The accommodation was excellent……spacious, quiet & set in a beautiful river valley on a farm. The scenery from the cottage was unreal & is in the hinterland of Motueka, perhaps 30 mins away from the coast! It is easy enough to find with Nav! Peter was helpful about the area & told us about the short walk to the old swing bridge! We were in area of many acres of orchards. Walking trails are nearby…….explored one of the gorges which really needed 4WD!

The fire was going when we arrived so it was super cosy. Well equipped kitchen- there’s no restaurants nearby (maybe 30mins away) so definitely bring food to cook. Electric blanket! Comfortable.

Solitude, peace and quiet, the wood stove made for a cosy evening, scenery. The walk over the swing bridge opposite was a little different. A very pleasant stay in a peaceful environment.

It was a touch of luxury after some places we had been. Beautiful view of the country around and so quiet and relaxing. We wish we could have stayed longer.

the house is simple but clean and comfortable.
wish the curtains could be fully close so the room will be darker for the kids. all the curtains seems smaller then the frame. but it didn’t bother me much.

It was an excellent experience to stay here overnight. I’m impressed by considerate care everywhere for customers, such as blankets on two sofas, screens for each window and each door, board game boxes, plenty of kitchen utensils, a big fridge, a deck with a outdoor table and chairs where you can enjoy breakfast and see the mountain, and stunning lighting in all of the rooms.

This cottage is good value for money. At 150 per night, you get lovely rural surroundings, comfortable sofas and beds, and a very nicely set up kitchen.
My only gripe is the bathroom. The hot water sink tap hardly ran at all and the shower pressure was poor. Mind you, this has been common in pricier motels than this cottage. If this was fixed up, then River Cottage would be a 10.

Location met my road trip requirements
Fire wood could not last the night so we ended up in bed early for the heater, I suspect we could get better value accommodation for a lower price. We drove off the next day and saw a few options in the vicinity.
No Wifi, last min hiccups and we had to pay cash to the host instead of the auto deduction via card.
