We loved staying on Fiona & Andrew's farm, they were wonderful hosts. The cottage was clean and modern with enough room for 6 guests. We were welcomed with some homemade goodies and Fiona checked in with us a couple of times to make sure we were doing ok and to see if we needed anything. We were also greeted by their very cute black & white cat who was very friendly. Would love to come back again and really get to enjoy the countryside there. It was a welcome relief to get back to the cottage each night and enjoy the peaceful time there. We ate at a couple of the nearby pubs that Fiona recommended and they were all very good. Highly recommend Far Wicken Hall Farm.

Our family of 5 stayed for 3 nights in June 2023.
The accommodation is absolutely beautiful! Clean, well appointed, very spacious, beautifully presented with stunning views over the countryside.
Added touches were a kitchen table with a pot of tea, fresh baked treats, homemade jam, milk, bread, orange juice and fresh eggs upon arrival. Each bedside had bottled water, tissues, hand sanitiser and chocolates. The master also had two small bottles of wine and Lindt chocolate and guest slippers.
The bathrooms had luxurious handwash and body wash.
Quality appliances, towels and linen.
Fully equipped and spacious kitchen diner.
Hosts were absolutely fantastic. Couldnt be more helpful or hospitable. Fiona took our children to meet the animals one afternoon and we all fell in love with the beautiful dog, Bramble.
Close to Saddleworth villages with beautiful canal walks, shops, restaurants and pubs. From here, 20 mins by train to Manchester.
Far Wicken Hall is a slice of heaven and our favourite accommodation and location out of the 6 places we stayed in the UK.
Thank you Andrew and Fiona for hosting us. We hope to return one day 🙏

This was such a fabulous place to stay. There was plenty of space for our family of 6. We felt like this was a perfect getaway that felt like home. Fiona was so helpful whenever I needed anything, she even had a treat for us upon arrival which was amazing after traveling all day. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks Fiona!

Roosters crow, curtains are drawn, down the pine stairs into the bright kitchen for lashings of raspberry jam on dense savory scones, piles of sizzling bacon, and fluffy scrambled eggs with veg. Gulp the last drop of tea down and run outside. Smells like chamomile flowers and sweet damp hay in the morning breeze. Sun is up over the mountain and warms our pink cheeks as we run to see where the resident dog, Bramble, has got to, and where the cows are today. Fiona has been tending the chickens and generously shares 6 large fresh eggs she's just collected.
Down the dirt road with the stinging nettle growing between tire ruts and past the neatly rolled and stacked hay bales, we see grey sheep freshly shorn and brown sugar cows expertly chomping grass and flicking flies with their twitching hides. Pick up speed down the hillside, strides turning to controlled gallops as we head toward the big pond.
We skim stones and throw in dirt clods and dead sticks, broken bricks left long ago, and whatever we find for the satisfying “ SPLOOSH!” in the murky depths. We hang from trees leaning over the creek and test an old wooden bridge, grown over with ivy and grasses, for safe passage across. Now balance on rocks and build a small dam, quickly overtaken by the relentless force of a stream searching for level land.
Lunchtime with slices of strong English cheddar and crisp pink lady apples, Thai chili crisps, and hazelnut chocolate bars. Find a spot alone in the house to read until the light pales and our eyes begin to squint - so back outside again to see how the sun has moved and where the pony, formerly in the west pasture, might be now.
Wave hello to Andrew, who's working on the tractor, watch the sun dip behind the dark green mountain and swat a horsefly from our arm. Call “goodnight sheepies!” to the lambs on the hill and inside for Yorkshire roast chicken and root veg soup, with large soft white baps from the neighborhood market.
Warm showers and fresh clothes and a family chat on the master bed to compare notes, wonder aloud, tease, cuddle, and be. Paradise on Far Wicken Hall Farm!

Wonderful house for holidays in the Rochdale area. Spotlessly clean with a warm welcome and fabulous tea waiting for us on arrival, even though we were late arriving. Quite remote but as long as you have a car it is easy to get into Manchester and to surrounding towns.

5 stars doesn't do this beautiful cottage justice. The hosts are such welcoming and friendly people and showed us around the farm. Our girls were able to feed the chickens and collect their eggs.
When you arrive, Fiona puts out a welcoming spread of food which is out of this world, and the majority of it is home made.
The local pubs do amazing food too.
Anyone looking for a peaceful getaway on a working farm - this is the place.
The cottage was very clean, spacious and cosy. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Fiona was so welcoming and helpful, providing us with a delicious afternoon tea (even very happily catering for my gluten allergy) The cottage is immaculate and very spacious, with all the amenities you could want, including a very comfortable bath to soak in after a lovely walk.
Fiona was really kind and showed my two little ones (3 and 18months) all of the animals and even let Hamish collect the eggs, which he was thrilled about!
We couldn’t recommend it enough and will be looking for opportunities to return.
Thank you so much Fiona and Andrew.

