Tall Meadow Rue is a delightful hidden gem and a peaceful oasis in the beautiful Mentone community. I needed a relaxing break from reality, and this property was the perfect place to unwind. The home was immaculate, and smelled fresh and clean from the moment we walked in. I’ve never stayed anywhere that provided so many thoughtful comforts as they did. I spent time working on my book in the writing studio, and the sound of the bubbling water in the koi pond brought me so much peace. I’m already planning a return visit.

Wonderful property. Beds comfy and convenient to all of Mentone. We stayed here a few days before Alpine camp dropoff. The boys had a blast making a fire and s’mores in firepit and waking up each morning to feed the fish in the pond. Owners were great communicators and very detailed with check in/out process and all the things we needed to know about the property. Would love to stay again!

We visit the Mentone community often but our first stay at this property. Definitely a new favorite place. We enjoyed the serenity of the property while being just a block from town center. I personally enjoyed setting by the pond fountain watching the fish swimming by and spending a several quite trips to the chapel. Glad to recommend to others.

I'm almost hesitant to share a review of this home because it feels like such a sacred, special place. While the photos are beautiful, they don't do this home justice. Each space in the house and on the grounds is thoughtfully curated. Whether you're religious or not, the property feels like you're on a retreat with meandering gravel paths, statues, native plants and art. We spent time sitting in the tea house and the chapel, listening to the burble of the fountain, the crackle of the fire, and wind in the trees. The church bells across the street chime every hour through the day.
The inside of the home is filled with quiet luxuries too, from the comfortable beds to the reclining living room chairs. We walked quite a bit into town, exploring the little shops and ducking into Mentone Market for food and gifts and Fantastic Food truck for delicious wraps and burgers. DeSoto Falls is a short drive away, as is Brow Park, both of which we enjoyed each day during our stay. We absolutely plan to return to this beautiful, relaxing property. The hosts, as well, were exceptionally communicative and helpful.

We thoroughly enjoyed stay! There were four of us and we had more than enough room and four comfy recliners! The grounds are beautiful. We have already booked a return visit! It was a very lovely place to have our family retreat.

Luxury, solitude, and peaceful adventures- that is what is provided with this property. An intimate yet spacious cottage, exceptionally designed spaces and a magical atmosphere. In town for a class reunion, my friends and I enjoyed our stay at Tall Meadow Rue in Mentone! Such a unique place to stay, house stays cool and comfortable with the amazing canopy of trees. We were close to town and Desoto Falls, across from a church with a beautiful prayer garden and the property itself is a gardener’s delight! We will return!

The house was lovely inside and out. Kitchen is nicely equipped. The beds we’re comfortable. Lot’s of thoughtful detail. Out family had a wonderful visit to Tall Meadow Rue.

We had a lovely stay. We really felt like we had gone somewhere special. Larry has put a lot of thought and energy in making sure that everything is perfect. The town is full of kind people who love the arts. We enjoyed hiking to see waterfalls and just walking the labyrinth at St.Joseph’s. Mentone Market has a good pizza and friendly staff. We hope to come back. Very dreamy.

This home is beautiful and convenient. We were able to sneak away and relax for a few days very easily at Tall Meadow Rue. The property and grounds were lovely and well-manicured. Kudos to the owners for offering up such a very cool place!

All of us loved this property! It has it all. As older guests, we did feel better placement of the handrail would make it easier getting in and out and adding a hand rail on the other side of steps would be helpful.

The house was absolutely perfect for our trip! We are four friends who are retired teachers and love to travel together. The gardens and grounds were awesome (we have two master gardeners) and we each had our own bedroom. We were able to visit several of the waterfalls in the area which were beautiful! The owners were very accommodating when we had a coffee pot issue. We would love to stay there again!

This was our first trip to Mentone. The cottage was absolutely perfect. It is close to town, but situated in a quiet area so traffic is not even noticed. The kitchen had everything we needed, the grounds were stunning, especially the chapel on the property. We will definitely be going back.

We booked this unit for a quick weekend trip. We were pleasantly surprised that the house was much nicer in person than the photos listed. Great location and very quiet. Just what we wanted! The kids loved feeding the fish, the glass house to do art in and the fire pit to roast s’mores ! Overall, we were very happy we booked this location and will be back!

This house was simply Magical. We loved the landscaping, coy pond, fountain, and the overall exterior charm. The beds were comfortable in every room. So easy to walk to town. This house had all the little touches like stained glass and a screen porch that you would sit and listen to the birds or the soothing sounds of the fountain. It felt the like the perfect storybook cottage in the woods. We hope to visit again.

Totally relaxing. A gorgeous property that inspires one to stop and enjoy nature. A wonderful time for games, laughs, and bonding. The rain changed hiking plans but the trip was wonderful. Highly recommend this special place.

This was our second stay at this Mentone property, and it was just as beautiful and peaceful as before. We enjoyed having our coffee on the screened porch in the morning and watching the variety of birds visit all the feeders on property. The koi pond was also relaxing to visit every day to feed the fish. This home interior is just as special with beautiful art, tasteful decor and plenty of room for four adults. We didn't wish for anything except a longer visit.

Restful Sanctuary
One of the best! House was very comfortable and well thought out. Kitchen and living room open onto a great porch. Tv had Hulu, Netflix and You Tube TV. The outside was incredible, total shade, beautiful plants, a babbling pond (they left food for the Koi). My favorite was the little chapel, very peaceful and great place to meditate. Easy walk into town although there's not much to do as I was there during the week. Highly recommend for a quiet sojourn.

A Little Paradise
This was the most delightful property I think we have ever stayed at. The host was very accommodating and everything was perfect, even better than the pictures on VRBO. I would recommend this beautiful place to anyone who wants to experience the tranquility and spirituality of nature. We hope to definitely visit again soon.

Quiet and Peaceful
Great home and the property is beautiful. We truly enjoyed walking through the flower gardens and feeding the fish. The location was very convenient to town and we walked there multiple times. Would definitely recommend.

The Perfect Getaway
From ease of booking to checkout, this VRBO deserves 10 stars! The home is well appointed, comfortable and so cozy! The beds are comfortable, the water is hot and there are cozy seating areas to drink coffee and chat. We spent many hours around the fire pit and were within walking distance of Elevation Bistro and The Wildflower Cafe, two restaurants that are well worth the trip! The grounds of Tall Meadow Rue are immaculate and so inviting with a koi pond, a babbling fountain, bird feeders, fire pit (with wood supplied ) and even a private chapel in which to worship! The house is set back far enough from the main road and enveloped with trees so that the only noise are birds chirping and the occasional sound of a train whistling in the distance. I would highly recommend this home if you need a quiet getaway in which to relax, enjoy nature and recharge. As a side note, Larry could not have been a more gracious owner. He supplied us with hiking ideas, places to eat and things to do! I am already looking forward to booking this home again in the near future!
