One of the most beautiful places we have ever visited.
Great location and to watch the peacocks roaming around was just amazing!
Very comfortable, clean, and beautiful grounds to walk around.
Will definitely be back

What a gem! We loved our stay, the peace, the birds, the surroundings and everything else. Thanks a lot!

The accomodation was light and spacious and it was clear that a great deal of thought had been put into the decor and furnishings.
We appreciated the welcome basket and the other little extras that were provided like dish soap, dishwasher tablets and bathroom toiletries.
The bed was comfortable and the shower very good with lovely big bath towels.
Communication with hosts and information prior to our stay was excellent.
A quiet location in lovely countryside but the guinea fowl and peacocks meant it wasn't quite 100% peaceful.

A beautiful property with lovely peaceful surroundings. An ideal place to celebrate our 60th anniversary with family renting the other cottages. Connecting door with family in the Hayloft was useful. A big thank you to the owners and to Idyllic Cottages.

What a dream come true, we stayed in Suffolk in the summer and as we are big Lovejoy fans we did a walk down to Belchamp Walter and passed Belchamp Hall.
We knew the stables(Lovejoys old workshop) was available as holiday accommodation, so decided to come for a week at New Year.
From start to finish we couldn’t have wished for a better stay, we have high expectations of the self catering accommodation we stay at, they have to be spotlessly clean, they have to be in good condition and most importantly everything has to work, this accommodation delivered on all fronts, it took a little while for us to find our feet with the heating and the Wi-Fi struggled a little from the far extremities of the property, but this was never a problem as it worked perfectly in the main part of the stables and the bedroom.
Constant hot water, showers that worked brilliantly, great cooking facilities, Blu-ray player so you can watch dvd’s, you can connect to the smart tv if you have Netflix etc.
Everything had been thought about and considered.
To top it off what made it even more special were the owners Charlie and Alice Raymond.
Attentive, caring and couldn’t do enough to ensure stay was perfect, truly wonderful down to earth people.
Charlie also showed us a courtesy that we will never forget, this made our stay even more special, way way above what we could of ever have expected.
The other thing worth noting is that they have 4 properties for rent, one is a short distance from the entrance to the hall, but at the stables you have 3 properties that connect, the stables (for 2 people), the Hayloft (for 2 people) and the coach house (for 3 people)
If you took all 3 for a family holiday you would have a truly fantastic time
I cannot recommend Belchamp Hall Accommodation enough, Truly Superb
Thank you

Such a beautiful, spotless clean, and comfortable cottage. The owners have thought of absolutely everything, amazing fixtures and fittings! The welcome basket was delightful, as was the dog bed, towel, bowl and treat! Perfect situation for a quiet country break!
Couldn’t recommend more highly!!!

We (a couple in our sixties) stayed here for a week in May 2023. We have stayed in many self-catering properties. This one [along with the Hayloft above it] rates as one of the very best. The sense of drama in the accommodation is up lifting. The place is big enough to have been made two bedroom, but there were no compromises made during the conversion and consequently one feels splendidly grand there. The bath has possibly the best bathroom window ever in May when the wisteria embraces the circular window. Furniture and fittings good quality and suit the building. Peacocks strutted about doing their thing in the garden, their shrieks being something we took pleasure in shouting at them about. Ver poor giffgaff phone signal [there is Wifi available]. Very easy parking. Hosts very hospitable.

The Stables have been wonderfully converted into stylish, very spacious and comfortable accommodation. There was a welcome basket for us, and a bed, water bowl and Bonio treat provided for our dog too!
A very special and peaceful location, and we enjoyed watching the Guinea fowl family, and the peacocks, in the grounds around the property. Easy access to lovely walks was a bonus, as was the use of the tennis court.

A great location, ideally situated for walking and taking in the fresh air in peace and quiet. Beautifully presented and only a short drive to many local attractions. The wife is a huge Lovejoy fan, which made the stables even more interesting, a great few days away from the stresses of life!

The Stables was spacious, full of character, comfortable with modern appliances and facilities. We loved the large outside terrace which leads into the secluded wall garden and gives access to the extensive grounds. The owners were friendly and responsive and had included a number of nice touches eg thoughtful welcome pack, teas, coffees, bathroom toiletries, dog bed and towel etc and they got the small things right eg clean oven, sufficient toilet rolls, oceans of hot water etc
We would definitely recommend it and have booked already to come back.

Excellent up front communication and information. Superb accommodation very high standards. The welcome basket was a very nice touch. Location is beautiful. We enquired about a DVD player before arriving, reply came immediately but was that one wasn’t available, when we arrived Charlie the owner popped by to say “we got you a DVD player it’s the box under the TV but sorry only one plug so we have also put an extension cable in there for you” now that’s service. A stay here may cost a little more than normal self catering but the location plus the standard of accommodation and the hospitality and service I can honestly say ist is worth every penny and more - we will definitely be booking again

This is our second stay at Belchamp Hall Stables, truly idyllic and full of charm and character with a modern twist. A location where you really feel you can get away from it all. As before the host was helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.

