Amazing property. Well worth a visit.

Amazing activities and superb surroundings! The Abbaye is stunning. Breakfast is amazing, as well as the afternoon snack. The kids were in paradise with so many things to do. The Gaming room is a massive hit as well as the cinema, and the heated pool. Overall this is an amazing property

We booked the stay on short notice. Immediately we took an Uber taxi from Paris, and just after departure the hotel manager called me on the phone to notify that the in-house restaurant was fully booked, and offered me to cancel the stay.
He mentioned that there were some restaurants in a nearby village, one of them being a gourmet place. We accepted his offer to reserve a table there. Very good service!
The room was nice with a large bed and a view over the park and lake. Old style bathroom with antique paintings on the walls. Towel dryer. One drawback; nowhere to put the shower nozzle on painted the wall.
The common areas, such as the bar and the breakfast room, are wonderful places with antique furniture and they are really spacious. Breakfast can be taken outside on the terrace.
Side note: the taxi trips to the restaurant in the village were very expensive as they charged also for coming to pick you up (19-39 EUR). We spent around 120 EUR on taxi that evening. Conclusion, book your meals at the abbey or drive your own car.

The place is honestly beautiful. The building, the landscape, the walking path are truely special. However I have to say that the service was lacking. When checking in, the host wasn’t really paying attention. I thought it was my bad french as to why I didn’t understand but even with a native French Speaker he wasn’t clear. Asking for directions to the tennis court, the lady mumbled something and we got lost. They didn’t explain that breakfast would be an extra cost. Even taking an apéro before dinner, thé café host wasn’t really welcoming. And lastly, They emailed me to ask about reserving dinner—I emailed them back twice but no one responded. For the price paid, I think it would better to stay somewhere else and come for a day to visit.

Very nice couple running this bed and breakfast. Good dinner. But disappointed with reception at arrival.

We came for an afternoon at the pool and were very disappointed to find it closed due to the virus. The hotel is lovely and the grounds are extraordinary. It may be the first hotel that is prettier than in the pictures. As the pool was closed, it's a shame there were no lounge chairs elsewhere... The room was lovely, no television which we could understand but the wifi was not good and there is no telephone network at all in the room. the restaurant was excellent, the service a bit slow but we enjoyed our evening.

Great old building, extensive grounds. Food is superb and service very attentive. Great location.

We were told upon arrival that the restaurant was full and it was unlikely we could get room service. It is a beautiful and lovely hotel but a couple of miles from the next village which had limited eating opportunities. In the end we had buy sandwiches and salads from a local shop. It may be nice to contact people who are booked to see if they want to eat in the restaurant. We had been travelling for 5 hours and needed to rest and refresh.

The hotel’s restaurant was fully booked and they didn’t offer room service (even though it’s stated in Expedia page that they do). No other food was available so I was forced to drive to Rambouillet.
My room didn’t have a bath, only a small shower which was throwing water all over the place! (Needless to say, if you look at Chambres Moines description, you’ll find Bathtub!) - the concierge offered an “upgrade” from double to single room with a bathtub.
No TVs in the rooms.
As a cherry on the cake, the hotel tried to charge me twice for the tax.
Overall, staff very unhelpful, hotel lacks basic amenities and description differs significantly from reality. Avoid like plague!

We went on a 2-day trip into the Chevreuse valley and - despite lousy weather - had a memorable stay at the Abbaye de Vaux-le-Cernay. We had a great room, with a nice (albeit a bit dated) decoration, the ambiance of a 18-th century French Chateau, a great bar/tea room with open fireplaces and a truly amazing 5-course dinner. The hotel is not perfect, the decoration and paint could need a bit refreshment here and there, there are plugs and cables hanging around where they should not, the - beautiful - upholstery, wooden floors and tapestry are a bit worn here and there, but somehow all this makes the charm of the Abbey. We were very much positively surprised by the food: the "Table du prieur" was just a perfect experience, we had the full-blown French menu, and the cuisine was close to perfection, the cadre is extremely beautiful, the service was very good, the wine-cellar full of good references and the diner overall a memorable experience. A good destination if you are into taking a walk and enjoying a great yet gorgeously imperfect hotel.

Over priced for the room you get! They really over sell the abby which is cool to visit but to stay? No TV, asked for twins beds and got a queen, went change it? Shower tub had no overhead head for shower with no curtain to hold water in. Service was very dissappointing too. Breakfast was below average to poor....

