Bears Den was such a great lodge to stay. It was Ski in and only a short walk up to the lifts. Usually Lesley would offer to drive us up each morning anyway. Having a beautiful cooked breakfast was the best way to start a full day on the mountain. Lesley was so welcoming and helpful. On the day we arrived she took us to a ski hire shop and picked up our gear for us when we were done. She also had an endless recommendation of local restaurants and places to visit. She made us reservations and then drop us to them. Our stay couldn’t of been better and we can’t thank Lesley enough for welcoming us into her comfortable lodge and listening to us talk afternoon while kindly serving us beers from her bar upstairs.
The rooms were perfect, just what you need after a big day riding. Nice comfortable beds and perfectly clean bathrooms with fresh towels.
I will be recommending Bears Den to everyone who is travelling to Goryu and I can’t wait to stay again.

The property is in a great location and easily accessible from Narita airport. Bears Den is extremely cosy and rooms are comfortable with superb facilities.
Lesley is an amazing host who goes out of her way to help her guests with everything from ski hire to pick up and drop off to breakfast to restaurant bookings and everything else in between! By far the best host we’ve come across in all of of our travels! Would 100% stay here again for skiing in Hakuba!

I wish there was a Bear's Den everywhere I traveled! Leslie was an unbelievably lovely host - just felt like we were house guests. Leslie prepared us beautiful homemade breakfasts every morning and went above and beyond to pay special attention to what we did and didn't like. She was a wealth of knowledge on how to get around and the best places to go, and even helped us with transportation as we did not have a car. Our room was quiet, comfortable, and tastefully stocked. We had an absolute blast at Bears Den and cannot wait to return.

The location is excellent and the facilities are beautiful and comfortable. Lesley is a fantastic host! She kindly provided pick up and drop off service to mountains and bus stops. Breakfast was amazing, too!

We stayed for 3 nights. We loved everything about this place - the host Leslia and her daughter R, the ambiance, the amazing breakfast and the mattress we slept on. They have a media room where the children can unwind, and this place is very family friendly!
Very close to Goryu and Leslia would drive us there and we would ski back home. Parking at the resort would have been impossible on the weekend.
The fact we couldn't stay here longer and need to return to Tokyo!

Bear’s Den is much more like a cozy guest house than a hotel. Leslie greets and treats you like a dear friend from the moment you arrive. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean, and the breakfasts are wonderful.

With a wonderful host (thank you Lesley!) and super clean, modern, homey and comfortable lodge, we had a spectacular stay at Bear’s Den.
Once you step into the lodge, we were welcomed by the calming smell of the fireplace and Lesley, your superb host :D
The place was maintained so well, it was spotless clean and very nicely designed.
Our room was very comfortable with all amenities included, we were able to have good rest after our hard skiing days!
The living room area had a beautiful fireplace with very high sealing, where you can sip your red wine to relax and unwind.
The breakfast Lesley make is so tasty and so filling! It definitely got us ready for the big powder days!
Lesley is a wonderful host. She made sure we were comfortable and all our needs were met. She even drove us to the nearby ski resort every morning. You can ski back straight from Goryu ski resort all the way to the door steps! That was really fun too.
I have so much good things to write about, but you’ll just have to see it for yourself ;)
All we could say is, if you’re staying at Hakuba, we definitely recommend you to stay at Bear’s Den.
