Super nice family with a nice location right on the beach. Restaurants are within walking distance and the homestay serves a nice breakfast.

A very nice basic homestay. The family was extremely welcoming and helping us with different matters. the room was basic but cute, clean and had a neighbouring bathroom (outside the room but private to us). best is the direct view on the sea from the room. thank you!

… we absolutely loved it! the family who runs the place is the sweetest, they were incredible kind and sweet to my son. you sleep to the sound of the sound of the ocean in a cozy and clean room, have breakfast in the wonderful garden overlooking the sea and watching surfers. all of this felt amazing! first thing in the morning we loved to take a little walk at the private beach or watching the sunset at nighttime - it’s a gem! the breakfast was so yummy and everyday a little bit different, served with a big smile by the family members and with lots of fresh fruit from their little shop. all cool places of Ahangama are in a short walking distance, you can walk at the beach :) we really loved it! thank you so much & all the best :))

This is a fantastic homestay right on the beach in Ahangama, complete with a sun bed and loungers in the backyard, facing the sea. Breakfast is served seaside and is absolutely delicious and the room with the attached balcony has a fantastic view!

The family mixed up several reservations, so we had to be quite flexible. They did their best to accommodate us when our reservation wasn't prepared, but I would recommend triple confirming your booking before you arrive!

The best room during my 4 weeks in Sri Lanka. Cozy, beautiful decor, clean. The view to the ocean is amazing! I could watch the waves from my bed. Friendly family. Good breakfast.

WiFi not very reliable

The location of this property is just perfect…to wake up to the sea views with an amazing breeze flowing through. It was definitely the best room with a view we had during our month in Sri Lanka. The family are super helpful and friendly and make you feel very welcome.

This homestay was lovely. The entire family was so excited to have me there as their first American. The breakfast was very nice with egg hoppers one day and Dahl and omelet, toast and a huge bowl of fresh fruit and tea, and eating outside on the beach watching the ocean was amazing

The family running it is very nice and helpful. The room is really clean, with tasteful decoration and with an amazing view! I really enjoyed having their super good breakfast at the beach and chilling in the sunbeds. I recommend!

Great Host-family at the Mermaid Beach House. Got welcomend with a fresh coconut and a lot of talks in the afternoon and evening. The five grown up children are very lively and there is always just a good and funny atmosphere in the house. Had a lot of fun with them. We came in the offseason, so a lot of restaurants in Ahangama were closed, but we got delicious rice & curry for dinner at the house.

Everything. As per the Booking.com photos of the hotel is not true. Building is abandoned looking from outside and it’s nothing look like the pictures.

This is such a nice place to stay. The family of the guesthouse is so welcoming and nice, the rooms are beautiful and comfortable and the view to the ocean and the palm trees is amazing. The daily breakfast is also very tasty. Highly recommend this place!

I stayed at Mermaid for just one night but had such a lovely stay. I arrived very early and straight away I was made a delicious breakfast; served in their private little garden which backs onto the beach. The family continued to look after me attentively throughout my whole stay, quickly responding to my every need. In the evening they prepared a delicious Sri Lankan meal for me and another girl who was staying in the homestay. Such a generous and warming family and I am grateful for their hospitality. Thanks again for the stay

it was already my second time at mermaid and for sure not the last time! the family surprised us every morning with another yummy breakfast (they even did their best to cook something vegan for me). I enjoyed every minute at this beautiful place and already look forward to my next stay at mermaid! :)

located directly at the beach, you can watch the turtels and the surfers while enjoying a really nice and complete breakfast directly at the beach. the room is very cozy and you see and hear the ocean from the room. the family is so warm hearting and they do everything to make you feel comfortable. this is really the bestever homestay, thank you for everything!

My stay at Mermaid Beach was something to remember, Guwan and his family really create an amazing experience here. Great value located in Ahangama with close access to everything in the area. The view from the room and the breakfast table is the cherry on top. Recommend 10x over.
