2 single beds pushed together. Quilt did not fit bed fully. Nobody on hand to ask regarding free wifi so unable to connect. Also on arrival my driving license was captured on a personal phone and my card details were written down as they have implemented a new policy of £80 deposit "just in case" although they said they would not tale anything without me knowing. Nothing of this was mentioned when booking. Would help to have a welcome booklet or folder with information.

Everything experience and the staff were absolutely terrible I turned up with no ID but paid for the room and still no entry so I offered to pay a £90 deposit upfront!!!!!!! So I get the £90 deposit and the staff are absolutely disgraceful manager of the house should not be working leisure industry and they want money back booking hotels!!!!!!!!!!!!

The bed was clean and comfortable.

Decor is very poor. Most TV channels don't work. Very very dark room, and this was a bright day. For the same price as this (GBP 100) there are many more attractive hotels in Colchester with more value for money.

Booked online into the Globe hotel. Transfered into a hotel next door( the star) for no apparent reason. The room was clean and recently renovated. However on opening the window we were alarmed to find it opened into the outside corridor therefore unable to leave the window open at night. There was also a velux type remotely operated window in the ceiling that didnt work.....very poor nights sleep followed by a terrible cooked breakfast.

The bedroom was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Although the hotel is on a main road,we slept very well.

The bathroom is minute! It looks as if it has been taken out of a caravan and boxed into the corner.The chair had a wobbly leg which nearly caused an accident. When we arrived the man who checked us in told us they weren't doing breakfast.However,when we checked out,people were clearly eating breakfast... The beeping alarm in the lobby was quite annoying,and reading reviews,appears to have been beeping for months!

Someone had used the toilet before I entered the room and it hadn't been flushed

Nothing!! It was a disgrace!!

EVERYTHING!!! The room was a disgrace Hallway was lit by a small lamp not proper light, when entering the room found that all the plaster was coming off the wall around the door, the curtain rail was hanging off, the bathroom was like a Porter loo, the wardrobe and the chair had stains on them, as did the shower curtain so we couldn’t have a shower! When the light was turned on in the bathroom it made a horrific noise the paint work was all peeling off there were electric boxes hanging off the walls in the corridor and no fire evacuation details anywhere in the room and to top it all off the door didn’t work so we got stuck in the hotel on the way out and there was no one on reception to deal with it! Oh and they were rude when we arrived! I am not at all happy with this situation in fact I am complaining to them and also want to log a complaint with you. I expect a much higher standard from one of your rooms! Not enough room for all the pics below

The size was good and was happy to receive two towels at least.

Window didn't shut properly so was a little cold after showers and through the night. I also found the bed to be uncomfortable, you could feel all the springs. There's a strong smell whilst walking up the stairs to our room, possibly from the restraunt adjoining the hotel. The toilet/shower room was something you'd see at a carvan and was also giving a unpleasant smell, perhaps of sweage.
