All the staff I met was lovely, friendly, and willing to help. Kudos to Samantha, Cecilia and Carlos.

The staff was very friendly, nice and helpful. The room was clean. Breakfast was good for the price.

Location is perfect, super close to everything you need! The room is good size, clean, very bright with nice street view. Bed was comfy and big. The hotel provides all-day free coffee and tea, staff were super friendly and accommodating

The internet was slow for taking video calls, so if you need to be on a work call, you need to consider this.

Not much. Despite a major dispute, the proprietor never once showed their face or attempted to communicate with me directly. The ONLY saving grace was Samantha, a wonderful Brazilian woman on reception who could not have been kinder, more helpful or sympathetic. I only saw her on my last day of my enforced stay (I paid the full amount before I was taken to my room so had no option but to stay). But as this review is going to be something of a humdinger, I do not wish her to be lumped in with all the negative stuff I experienced, both at the hotel and with Booking.com, who apparently now doesn't give a toss about customers at all, even if they are longstanding and faithful customers. I am Genius Level 3 by the way, and have been all over South America and Asia with Booking.com, but apparently all that counts for nothing. FYI BOOKING.COM - I HAVE VIDEOS TO SUBSTANTIATE EVERY WORD I'VE WRITTEN BELOW. BTW - there was a conference on in Barcelona and I spent seven hours trying to find an affordable hotel for my last night. Booking didn't lift a finger to help with this, and also told me categorically that they would do nothing to help me. Now read on:

Are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin. Do you like it when you request a quiet room (as I ALWAYS do) and you arrive to find that your room is opposite one of the major landmarks in Barcelona (Palau de la Música) which receives back to back troops of group tours, a lot of them screaming children, and next to which there is an opera school with singers practising their scales all day? Not to mention the occasional trumpet? Are you happy when the receptionist tells you that this IS a quiet room while fighting to make himself heard over the noise in the street? Oh really? And how can that be? Well, if you close the two sets of shutters, one set of double windows and then another set of double glazed double windows, the room is quiet. Oh, so that's alright then. Well, no. Hostal del Palau allows for two choices: either you have a quiet, dark, depressing room with windows and shutters closed and no air, or you can throw your windows open and have air and light with deafening noise - and Barcelona was 21C when I was there. Oh, and my room had connecting doors to the next room in one wall. So you can hear everything your neighbours do. You think this is bad? It gets better. I called Booking to ask for help. To add insult to injury, I had not received the email telling me that I couldn't stay an extra night. I was on the phone for nearly two hours. Call # 1 - disconnected. Call # 2 - was told they would call me back once they'd contacted the Hostal. They didn't. Call # 3 - on hold twice for 25 minutes each time. Finally told that the proprietor had fulfilled the protocols for "a quiet room". Booking washed their hands of me. Refused to believe me, refused to help. Spoke to a Booking manager. I wish I had taken his name but I didn't. This manager told me he believed the proprietor and that he would not help me AT ALL. Protocols had been fulfilled. Then he hung up on me. So much for loyalty to Booking.com. Customer service? HAH!

it was clean , in the center ❤️ , with nice view in left side - very nice to see Palau del Musica . Kind owners and good deal for breakfast 🥞.

the bed - is was small even if it was king size 😁 .
