The location is perfect. Away from the busy Flam area yet close enough to get there quickly. The view of the fjord from the main room is spectacular. We were going to leave before breakfast to catch the Flamsbana train, so they offered to make a take away box. We were told it wasn't necessary to go as early as we planned and they were correct! They told us to come early to breakfast (15 min) and they would have it all ready instead of the take away box. Worked out well, and had plenty of time to get in line early to make the train. The GastroPub restaurant on property had a variety of dished and they were all great (especially the fish and chips and goat cheese salad)!

Beware the loft with the extra beds has low ceilings, but we were fine with it.

It was the highlight of our 5 day trip to Norway. We absolutely loved it. The view of our cottage was perfect, the breakfast was yummy with a lot of delicious choices, the nature is breath-taking. Special thanks go to the blond lady at the breakfast room who took time to explain us the history of the house and recommend us a waterfall in walking distance. She was so kind. Amazing location and views!

La nostra casetta era direttamente sul fiordo e il terrazzino sospeso sull'acqua era davvero accogliente, abbiamo trascorso un momento di pace rilassandoci con lo sguardo verso il panorama di fronte a noi, il tramonto e il rumore rilassante del mare contro le pareti. Davvero unico.

La camera da letto troppo piccola, era difficile il passaggio verso il letto, a causa anche di un armadio attaccato al letto. Materassi scomodi. Bagno piccolo.

My husband and I were in Norway and Iceland for two weeks and our 2-day stay in Aurland at the Vangsgaarden Gjestgiveri was a special highlight. The cabin we rented (#3) was so comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped for light meal prep and only a couple minutes' walk away from a well-stocked grocery store. The view from our private porch was unbeatable, the beds were comfortable, the unit was spotless, and the breakfast (included w/cabin rental in the summer season) was excellent. Everyone we interacted with was warm and accommodating. For anyone reading this who is doing the Norway in a Nutshell tour sans car, the town was very easy to access from Flam via a shuttle bus operated by Norway's Best, and we were SO glad we weren't staying in Flam. Aurland was a beautiful, quiet little village with plenty to do for a couple days if you like hiking and relaxing. We had dinner at the attached gastropub and it was good, although we opted to prepare an easy meal in our cabin for our 2nd night. I would highly recommend staying here if you have the chance!

Lovely property! We booked one of the waterfront cottages with gorgeous views. Many cozy outdoor spaces to relax around the property. Breakfast was varied and tasty. Really enjoyed our stay here. Just wish it could have been longer!

Beautiful view of waterfalls, fjord from private balcony in cottage, a full breakfast spread was served and cottage is adjacent to a full market for groceries if you want to cook using incottage kitchen with utensils provided.

Better Communication about how to get to the unit from Flam and taxi, shuttle bus service info to get around would have been very useful in planning ahead.

The town of Aurland is charming. The cottage is clean and new and has amazing views! The bar and restaurant on site are very convenient and had a nice casual menu. Breakfast was plentiful and very good. Staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this location!

The cottage is quit snug - no place for luggage other than open on the floor. Having an additional mirror outside the bathroom would be helpful, especially since there is no outlet in the bathroom for using the blow dryer.

The hotel has a very unique and charming style and atmosphere. Great location with a perfect view to the fjord. My room was without a view, but 2 minutes from the main building and you reach the pantone/waterfront to enjoy the beautiful fjord. Bus station and supermarket are less than 5 minutes walking. Cozy seating areas inside and outside the hotel with their own restaurant. The room was small, but clean with comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Heating was working perfectly. Welcoming and accommodating hotel personnel, the lady at the breakfast room was very lovely and helpful. Breakfast was great and sufficient - freshly baked bread, fresh veggies and fruits, cold cuts, salads; omelet and boiled eggs as some hot options; brewed coffee, tea and cocoa, orange juice. Tea and coffee station in the lobby was available throughout a day.

Would be nice to have some extra towels in the room and more bath products (I had only 1 shower gel/shampoo). I guess it can be provided by request, but I never asked as it was enough for 2 days. First floor was a little noisy, but only when other occupants were walking in the corridor. I am not a light sleeper, so it never bothered me.

Hôtel familial dans un établissement traditionnel d'époque, très bien entretenu, avec un personnel très gentil et aux petits soins. La chambre sent bon l'odeur du bois, et la salle de bain, refaite à neuf, est très confortable. Le diner dans le restaurant de l'hôtel, ainsi que le petit déjeuner sont complets et très bons. La vue sur le Fjord d'Aurland est divine, merci ! Je recommande !

Tout : la proximité du fjord, le cadre magnifique ,la décoration de la chambre et de l’espace breakfast en dehors du temps , nous replongeant dans un passé chaleureux et cosy, le petit déjeuner très copieux et l’accueil parfait .. bref endroit idyllique où on aimerait rester plus longtemps

Location

Noisy due to structure of the cabin-you can hear everything. Hot water ran out during shower, had to wipe soap off with cold water. - staff found excuses not to acknowledge the inconvenience and such terrible experience.
