Amazing hotel on the Reuss river. Room was beautifully decorated, gorgeous lighting and details. The downside was that the room was small and the bed could have been better. But my little balcony was superb for having tea and watching the tourists cross the bridges. I found the dining room too crowded so I found quieter places to eat nearby. Room service breakfast was superb. My only criticism is that there was no comfortable sitting room in which longer stay guests could curl up with a book. The club chairs did not invite chilling out with a coffee or tea. I would absolutely stay again at this little jewel box of a hotel.

This was an exceptionally nice hotel in the perfect location. Just a short walk from the train station and close to everything. My husband and I enjoyed a romantic 2 days in this gorgeous little city. We took the train to Mt. Pilatus and really enjoyed the cheese fondue locally. The room was spacious and elegant. The bedding was very comfortable.

The room was spacious and it had wonderful views of the tower bridge and the Jesuit baroque church. My husband also enjoyed sitting out in the balcony.

There is a construction site in front of the hotel. Had I known I would not have booked here. First morning I thought I had woken up on the tarmac of a busy airport. They moved me to a quieter room next day, but I would make sure you are not anywhere near this construction. As to the rooms they are not that great, so/so given this hotels cost and class I would have thought it would have been much nicer. Hotel restaurant gets high ratings, service was good, but the best food is found outside of Lucerne outside of the tourist area....This hotel is close to the Train / Bus/ Boat station so you can do excursions on Lake Luzern and go to the mountains which are fantastic/amazing. Daytime front office staff was nice.

Stayed 2 nights and enjoyed the views, comfortable bed
and attentive staff. We appreciated the water and ice machine on each floor and air conditioning. The umbrella came in handy a few times too. We would definitely stay here again.

Excellent hotel - in the center of Old Town. Clean, spacious room with a River view & balcony. Staff was helpful with my questions when planning excursions and coordinating dinner reservations at Balances. Highly recommend!

Avoid at all cost! No a/c, no screens on windows, but if you open a window to avoid a cramped, hot room, you have no privacy from the street. Close blinds and shades for privacy, the room gets overheated. Glass bathroom wall offers limited privacy and lights up the room if one goes to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Old and grungy carpeting and concrete bathrooms with no tiles
Service is awful in the breakfast room and front desk, nasty staff - no manager on duty on weekends if you have a problem, so you deal with clueless kids on duty. Avoid, avoid, avoid!

Great stay in Lucerne. Beautiful hotel and wonderful service. We booked a day trip from the front desk to Mt Pilatus which was very memorable. The room and the view from the balcony was incredible. Breakfast was flawless each morning with dedicated service to make the stay special.

Staying at Hotel Des Balances in Lucerne was an absolute delight. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by its charming atmosphere and warm hospitality. The view of the Reuss River and the iconic Kapellbrücke from my room was simply breathtaking. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and memorable, and the attention to detail in the elegant décor was impressive. Dining at the hotel’s restaurant was a culinary experience I won’t soon forget, with delicious dishes served in a picturesque setting (Michelin star). Overall, my time at Hotel Des Balances nothing short of magical and looking forward to returning.

One of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed in! Really made us love Lucerne right off the bat. If you can get a room with a river facing view- you need to! Could’ve spent all day on the balcony.

Loved our stay at hotel des balances, the location is fabulous yet quiet. The hotel is excellent but for the price point I had expected a slightly larger room, newer bathroom (not a shower/tub combo) and a fitness facility.

Hotel Des Balances is an excellent hotel. We had a room with a terrace where we enjoyed a beautiful view of the river and the iconic bridge, the blue lake, the mountains and of course the city. The hotel restaurant was very good. The room was clean, the staff were very accommodating. We felt safe getting lost in this beautiful city. We’ll stay here again when we go back to Lucerne. Thank you!

The experience of the hotel and the location was beautiful. I felt I was living in a postcard! I booked the double room and it was perfect. The food at hotel was spectacular. The bed in the double room was a king and there was plenty of room to walk and not bump into a piece of furniture. Can’t wait to come back!