The welcome at reception was not great - and when Im trying to speak French, maybe not perfectly, I like an appreciation that Im trying not a patronising response. The room had spectacular views, WiFi was poor. Afternoon tea would have been nice - but with only four teas on the list, having two unavailable was surprising for what is clearly a quality establishment. The restaurant is swish with top quality service - so a wobbly table which I had to ask to be sorted out after the candle fell out of its holder was a surprise. The food was superbly cooked and presented. There was an amazing cheese chariot - and a good, but entirely French wine list. Dinner is an expensive business so if youre travelling on a budget you may wish to source somewhere else to eat. Breakfast was a huge spread of most things French and European to please every palate!

Staff in reception caused a lot of confusion over my booking, which was eventually sorted without any apology. In addition, they were unwelcoming, slow, not well organised or responsive, and complacent. The food in the restaurant was excellent but the service, again, did not quite match. Our junior suite was quite disappointing. Apart from its large size, the decor was outdated and the condition of the room was poor. Cleanliness was questionable as the separate cubicle toilet was very smelly. Comfort was sub-optimal.

Where to start? LAbbaye is a hotel in a spectacular setting. Its in an old Cistercian Abbey with a lake, gorgeous grounds, a beautiful series of buildings. Its incredibly atmospheric really well maintained and in a beautiful part of rural France, but not so far from Paris. I was attending a wedding and stayed there one night in a standard double room in the Priory overlooking the lake (a garden room). The day was amazing and seemed to run like clockwork.I do have a slight reservation about recommending this hotel completely. It is a pretty expensive place to stay and the location is fantastic and its obviously a very old building, but the room was a little quirky, there was only a hand held shower in the bath, the toilet was separate with no hand basin (so you had to go through the bedroom into the bathroom), there was no tv (I was fine with this but husband who was desperate to watch football, less so). The service I received from staff did not match the level the hotel was aspiring to - I asked for an iron which seemed to flummox them and was brought just an iron, no board and a rather city instruction that I should bring it back to reception promptly. They were particularly unhelpful when our taxi didnt turn up to take us to the train station 15km away.So all-in-all it was a spectacular experience but in a couple of areas they could do better.

The sailing was repainted....BUT Not fully ...Only part of it.(Not Pro)
A lot Spider web
Water evacuation in bathtub not working well..
And WIFI.. NOT WORKING most of the time!!
The service outside for a drink can be a lot better..
I m sad ...this establishment should be perfect..
But its what it is.
Even when you tell at the front desk what is wrong;
Its like...You are talking to a wall..

This is an incredible site and the personnel is wonderful. However, we felt the rooms and hallways need to be brought up to par with their surroundings,

A wonderful set of buildings in a very attractive setting. We arrived to find one room as reserved, the other on a different floor, far away and of an inferior standard. The rooms are in need of an update and the walls of ours (in the main building, too) were so thin that we were woken by our neighbours coughing and could hear them when they chatted. The service was very variable; from the sort of friendliness you would expect in any hotel to downright indifference and monosyllabic answers. Dont arrive between 12.30 to 1.30 hoping to get something to eat, by the way. If you havent made a previous reservation in the formal dining room, you will go hungry. With great reluctance they agreed to make us a couple of club sandwiches, and made us wait an hour for them. We heard one group of visitors raging about the poor management and service so it really wasnt just us.

Under the same category there are different rooms. The first room we got was far from what we expected and paid for. When we checked that with the reception we got a better room, still nothing like we expected based on the information in the web.

We absolutely loved this place. It was so very beautiful. Service was great and dinner in the dining room was one of the most memorable experiences. We plan on coming back and spending much more time. Excellent value, service, so beautiful!

Such an excellent place to stay. It needs some work but cant compare to staying somewhere more modern. If you are looking for a historic place to stay in a nice village outside of Paris, the Abbaye is where you should stay.

This was our last overnight stop in a long motor tour before heading for Dieppe. We needed a decent meal and a good night's rest. We had neither. With much shrugging of shoulders we were told the restaurant was not available to us as the hotel was hosting no fewer than three wedding receptions that night. On retiring after a meal in the village Chinese restaurant the discos began and ran through the early hours. We expected more than scenery from a hotel of this calibre.
