The house and furniture are decorated with a stylish interior while retaining a typical Japanese vintage feel. The kitchen is also kept clean and easy to use. This guesthouse was very impressive even Japanese !

I loved that the host was as helpful as she possibly could be.

I was disappointed that the guesthouse was far off from the regular trail of the Shimanani Kaido. The facility had an air of being abandoned and not too well cared for. But it was comfortable enough for one night.

The hosts were friendly and helpful. They were very responsive to messages and questions. The place was a great remodeled traditional Japanese place. I think this place would be great for solo travelers as well as large groups (You probably could reserve the whole house). They recommended an amazing izakaya restaurant that served amazing sushi. We will come back again! Prior to the trip, I was worried that there would be no open restaurants or stores, but there were no issues. We biked the Shimanami Kaido with two young children and the stay at Yuge Island was our favorite overnight! Planning to come back again.

If you come via bike and ferry, check in advance what times permit bikes. We were in Imabari and didn't realize this, but fortunately they made an exception and classified our bikes as "mail" (two times a day, they don't permit bikes so that they can transport mail).

What could be better than staying at a charming traditional old house on a island in the Seto Inland Sea to split the Shimanami Kaido cycling route into two days?! This is the place to do it! Perfect location on Yuge Island. The owner speaks good English and is super friendly and helpful.

Thin walls so if anyone is making any noise you can hear it (earplugs are provided onsite though). The kitchen is equipped with some basic utensils, but there's no kitchen knife, which would have been useful to have.
