Wifi worked really well. Breakfast had a good yet basic selection. Relaxing shower. Location was an easy walk to the old town and historical Dom. Check-in was easy using a code for the front door.

Walls were thin and you could hear conversations from other rooms. It is a 25 minute walk from the train station through winding streets and cobble stones. No designated reception so was difficult to know what to do for check out.

The Hotel-Stuff was very welcoming and easy going. The breakfast-Room was very cosy and well arranged.

I did not have any problems with the hotel. The rooms are a little bit strange arranged, but it is because of the building itself, which is very old.

Nice property, great location and a very clean room. The breakfast in the morning was very nice.

Nice staff, close to downtown, great breakfast buffet, double windows that canceled out the street noise, space to keep our bicycles inside.

Old carpet in the room, shower door was leaking, making the floor around the shower tub wet.

I enjoyed the breakfast and the layout. The building was really well decorated and it felt comfortable. The room size was a little small but for the old time feel of the building made it worth while. Had a old fashion since to it.

Nice and friendly staff, excellent advise on restaurant and fantastic location for visiting the Bamberger Symphoniker and the all the sights in the old town, as well as Altenburg Castle.

Maybe a little bit better information on how check-in works in advance, for international travellers not so familiar with german customs.

Super located, just 5 minutes walking distance from the Old Rathaus. Modern 21 century room, in a 400 years old pension building. Good breakfast.

Both the building itself and the rooms are pretty and nicely restored. The bathroom was clean and comfortable. Good location.

ARRIVAL/RECEPTION The property has not contacted us before our arrival to give us the pin code to the door. When we arrived we realised that there was no reception. We tried to phone the property, but nobody answered at first. The only member of staff that was present didn't speak any English. This wouldn't have been a problem (we try to communicate in German) if she was nice to us. Unfortunately she was rude and seemed annoyed (!! :( ) with our arrival. We indeed arrived at 12.00 (not at 15.00) assuming that this being a hotel (!) we would be able to leave the luggage as is customary in such establishments all over the world. This first impression made us feel not welcome. BREAKFAST The breakfast was quite poor for a hotel (mostly bread, butter, marmelades; no veggies, barely any fruit) and everything was served in tiny little packages which resulted in a huge amount of plastic waste . This could be avoided by serving milk in jars and marmelades in bowls on the table. This way, if you want to eat there, you will have to produce a full bucket of plastic waste. Hope all this is reasonably recycled in the hotel. WIFI - only downstairs, not in the room

It is a period hotel, bijou with tastefully converted rooms and a lovely restaurant. Built on 3 floors the stairs from the reception/ breakfast room lead to a concealed courtyard overlooked by period wooden balconies. Access to the top floor, where our room was, was via a covered external wooden staircase, positively lovely. The hotel has limited car parking but there is plenty of free parking around the corner on the river bank. The hotel is only 10 mins walk from the centre of this beautiful town.
