped us book tuktuks and tours. Good location. We had a very pleasant stay.
The floor boards are slightly noisy, but people took their shoes off so it was not a big problem.

Loved the layout of the rooms and beautiful peaceful atmosphere of the hotel.
That there was no AC and cats around because I’m allergic :/

have to take off your shoes before going to my room

the location is excellent, plus the hotel is surrounded in a beautiful tropical garden. The dining area is beautiful with a new modern kitchen & appliances.
I have nothing to complain about.

Very beautiful rooms and infrastructure. Good location.
Breakfast was not bad but price-quality wise you can get a lot better in one of the restaurants nearby. The mosquitonets are beautiful but not very useful for their purpose. Ventilator wasn’t placed very well.Curtains are quite seethrough so privacy is not that great. The bathroom is also very beautifull and clean but has direct contact with outside and since there are no mosquitonets placed you have to battle quite some mosquito’s when going to the toilet or taking a shower.

Excellent location and very very clean. Excellent property with nice places to sit and relax. We booked a room with a shared bathroom but it wasn't as big of a deal as i thought it would be. The bigger issue was that the rooms had mesh windows with no glass panes. Basically if you're on the ground floor near the main seating area you can hear everything going on and they can hear everything going on in your room. Very little privacy and a bit weird to hear other people so clearly in your room. I would stay again since everything else was great, it's just something you should be aware of.
wish the rooms had window/glass windows so that you could close them and block off outside sound. There was something nice about having a nice breeze come into the room and hearing the birds signing in the morning but also hearing all the conversations everyone was having kinda sucked.

Reception staff were very friendly and helpful
Very quiet location
The bathroom had nowhere to put anything. Very expensive food and drink, even wanted to charge me for a mug of boiling water. Felt too much like a money making concern. The owner isn't particularly friendly to guests who aren't part of the language school.

Location great, very clean, excellent value = price. Lots of options for meals close by. Free water. Safe area and great security. The property has a lot going for it. A bit too concerned about being perfectly clean! Everyone loves it being clean but perfectionism isn't necessarily required. Spanish lessons were offered and that's a nice touch, turns out regular schooling and other people not staying at hotel do come in for lessons, this is good and bad as the customers don't have the peace and quiet at times due to classes in the open area. There are nice maps, huge ones clear to see of the surrounding area. Transportation companies know this location easy pick up and drop off.
Check in could have been better - I was not informed of the button to open gate to leave property, a guest showed me. I was not informed about the water fountain near front for cleaning shoes and sand off when returning, another guest showed me. I didn't like that there were no mini fridges or way to keep anything cold or ice available, no shared fridge even. The front desk overall wasn't super friendly or helpful, a few times they couldn't even lift there eyes from their computer, it came off as being snobby. When asking a simple question or two it seemed like I was an intrusion to their time, not guest and customer focused. No one, neither owner nor front desk took anytime to get to know me etc...and well this was odd for a boutique hotel. It's still a great clean place, super incredible value and location, lots going for it, cool outdoor bathroom, good pest control they just need to decide if they want customers or not - they have 85% occupancy average so maybe that's good enough for them.

The place is very nice. The patio/garden is beautiful, the room was simple but nice, the bathroom as well. It seemed pretty clean.
They have some strict rules which make the stay in this nice hostel less pleasant than it could be. They have a beautiful open kitchen right there on the ground floor - which guests can't use (luckily they were nice enough to lend us a plate and fork to cut fruits). They have a beautiful patio with tables and places to sit comfortably - but you cannot consume any drink or food unless bought from them (quite expensive). They have ropes to hang the clothes, which is thoughtful, but they were in the shades the whole time and the clothes would not dry at all - when hanging them in another place in front of the room, which had direct sun, a person from the staff reproached us and came to move our stuff. We got into a very long discussion. At the end he offered another solution (the sun was mostly gone by then unfortunately). This was appreciated (although it didn't really solve our problem), but the whole thing felt uncomfortable, I didn't feel like a guest, I felt more like a schoolchild being told off by a teacher. I had this feeling the whole time - of being un unwanted guest.

Nice environment. Got great sleep. In the center of town.
The kitchen was not communal and lots of rules.

Lovely hotel in a good location. Room was spacious and comfortable. Wifi could have been a little better in the room, but it was functional. Staff were very friendly and helpful and we were able to make use of their laundry service.

The personnel is great, loved the location, too. The coffee at the hotel was the best I had in Puerto Viejo.
I was assigned the room next to the reception (and I knew in advance I would have that room, it's probably cheaper than the rest), it's cute, but needs to be renovated...

The hotel is pleasant, clean, and tranquil. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The bedrooms are spacious and well organised. The shared bathroom is basic but clean and has all that you need for. I have no complaints other than there was no drinking water available anywhere and you had to pay for bottled water. I think drinking water should be provided free in any hotel. I though it was a little overpriced as it didn't include breakfast, but other than that, a good place to stay.
Include free drinking water in the price of the room.

The hotel is cozy and has a warm feeling to it.
The location is great (right in the center, but two blocks from the busiest streets)
The room was very clean and they cleaned the room and changed the towels everyday, much appreciated!
The wifi is really bad in the room, almost nonexistent. The only way to get good wifi is to be right at the reception.
The room windows are covered with nets, but there are some holes in them which made it easy for insects to get in.

cleanliness 👍
location 👍
friendly host 😊
*Limited access to the kitchen. closes at 8p.m and you have to hand stuff to the host because it’s a private kitchen. would be a great improvement to have a fridge for the guests in the patio.
*in the room by reception you can hear all the noises from outside. but if you’re not staying there during the day it’s not a problem

Nothing I can think of.

Great location right in the center of town but away from the noise. Felt very safe and friendly. The bed was super comfortable and the shower was hot every time. The WiFi was good and there were plenty of communal spaces to relax and meet people. I would definitely stay here again!
We loved everything so this didn't bother us at all but just note that there are no glass windows but windows covered in insect nets and the bathroom of our room was in the open air but very closed in and felt very private.
