Breakfast is good. The staff serving us is polite and attentive, she give us advices on where is worth to visit.

The air conditioner doesn’t work when we get into the room, but was fixed very fast later

The location, the decoration and breakfast

Breakfast was amazing, and the facilities are great. The mattress was perfect and really central. I was there just for 1 night to explore the area.

The only downside is that after 2pm there is noone in the hotel, so if you need anyhtign is almost impossible to get hold of them. I needed the wifi password (they didn't give it on check in) and I called, emailed and nothing. It took them hours to get back to me.

Breakfast was delightful, a lot of options and everything really fresh. The location is great for a walk around the city. The self check-in is extremely easy to deal with.

The information in the detail is a bit confusing, I believe it's something like "check-in after 8 is paid" however, we go there and everything was self-check in. The stairs to the bedroom are interesting, but not super great if you wake up in the middle of the night.

Casa do Juncal is right in the heart of the old town, on the edge of a pretty square. We loved being so close to the main squares and restaurants. In fact you can even walk to the base station of the cable car (up the Penha) in around 10 minutes. The staff were friendly and helpful, offering us early check-in and the option to leave our cases for a couple of hours after check-out. The room itself was modern and spacious with quirky stairs leading up to the bedroom on a mezzanine.

Just a small thing, but the room did not have a mini-fridge. Staying during a heat-wave we would have found this very useful. Not a pre-filled minibar but just a small fridge for our own water bottles and wine would have been great. However, the reason I rated the hotel only 8 is due to a bizarre episode one evening when we came downstairs at 7pm ready to go out for dinner only to find that we were trapped in the hotel. Several other guests wer also trapped. A glass security door inside the front door had been closed and could not be opened from the inside. Being a guest house rather than a full hotel, there are no staff on-site after 2pm so there was no-one to open it for us and we had to wait 30 minutes for somone to come from another location. Aside from the nuisance, this is an obvious safety hazard. What if there were a fire? I hope they have since removed or disabled this door.

Casa do Juncal was one of the highlights of the trip - a beautiful small hotel in the heart of the historic district. The young woman who greeted us couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. She went out of her way to help us find a restaurant for lunch, and she also prepared an excellent breakfast the next morning. We felt like we were staying in our own wonderful house in Guimaraes

Absolutely perfect! The hotel has just 6 rooms and they take care of everything so carefully! Everything is so clean! The room has a smell that invites you to sleep. The breakfast is prepared there and you choose what you want the night before, so they can prepare in the morning for you. Everything is super fresh! And also the location. In the middle of the medieval city, with lots of restaurants within walking distance. Amazing! Much more you can expect from a 3 star hotel.

This property is beautiful, in an amazing location, and very comfortable. The staff was amazing, the breakfast fantastic. loved everything about this stay!

The room door lock was erratic, at times impossible to use.

A modernized old property that has maintained the charming old wood details but smartly integrated the creature comforts of the modern world. The staff is a hardworking team dedicated to the happiness of the guests. Excellent location in the historic area and an easy walk to everything.

Too much noise in the street, early in the morning. Casa do Juncal is not to blame for this, but the sound insulation of the building/room is not ideal.