My husband & I decided to book somewhere for a restful weekend. Belchamp Hall Stables seemed to fit the bill and it did. It's great place to visit if your looking for a relaxing retreat. We were blessed with a warm weekend and plenty of sunshine.
The Stables accommodation was impressively designed with a big kitchen which had everything we needed, a large lounge area with lots of seating and a very comfortable super king-size bed.
Outside there was a large terrace with a view of the tennis court, gardens and nearby woods with very large trees. In the evening the sound of all the birds roosting in the trees was impressive. The peacocks on the estate also provided some entertainment strutting around, displaying their feathers and squawking. The noise was a bit of a surprise at first but did not detract from the general peaceful ambiance of the surroundings.
We did a few walks around the estate and visited the local church. A trip to Sudbury to visit the Gainsborough museum and house, and for shopping.
We really enjoyed our short stay and would definitely recommend Belchamp Hall Stables.

Belchamp Stables was the perfect Christmas getaway - upon arrival we opened the door to find a lovely Christmas tree which was a really thoughtful welcome.
The property was spotless and beautifully designed and very well equipped. Our week’s stay went without a hitch and we left totally relaxed and rested.
We’d certainly recommend this property to anyone.

We have visited Suffolk several times but stayed in the north of the county , this location between Essex and Suffolk allowed us to appreciate another side of the county. A beautiful location so peaceful and idyllic so much so we were lucky to add another night. Would recommend and will do so.

We really enjoyed our stay at Belchamp Stables. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was well appointed. We loved soaking in the tub! The sitting area was cosy and comfortable and the kitchen was well appointed. There was a huge private patio. It’s a shame the weather wasn’t warm enough for us to enjoy it.
We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this property.

Celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary in great surroundings, the accommodation was excellent and the environment peaceful. The owners are nearby if help is needed, if you want a stress free break we would recommend.

It is the 2nd time we have stayed and just love it. It is so nice to see the peacocks wandering around. Long Melford is close by and is lovely.

An enjoyable relaxing week in The Stables, Belchamp Hall
This is a beautiful comfortable property in wonderful surroundings. The large terrace is great for catching the evening sun . We enjoyed the walks in and around the grounds of the Hall.
Everything in the accommodation is of a very high standard.
You should be aware the property is very rural ,which we loved, but you can’t just pop to a shop if you if you forget something.
This is our second visit to Belchamp Hall and we would happily return.

English Opulence in Beautiful Countryside
Our Summer getaway to The Stables at Belchamp Hall was magical. We woke in the mornings to the sound of peacocks calling as they wondered the immaculate grounds and we made coffee in what can only be described as a 'Dream Kitchen'. In fact, we took advantage of the kitchen and even made a Sunday Roast during our stay!
When you arrive at Belchamp Hall, you pass beautiful villages and historic homes set in idyllic surroundings until you come upon a grand gated entrance. 'The Stables' themselves have been renovated in such a way that the hosts have found the perfect balance between old and new. The accommodation has all the luxury of high thread count sheets, rolltop tub and modern appliances while retaining the charm of original architecture, fine antique furniture and lovely little nods to the buildings previous use.
Large doors open out to the private terrace, though you do share this with the occasional peacock showing off his tail feathers. They're very friendly and tend to like wondering by. The tennis courts, ponds and well manicured gardens add to the feeling of total tranquility. We were able to enjoy picnics and bbq's during our stay.
The hosts were quite simply wonderful. They allowed us the privacy of checking ourselves in and exploring but were keen to greet us when we saw them around the grounds and were always on hand to help with any little requests we had. Charlie and his family were so friendly and made us feel like old friends.
The town of Sudbury nearby has so much charm and all the amenities you could need. We even ordered pizza to The Stables on our first night! There are plenty of lovely little walks near to the property also and we explored the woods, fields and historical landmarks in the area.
The accommodation is breezy and bright on sunny days and cozy and spacious when you're sheltering on rainy or cold days. You have so much space, a plethora of books to read and a smart TV so there's plenty to keep you occupied. We made the most of the 'Alexa' and enjoyed music while we cooked and talked.
We would happily return to Belchamp Hall in the future and want to thank Charlie so much for making our stay so memorable. We highly recommend 'The Stables' and found it to be one of our favourite English escapes ever.
We miss this home from home already!

Val, Marc and Merlin the dog!
We had a magical and delightful week in Belchamp Hall Stables. What a beautiful property and such a wonderful walled garden, which Merlin the dog very much enjoyed!
The property was well-equipped and we had everything we needed for our stay. We couldn't think of anything that could improve such a lovely holiday.
Thank you for your hospitality and we will certainly return.

A place of peace and perfection
Greeted by a pride of peacocks, our seven days spent in this wonderful up market conversion were idyllic. The layout, high end fixtures and fittings, everything needed is provided. In 50 years of self catering holidays this has to be one of the finest venues anywhere.

Away from it all
This was a lovely property away from the hustle and bustle which was what we wanted. It was a very comfortable and luxurious stay and we loved the character. The bed was super comfortable. The hamper was lovely welcome. It would perhaps benefit from a draft excluder but this was perhaps only obvious because it was so windy. Despite this we still give it a 5*.

Resting break away in full comfort
Lovely place in full comfort if you want a break away from everything. Great place with high equipment level & comfort (bed, bathroom, kitchen,…). Nice countryside but a bit far from anything via the lanes..,
