Armando was truly the most incredible person we encountered during our three week stay in CR. We stayed at six different places during our stay and spent the least amount of time at Pacuare Mountain Lodge but because of him, we nearly cried when we had to leave. We were truly impressed by his heart, his kindness, his customer service, his general desire to talk with us and help us. What an amazing human being and employee!!! In addition, our communication with Marjorie who helped with our booking, check in and river rafting reservation was phenomenal. She was excellent via telephone although we did not get to meet her in person.

The windows in the cabin could use screens to help keep the bugs out. We didn't like that we had to close the windows and doors at night to keep bugs out because there were not screens on any of them. Also, the mattress wasn't very comfortable. It was pretty thin and we could feel the springs.

Dinner and breakfast were great, but few choices in what we could order.

Almost no signage on the long rutted road to the lodge. We had to rely entirely on GPS to find it.

We liked the private outside jacuzzi bathtub very much. The well maintained garden with it's countless flowers and bushes is a huge joy. Breakfast was ok, local style. You are really out in the nature here!

The lodge is difficult to reach if you don't have a four wheel drive. Maybe it would have helped if the personnel spoke (better) English, like that, we felt a bit lost, as our poor Spanish was of no help either. Finding the place was difficult, as Booking.com shows a wrong location. Look for Montañas del Pacuare on Google maps to find your lodge, or ask the management beforehand to send you the correct location.

The lodge is in an absolutely incredible location, you're on top of a hill surrounded on all sides by mountains and forest, it truly is spectacular. The grounds are beautifully kept, and the cabins are comfortable and clean. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and made our stay really special. We loved our nights here and wouldn't hesitate to come back.

The location is not as it appears on booking.com, instead search for 'Montañas del Pacuare' on Google. The road to get there is a little tricky, but just about manageable without an SUV/4WD in dry conditions.
