Spout on bath falling out of the wall. Cold air coming in around door and heater took half the night to warm up the room. To top it off the fire alarm started going off at 3am

I gave this hotel an overall rating of one star. Not because I stayed there and was not satisfied with the room, but because the hotel refused to let us stay there. I booked it through hotels.com and after a long day at the hospital with a sick loved one I was told I couldn’t stay there because I didn’t live 60 or more miles from the hotel. I live 57 miles away. We were informed this by a very unapologetic young man that examined my ID for several minutes and then told us we couldn’t stay there.
We left and had to find another hotel late that night. I assumed that I wouldn’t be charged since I had not paid for the room, but instead we were charged. I called the number from the email, which turned out to be Red Roof Inn. The lady that answered told me I would have to contact hotels.com even though red roof inn had charged me. After searching for a number for hotels.com, which evidently doesn’t exist, I found a chat box and was able to speak to someone and supposedly am supposed to get a refund. I hope I do get the refund but overall I’m very disappointed with red roof inn and hotels.com. What kind of hotel refuses to let someone stay because they don’t live far enough away. We were only told that this was their policy and no other reason or excuse was given. I’m very disappointed in the policy and the lack of human compassion. This hotel is close to a hospital and obviously we can’t depend on the red roof in so we can stay close to a loved one.

The lady at the front desk was very friendly, beds were comfortable and the breakfast was pretty good. The building is older but the room was clean and mostly updated.

Booked for 3 nights for work.. checked in no issues. Middle of the night I get a call that they are not able to keep their end of the bargain and that I need to find another hotel for the following 2 nights.. I’m working 12hr shifts in a no cell service area so I spend the next 1.5 hrs searching for a suitable replacement that’s not gonna cost a ton. Ended up another 35-40 minutes further away from the job site turning my already 13 hr day into a 14 hr day.. I booked a week in advance just to ensure I didnt have any issues and they called at 10-1030pm to cancel on me… will never recommend or stay at this location again..

We were on a 15 day road trip and we stayed at different hotels each day and this was the worst place we stayed in .
The door of our room won’t lock from inside .
Fridge wasn’t working.
Microwave wasn’t working .
The bath tub drainage was blocked.
The night staff just said ‘ok’ when we said things aren’t working in our room . Nothing else .

The pictures on the page are fake, the rooms have ripped, stinky, wet and spotty carpet, the doors are bent so it does not close properly and let's daylight through. The tub had hair from previous person, the sink was dirty, the carpet was missing in the treshhold between the bathroom and the room and the racks that hold the carpet are exposed and if you step on them by accident then you're bleeding. Really bad experience.

This hotel is in terrible shape... There was no coffee maker, coffee, sugar, creamer. The updates were done by less than qualified personnel. The breakfast was not worth eating, there was no Wi-Fi.
The only saving grace was that the room was as clean as could be expected.
I encourage you to make your reservations somewhere else!!

This hotel has a policy of not checking in visitors who live within a 60 radius. A family who came to Kingsport for a graduation, was turned away. This should be mentioned on their website.

I was refused a room because I didn't live out of a 60 mile radius. I had surgery so decided to stay in kingsport overnight as I had recheck next day. Got to motel and was denied. Never heard of this. Not sure if motel or Hotels.com submitted payment to my credit card company next day which has been disputed. This restriction should have been provided with motel description.

The hotel was comfortable. I expected a reading chair in the room and there wasn't one. But other than that the room was comfortable and clean. The rules about having your dog with you were contradictory and I think some additional thought might go into them.

Floor and room nasty, exhaust fan in bathroom didn’t work,hair dryer fell off the wall . Remote for tv would not work , Door safety latch about to fall off wall . I will never stay in red roof again .

The hotel was not as esthetically pleasing as the photos depicted. Our superior room accommodation was pretty basic. However, we did have a small microwave and refrigerator, which are always welcomed. This is the first Red Roof Inn we have visited that offered a breakfast. This was a plus. It was also pretty good for a freebie. The curtains, sofa and bench in our unit need to be updated. The paint job in our unit (Room132) was terrible. I would probably opt for another hotel on a subsequent visit; but this served the purpose for our one-night stayover.

Apparently the AC unit was leaking water. There was so much moisture in the room that my clothes and shoes and everything else were damp. Water was seeping up from the hardwood floor all over the room. Other than that issue, the room was clean. The breakfast buffet had a good selection.

We stayed in room 125 within the last week, trim was falling off the baseboard next to the bed. the floors were still dirty, there was a sock next to the bed noticed the next am, the tub was not clean at all, the faucet for the tub was loose and felt as if it wanted to break and the room smelled like a turtletank. then when we woke up we discovered mystery stains all over the white sheets. I didn't even dare to use the creepy middle blanked as who knows when it was washed last. The "neighbors" who seem to live there (since there were grills and stuff setup up everywhere) were sus as can be. Seemed to have an outbreak of methskeeto bites. was glad to have all the tires on the car then next morning since they were brand new. I was thinking it was going to be decent for the price after all it was a 8.0 rating in 2015... lol
forgot to add about the mildew issues on the floors and walls. would not recommend even as a HIDEOUT if you escape a local prison as odds are you will get killed by tenants.

You can’t rent if you’re within a 60 mile radius. So for those of us that are moving, and have a uhaul full of stuff for a move to another state, this is not an option.

This place has made a lot of changes over the years. I was surprised the facilities were clean, staff was nice and there was a hot breakfast! This was a winner in my books. Beds were super comfortable! I will stay here again. Downside is the plumbing is older. I can live with that.
