The Chateau Frontenac never disappoints!! The amazing lobby lined with decorative Christmas trees to the phenomenal architecture. Its central location to all shops, restaurants and bars as well as all these things right in your hotel. Quebec City is a go to destination for any occasion. We will return again next November for our annual ladies weekend!

So I booked this hotel for my mother daughter trip last month to treat my mom for her 70th birthday after finding out that this was the most famous luxury hotel in Quebec City. It is true that this hotel has quite the history and is historic in nature. The architecture of the building is quite striking and it makes sense why it is one of the most photographed hotels in the world. The public areas are also quite nice, especially the Bistro le Sam and Le Champlain restaurants on the lobby level. The pool area was OK. Quite large but looks run down. The guestrooms and corridors are in need of a major renovation. I’ve never stayed in a more run down room in my life. The carpet was dingy and frayed. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls, the rooms smelled musty, the bathrooms are ridiculously small and uncomfortable (great Le Labo products though), the room didn’t have robes or slippers as advertised, the HVAC system has a loud screeching sound when it cycles off and woke us up various times throughout the night, the housekeeping team were obnoxiously loud and would start opening and slamming guestroom doors at 5am and bang around their vacuums into walls. Just awful. In addition, we were given a room with a view that was just actually a view of the construction site across the street where we could hear construction noise. We asked to move rooms or check out and move to a different hotel and they begrudgingly moved us to a different room. New room was more comfy but dingy.

The staff was super friendly and professional from check in to checkout-great recommendations for dinners, tours, etc. If you are visiting Quebec City, this is the place to stay-perfect location.

OMG. This is a fabulous hotel. Everyone is so friendly. The housekeeper made animals out of towels each morning and left them on our bed. The fall weather was incredible, and we can't wait to return in winter.

It was a beautiful stay at the famous fairmont. We were delighted with the hospitality of the staffs. They were most professional and thoughtful.

The staff is peerless. They succeed in delivering a level and style of service that has become almost unknown today. Add the magnificent hotel itself and the dazzling history of Quebec envelopes guests in a time and style most pleasant and comfortable; and very, very rare.

We knew that the Fairmont was a tourist destination when we booked our room, but its reputation and location trumped our common sense. What a mistake. The parking situation is chaotic. The lobby is so crowded it is difficult to walk through (apparently the gold mailbox by the elevators is a must-see for many). Our "upgraded" room with a "city" view was an absolute joke. Not only was it tiny, half of it was obscured by condensation (and was before it started raining). See photo. DO NOT PAY EXTRA FOR A VIEW!!! I felt like a fool. My husband uses a motorized scooter and the elevator doors shut on him and knocked him over. We also discovered that you can't take motorized scooters on the funicular any more so we weren't able to visit Petite Champlain. Quite disappointed. We weren't able to get into either of the on-site restaurants, although we got into the Bistro bar. The bar is beautiful and I would recommend stopping in for a drink if you get a chance. And book ahead if you want to eat in the restaurants. Although we found several restaurants close by that we enjoyed. Overall, I just can't can't recommend staying at this tourist trap. It felt like all they wanted was your money and the service was very mixed.

Fabulous hotel!

Stayed here for 1 night to experience this famous iconic hotel. Although the room is rather small, it is still ok for us. The staff are very friendly! The surrounding area is really pretty with plenty of shopping and restaurants.

Excellent location. Great hospitality, the hotel was beautiful. Everything was wonderful except our room was just too small. We couldn’t comfortably even walk around the room.

Everything accessible and near to the hotel. Amazing service and very clean. Staff is very attentive and helpful. We love the city is like yoy are transported to Europe.

Staff are cordial and eager to assist places to visit, have dinner as well as recommendations.

We had a fabulous time at the Chateau Frontenac. The only draw-back is the lack of accessibility to the hotel restaurants and main lobby bar - Either they were NOT open (during the day) or too full to allow hotel guests.

I hadn’t been to the Chateau Frontenac for about 5 years and it was even better than before. Room was large and updated and bathroom was luxurious. Great bath products.

It was my first experience of Fairmont and I was little disappointed with my staying mostly because of the room condition and cleanliness. I always thought the Fairmont is luxurious high end hotel brand in Canada. But the room was very average and wasn’t clean. I could see obvious marks on the bed sheet, water mark on table, some dirts in a cabinet drawer, and bathroom tiles were dirty. However, the staff & services were excellent and clearly different from other hotel brands.

The Chateau can be seen from pretty much anywhere in the city, sitting high up with its beautiful architecture. We had an amazing view from our room which was very tastefully furnished. Friendly, helpful staff meant our stay was relaxing and stress free.

This is a beautiful and historic property. We enjoyed our stay and only had two small issues. There were dirty coffee cups left in the wet bar and the soap dispenser in the shower was empty. When brought to attention of staff they were quickly addressed.

Beautiful property and close to everything. It is super busy all the time. Most of the staff were amazing but some seemed a little short in conversation and annoyed. Concierge one time asked if I had a quick question only and Valet asked me to wait in an annoying way. They seem a little overworked or maybe because it was September and the end of their contract for the summer with the hotel. Free 2hr walking tour included which was great! Tried to upgrade and they put us in a room with a "port hole" size window. Asked for our original room back which was totally fine.

For the price, it was too run down in hallways and room amenities

The Frontenac is definitely a fancy hotel, right in the center of old Quebec. However, I have some major complaints. At about $1000 US per night, we will not return to the Frontenac. Avoid this hotel. We stayed on the 18th floor, with a river view, one of the best rooms I think. First problem: The hotel is lit outside all night with floodlights. The lights cause a few problems. During warm nights, the lights attract insects, which attract spiders. Thus, looking out each of our three windows, there were huge spider webs with disturbingly large spiders. Though the windows were closed, some of those disturbing spiders wound up inside the room. We killed three of them in two days. And, the floodlights shine in the windows all night. Solution: turn off the floodlights during the warm months after 10 pm. Second problem: this is a dog friendly hotel. At some times, the lobby looks like a dog park. Solution: an expensive hotel should not be pet friendly at all. Third problem: They not only allow, but also encourage, tourists. The lobbies are overcrowded with tours and visitors. Not even a place was left to sit while waiting for our room to be readied. And when it rains, everyone rushes in from the street. Solution: do not allow tours and tourists.