Before we even arrived at Far Wicken Hall, Fiona had contacted us by phone to ensure that we had the correct directions in order to get to our holiday location. We were a group of 6 (4 adults and 2 teenage girls) travelling for our summer getaway. Upon arrival, Fiona greeted us at the cottage and gave us a tour. Not only did the bathrooms have toilet roll and shower gel but each bedroom had bottled water, slippers, chocolates and sweets, hand sanitiser and tissues. The kitchen contained all of the necessities such as dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, washing up sponges, tea bags, coffee, juice, and milk but the ‘icing on the cake’ was the phenomenal homemade afternoon tea which included sandwiches, cakes, flapjacks and more! The spread was extremely generous and exceptionally delicious! The cottage had everything we needed and was so spacious and clean.
There was so much room and the girls particularly loved having their own floor of the cottage to themselves! Having an en-suite bathroom for each bedroom was amazing and we even had an additional toilet downstairs! Fiona was more than happy to entertain the girls when they requested to feed the farm animals in the evening and gave them talks about how to best care for the animals. This was the highlight of the day as the girls thoroughly enjoyed the interaction with the animals! Any questions about the local area that we had or the property were answered promptly and in detail, which was really appreciated.
As two separate families we travel together on a frequent basis in the UK and abroad, when we are able to. We all agreed, hands down, that this is the best property that we have stayed in and we would more than happily book again to experience the 5 star property and outstanding hospitality again. We would not hesitate at all, to recommend this to individuals who would like to stay here in the future. We would love to visit again! Thank you so, so much! Memories to last a lifetime have been made!

This is a wonderful place to stay. The cottage exceeded all of our expectations and the hosts, Fiona and Andrew, are truly lovely people who do their best to make everything easy and special. This is a working farm as well and so this adds interest to every day. There is wonderful hiking country right on the doorstep and we just walked out the door and went walking most days. Handy pubs too.
In summary, a luxurious cottage hosted by wonderful people in a gorgeous part of the country
Thank you Fiona and Andrew.

The Far Wicken Hall accommodation rightly deserved its 5 star status, the property was comfortable and well maintained and made for a good home from home. The location was very peaceful despite being a working farm, and the hosts Fiona and Andrew went out of their way to make us welcome with a lovely homemade tea and special treats, catering also for our vegan daughter. We even had a tour of the farm as my daughter is training to be a vet. Super place to stay. Recommended

Unbeatable cottage, location and hosts!
We recently stayed for a second time at Wicken Hall Farm while quarantining after entering the UK to visit family. Farmers Fiona and Andrew (who reside in the cottage next door) are marvelous hosts with wonderful hospitality and on both occasions have welcomed us with many food items on arrival, including farm fresh eggs, until we could get a grocery delivery. The cottage has 3 spacious bedrooms, all very cozily furnished and super clean. The large kitchen is well stocked with everything you might need, the beds are comfortable, and the location is ideal for a quiet getaway, but close enough to towns for shopping, restaurants, etc. There are many beautiful walks around the area, offering amazing scenery. We will definitely stay with Fiona and Andrew again - they are family:)

Lovely Farmhouse setting
We really enjoyed our stay with you. The afternoon tea on arrival was a real treat and leaving our boys a pumpkin to carve was such a lovely extra. The property was very clean & warm. Plenty of nice walks near by including the reservoirs and Hollingsworth lake. Thank you again

Never been happier giving 5 stars
We stay in many places around the world and the experience we had at Fionas cottage was one of the best. We were traveling from the US and checked in late and greeted with a wonderful spread of food to save us shopping. We hiked a different 2 hour from the cottage each day and didn't need to get in our car for 2 weeks! Wonderful views from the farm. Andrew and Fiona were attentive and helpful with everything including offering to get us shopping. Spotless clean and spacious cottage with great kitchen. We were so happy we have booked for another 2 weeks in January! Enjoy this great place and people:)

Gorgeous cottage in stunning rural location
This beautiful cottage is on a small working farm in a lovely rural location. It is really large - loads of room for our family of 5. It is decorated to a very high standard with so many lovely homely touches. We arrived to a fantastic home made high tea, with the fire already roaring in the grate.
The owners couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. They spent lots of time showing the children round the farm and answering their many questions. That plus the standard of the property makes this place really exceptional! Would definitely recommend it.

Everything was perfect and as described.
Fiona welcomed us with a very nice afternoon tea and many other things.
We all liked the house, the quietness. The kids liked strolling around, visiting the barn. Highly recommended.

Warm and spacious
Our family of 6 from Australia recently stayed at Far Wicken Hall for 16 nights. Our main reason for our visit to England was to visit relatives in Manchester. We loved our stay on the farm. The accommodation was spacious, with a single bed for each of our children and a bathroom for each bedroom. It was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The timed central heating was beautiful. It was lovely to return home for a cuppa in our toasty warm kitchen after a day out. My boys are still talking about the beautiful home made spread of cakes, sandwiches and slices that Fiona had laid out on our kitchen table for us, upon arrival, but their favorite by far was the apple pie. Our welcome pack was also full of useful items. We had an amazing stay in England and highly recommend this accommodation.

August Long Weekend Stay
The property was very Spacious, big 3 double bedrooms, very clean, the location was beautiful.
Fiona (the owner) provided us all the basic items when we checked in (milk, juice, bread, jam, sandwiches, eggs etc). The vibration and the environment of the property was excellent.
Definitely would like to visit and stay this property again.

Stay at Far Wicken Hall Farm
The farm is as advertised and located in the lovely setting of the moors. Fiona is an excellent host and really welcoming. The house is comfortable and very clean. It's a bit difficult to find your first time but after that is easy to navigate. Thanks Fiona for a great stay!

Very comfortable and tastefully decorated property. Very friendly and welcoming host. Recommended.
We were made to feel very welcome by our host Fiona who laid on a tea of sandwiches and cakes when we arrived as well as providing some essentials so we didn't need to shop straight away. The accommodation is lovely, well equipped with everything we needed. Just a stones throw from the M62 so getting there was easy and tucked away in a valley in the Pennine Hills, it is very quiet and relaxing. There are several local reservoirs which make a nice walk and the village of Denshaw is charming. There is also a great local pub. Hollingworth Lake is also worth a visit and provides water based activities such as sailing and windsurfing. The owners live next door and were keen to make sure we enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed. Highly recommended.
