The location is excellent, right in the center and in a great area of the city. Also, the staff was extremely kind and helpful, from the front desk staff to the cleaning lady and the waiters of the restaurant.

Unfortunately, the location and the kind staff were the only good things about this hotel. The reception of the hotel must have been restored and embellished, because the impression you get when you walk in the hotel is followed by a huge disappointment when you get to your room. Everything from the pungent unbreathable stale air, to the extremely old and disintegrating (literally falling apart) furniture, to the (at best) questionable beds and linens, to the dreadful bathroom was awful. To top it all off, there was also a roach in the bathroom and one on the window, so all hopes of a good night's sleep were gone. I am truly sorry to say it, because again, the staff was very kind, but the room had absolutely no pros whatsoever.

The only thing good things about this hotel were the location, the free parking and the receptionist staff.

I felt drawn back 30-40 years ago... Everything in the room looked old, from the broken furniture, the bathroom pipes to the bathtub which looked like a horror movie (yellow and scratched, unsanitary) - in both rooms we booked. TV cable was not working, the connection jack was so broken we could not watch anything that night. The breakfast was sufficient, but was not clear what were we allowed to buy according to the money, as there was no menu to chose from. The waiter was unprepared to have a customer dialogue, the answers were so extremely vague that we ended up accepting whatever just to start eating... Beds were uncomfortable, did not have an extra sheet for the extra duvet, very soft pillows. In one of the rooms the window did not open and the smell was stale. No telephone in the room to call reception.

It's a maximum 15 minutes walk from 90% of all the major attractions in Targoviste. Very friendly personnel and good service all around. Plus I really enjoyed the breakfast. Nothing fancy but very well made and served.

Some of the furniture has seen better days and should be repaired or better yet replaced. Bathroom door needs fixing. So does the shower hose and the bathtub but you can manage. The elevator makes some intimidating sounds but I guess it adds to the charm of the trip. ;-)
