The house was stocked with all amenities including a sharp knife (this is important when cooking), ample pots and pans and cooking utensils, two coffee makes including a k-cup and a 12 cup pot, clean beach towels, beach chairs, a beach cart, even jewelry trays by the bedside. The house is decorated nicely and was clean. It’s important to know you have to cross a two lane road to get to the beach—it’s the only road on the island and not a lot of traffic so an easy cross but important for family with little children. The beach in front of the house is spectacular and almost private because there are only a few houses and no condos —we experienced manatees swimming close enough we could reach out and touch them (they won’t hurt you but don’t touch them). We stayed in July and the back yard was overrun with misquotes and no-see-ums so we did not get to use the backyard oasis. I would have loved to as there was a grill, large table, clean pool and beautiful landscape. We did experience a plumbing back up during our stay which also prevented us from using the outdoor shower, however, management responded promptly and resolved the issue with professionalism — it was the 4th of July weekend and they made the repair happen despite the holiday!

I would 100% recommend the property but I wouldn’t go in July—it was too buggy to enjoy the night.

Great vacation home for a large group. Very nice kitchen. Setting is quiet and private. Location is great as it’s very close to the beach. Pool and hot tub are well maintained. Enjoyed staying here.

accommodations great; pool and pool deck most enjoyed feature - both shade and sun while in the water. Landscapers particularly courteous while doing weekly clean up. great set-up with a fully stocked kitchen. Furniture in good shape and comfortable. Only issues were two maintenance items not resolved while there: master bathroom faucet and master bedroom window shade. Apparently. the owner is questioning the need for the window shade, but it makes sleeping in after sunrise easier.

One even had a plastic wrap around it which made it sleep hot. The house stereo system should be explained as to how to us it. Out side of that it is in great location and very nice. Great location and very roomy for our party of 11. Kids enjoyed the beach and the pool. Only a half mile walk from restaurants and shops on Captiva. It takes about 30 minutes to get back to the mainland in case you plan to drive anywhere else in Florida. Beds were comfortable and there was a ping pong table. Negatives-Property was hard to find because it is nestled back off the road a little and google maps takes you behind the property, not to the driveway. There were a few minor problems like sinks not draining properly, dryer took forever to dry things, vanity outlets not working, and door handles not secure. I wish there was a little more beach items to take with us. We had 6 adults and there was only one beach chair. We had 5 kids and only 3 shovels and no buckets and 3 body boards one of which was broken. When making our reservations, we had a choice to spend a little more money for a fully renovated house a little farther from the beach...in the end we think we made the right choice being closer to the beach with a few minor inconveniences.

The kids were ages 3-8 and had a great time at the beautiful pool and the beach across the street. Lots of shells to bring home.
The layout of the house offered lots of room and privacy. We called management to fix the pool lights and the house music system. The response was quick and we enjoyed the improvements.
Recommendations to make it better:
-Paper products that were supplied were stingy for this high level of property.
-The AC in the two bedrooms on the first floor was not working well.
-The dishwasher is ready for a replacement.

I do have some constructive comments that should easily be rectified with a little attention. The unit needs a new dishwasher. The current one has several broken glass and dish holders. The home iPad that controls the sound system is not on the current version iOS version.That prevented usage of the system, other than for the pool area, somehow. Both of the speakers by the pool need to be replaced. We had an audio/video expert with us and he tried to get it to function and it did not work properly. The maintenance person also tried to no avail.
I would note on the property details that there are beach chairs, umbrella, toys and a wagon to transport belongings to and from the beach. This will help prevent guests from having to buy such items before coming onto the island,
Based on the size of the home and likelihood of 10-12 guests, groceries for a 7-day stay do not easily fit in the refrigerator. Another unit in the huge garage would be ideal. The bar refrigerator in the master bedroom is nice, but way too small to be used as storage for groceries.
There were a lot of small fly-type bugs in the bathrooms that must come from the sinks and showers, as they kept appearing. Upon arrival, the master jacuzzi tub had hundreds of them. Not sure how to handle this, but something should be done.
