Stunning location with a lot of places to see within 40 km radius, definitely for people who love countryside and nature, but also like to visit historical towns of Tuscany. Pool was just perfect, we really enjoyed our time there.

Kitchen in the apartment could have better stove, took really long to boil the water, and the shower cubicle is really small. The church bell is very close, we got used to it in the end, but in the beginning it woke us at night.

A beautiful and peaceful place. Spacious and clean apartments. Pet friendly. Large swimming pool with umbrellas and sunbeds. The host Monika will kindly answer all your questions. There is a small restaurant in the village with delicious food. The nearest store is in Pomarance. We spent six unforgettable days here and highly recommend it.

Lovely remote location, you need a car but beautiful

Overall it was good value for money.

Hostess (Monica) was very friendly and helpful, making it a holiday from day 1. View on the Tuscan hills is perfect. Pool is excellent: very large, nicely situated with a view, between olive trees, good for both young children as adults and with sufficient room to relax on sunbeds (incl. shade). Quiet neighbourhood. Please note - as others have already said - that most touristic places (e.g. beaches, Sienna, San Gimignano, Firenze, etc.) are a 1 hour drive or longer, except Volterra.

There are a few clear improvement points to get a 10: - Missing airconditioning. The appartment - even with closed windows & blinds during the day - was far too hot for especially our children to sleep. The fan helped just a little. Disclaimer: temperatures hit 40 degrees when we stayed, but still. - Mattress of the bed. Matress was awful, worn out which caused back pain.

We really enjoyed our stay at Il Monastero! It is located in a small village not far from Volterra and we came by car. We were very lucky, we booked the smallest apartment (Lavande) next to the street and were upgraded to the bigger one with two floors closer to the garden (Olivo), as it was free, which was great, thank you very much! Everything was in the apartment that we needed and everybody was so friendly. It was quite hot weather, but the apartment was nicely cool, so we didnt even need the ventilator which was offered for us. We were almost the only ones in the residence, thus it was very quiet at the pool and no one was sitting at the terrace next to us (which belongs to the apartment next door). This made our stay very relaxing and it is very beautiful inbetween the olive trees, with the big pool and garden. In the village, there is a small restaurant, which we liked a lot. We would definitely come here again, especially in one of the apartments with own terrace and garden (like Girasole) next to the pool.

Only a very small thing: The bathroom was the only room without mosquito net, it would be great to add one also here :)

Nice and friendly host. The price was not high.

The room we've got was just in front of the street. It was very hot this time so we had to open windows and we had noise from the street (thanks God cars were passing quite rarely). The view was also disappointing - just street and a building on the other side. We had also some strange smell in the room. If you'll get a room with the pool and garden view it may be worth to consider.

Very interesting location within small town (ca. 180 inhabitants). Extremely close to the small old town. Large, complex building with ambulatories. Each apartment has its own huge covered terrace. The open pool accesible for the guests. There's a ristorante near city entrance from the east. Recommend! Delicious food, amiable owners, perfect!
