Room on 14th floor was very spacious and clean. Bathroom and shower excellent. Breakfast buffet was amazing. The property is near various small restaurants and Lawson supermarket.
Handy cafe-restaurant on ground floor, always very crowded at lunch time.

Beautiful hotel. Staff are amazing - can’t do enough for you & very polite. Well located.
We didn’t eat there or use any facilities but our stay was excellent.

My stay was great. The staff was courteous and attentive. The room was large and fresh. The hotel is well-maintainer. The area around was walkable with lots of options to do as well. I look forward to staying again at Okura!

nice roomy space of the room. There is a tub in addition to the shower. They had bathsalt every day, I could soak myself in and relax. The hotel staff are professional and efficient. They above and beyond to help their guests. Typhoon 10 was slowly approaching yet the hotel was unflustered and continued to serve their guests with the utmost respect and efficiency. Overall, a wonderful hotel to stay at. Kudos to all the staff.

Really nice hotel in a great location in the modern area with many restaurants and shops but just across the river from the older area with many of the shrines and temples. Mattress was a little firm, but that seems to be the norm in Asia.

The hotel is quite dated but rooms are spacious. You have to pay extra for the hotel fitness centre which was disappointing as we booked this hotel because it had listed a gym as a facility. Staff were friendly, and location fine.

What can one say about The Kyoto Okura? Par excellence - the hotel, the staff, the location. Leaves nothing to be desired. Will be very difficult to stay anywhere else were I to visit Kyoto again.

Great hotel near subway and shopping area. Food in hotel is expensive but a lot of other options near by

A very good hotel from all aspects except that lack of response to questions after booking prior to the arrival. The hotel has a lounge in Kyoto train station with every 30minutes shuttle service to the hotel. However, this is not mentioned either on its website or the booking package, even when I sent my inquiry via Expedia 10 hours prior to my arrival. This seems to be lack of professional commitment. When I brought this up on check in, I was only told sorry for the inconvenience.

Vénérable Okura, à bit old but still the. Okura.

The staff was wonderful. At first i was hesitant for an upgraded room by front desk but took it and the view was stunning and did not disappoint of the Eastern part of town as well the Kamo River. The subway station is directly under the hotel so if you need to catch a subway train or need to get off at a station near you, it will be conveniently under your hotel which also doubles as a shopping mall and connects to the shops underground in the subway station. It is literally a 15 min walk to Gion, right next to City Hall, a block away from the Teramachi Street market which also leads to the Nishiki Market Street and a 20 min walk to the Yasaka Shrine which leads you to Maruyama Park to the Ryozan Kannon, the Tō-ji Temple and the Kiyomizu-dera monastery. If I return to Japan, this is definitely the go to spot for me now

The front desk and captains were very polite to receiving us and very efficient in arranging taxi transportation for us during our short three days stay. The property structure was immense and the lighting was deemed and hard to walk around in the basement area, especially in early hours!

The Okura is a Great hotel and the service was excellent. Staff very friendly and customer oriented.
However the hotel needs to be refurbished urgently and requires some modifications if the brand wants to maintain it’s reputation as one of the great hotels in Japan.

Staff was very helpful.
Property needs some refurbishing, especially the lobby area is very dull and not a comfortable meeting point.

Classic yet high-end level hotel. Will stay again.

Great staff and service, location is very good and there is a shuttle bus to/from hotel to Kyoto Station. Interior decor has a bit vintage style. Medium size step up to the bathroom in our room was strange - could be a trip hazard or accessibility issue.

It was an absolute pleasure staying at Hotel Okura Kyoto. I was in Kyoto for one day. The concierge was fantastic at providing details on the best sites to see and how to get to them. I will definitely be staying here again!

This was our favorite hotel during our 10 day trip thru Japan.
First of all, the hotel allow you to adjust the temperature in your room below 20C, which was not the case in the other hotels we stayed at. You had to stay in suites or complain to the front desk, but I found it very annoying. It was not a problem here.
Anyhow, the rooms were large, clean and beautiful. The staff was polite and very helpful and food in the restaurant was good. The hotel was located in a good spot to get to the trains and other sights by foot. Very nice hotel, well priced for what you got and I would stay here if I visited Kyoto again.
