Location is good, 5 minute walk from center

Very thin walls, you can clearly hear your neighbours talk, snore and use the bathroom. You can even see if they have lights on right through the wall.

The location is close to the center and taxi/bus stops

You need to climb a steep road when arriving from the center. We had to wait ten minutes before somebody came to check us in. We booked a luxury room with balcony and AC, but initially received a room with only a window. After complaining, we received a room with supposively a balcony, which was nothing more than an outdoor public hallway with one chair (we were traveling with two). We had to wait for about an hour before we received the key of the room however, because it was apparently taken by a previous guest. The room itself did not have functioning airconditioning, had a nasty smell coming from the shower, had bad linnen with several holes, a terrible mattress where you could feel the springs. Further the room was extremely noisy with people talking outside till 03:00 AM, upper neighbors footsteps clearly hearable, same as their drainage which was hearable. On top of that, we felt that the owner did not take our complaints very serious, nor showed anyf friendly behavior.

A central location within walking distance to the bus terminal and the market. All tour operators offer pick-up at the property. A very helpful landlord and staff.

Cleanliness of the kitchen and the refrigerator that can be used could be improved.

We had a very comfy stay @ Matteu's house. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Very close to the heart of St. Ignacious. I would recommend this accommodation if you are in the area

Good value option in San Ignacio Clean place Close to downtown (indication of location in booking is wrong - it's actually 200 m further DOWN the road)

noise during the night: barking dogs nearby, crowing rooster. No earplugs -> no sleep :-( Shaking mattresses, if one person moves the other one wakes up

Matus was kind, generous and a wonderful host. The shower was great, the room was clean, the beds were comfy and we had free use of kitchen and a place to refill our water bottles. Matus also gave us great travel tips and we rented a car from him. Car was in great condition and he helped us plan our drive. Highly recommended and decently priced.

nothing! everything was perfect

200m uphill from the town center, could be a bit exhausting if carrying baggage on a hot day. Very basic rooms, in our room we had 2 beds, 1 chair, no more furniture for putting the clothes. WiFi OK. Shared kitchen with fridge available. Relatively unexpensive. Nice view from the hill. Next to the street, but no noisy traffic in the night.

No A/C! In August in Belize it is really useful.

it was close to the centre of San Ignacio and a good price. The staff were fantastic. they helped organise tours and taxis.

you pay for what you get- the room needed a bit of work for example the bathroom door was a bit rickety

lots of insects in our room including cockroaches. hot in room, fan not adequate to cool down.

I didn't realize at the time I booked that it was up a steep hill. It's a matter of personal preference, but if you're out of shape or have bad knees, take that into consideration. I was used to it after a week!

Comfortable, good choice in San Ignacio

Loved my time at Matus Guesthouse, it's a great place to stay in San Ignacio! The property is peaceful, quiet and only a few minute's walk to reach the town centre. My room was super comfortable and was equipped with everything I needed - a very comfortable bed, a decent warm shower and good AC (blankets are also provided in case you get cold). There's a kitchen area for guests to use, with a fridge-freezer and cooking facilities - very handy! An extra bonus is they have a few cars to rent too which are suitable for the unpaved roads in the district and the vehicles are meticulously checked & serviced between trips. Marconi, Connie and Rosa were so very kind and helpful to me during my stay; they really made me feel at home. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Matus Guesthouse again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable, comfortable, safe and very friendly accomodation in San Ignacio. Thank you, I miss you guys and I hope to be back again soon!
