The hotel is spectacular. If you're looking for a quiet place with great facilities, this is your hotel in Hamburg. The staff service is also very good.
The hotel is not exactly in the city center, but within a 15-20 minute walk, you can reach the central area.

I arrived at 4 PM and was told my room wouldn’t be ready for another 45 minutes. I came to Hamburg to visit my grandma in the hospital and would only be here for one night so this was incredibly frustrating. I had to unpack a change of clothes from my luggage in the lobby and then go to the spa to change. Once I returned they offered me a room on the 1st floor which was designed for someone in a wheel chair, so all the countertops were uncomfortably low. At this point I was so late to get to the hospital I felt forced to take it. Very bad experience and I will not be back again because of it.

Our family had an absolutely perfect experience at The Fontenay. What set this experience and hotel apart from the rest, is the attention to detail in each step of our stay, from the hospitality of the team to the polished atmosphere and delicious bites. Everyone has been so welcoming however a special highlight to Lukas Sarnow. He has been so above and beyond and every second of our stay. He is the embodiment of GREAT HOSPITALITY. His patience, his attitude, his knowledge, his gentle manner have been a delight. If you are planning a trip to Hamburg you should definitely consider The Fontenay.

Outstanding property overall and this was our third stay in a year! The one issue that we found relates to the “family policy” of allowing screaming kids, even under 10 years old, in the spa area including the sauna and steam room, until closing at 10PM !! This policy definitely needs to change with a time limit for kids accessing the spa / pool area to maximum 20h in order to allow adults relaxing quiet time to enjoy!

In my opinion the best 5-star hotel in Hamburg. The FONTENAY is characterized by modernity and luxury. The hotel offers everything from modern, well-kept rooms to the outstanding SPA area with treatments. I really liked the architecture of the building and the smart home controls for the building automation.

I loved this hotel and everything about it. Especially the service minded staff that really treated us well while being personal. The only downside was the pool that was rather cold to swim in - after all they have a nice outdoor area (which obviously must cool the water). All in all, a true five star experience.

It was uniquely placed right by a very easy jogging, walking , and cycling route and near the water. The building itself is the most aesthetically pleasing design with beautiful windows everywhere. I really don’t know how to put it in words but it was the best hotel so far of the many 5 star hotels I have stayed at.

Beautiful modern hotel in arguably the best residential area in Hamburg , right on the Alster lake. Fantastic choice at breakfast , hot dishes are prepared in the kitchen and delivered to your table piping hot which is not always the case with a buffet. Freshly made carrot and apple juice. Light switches in the room are very modern and not easy to operate Very expensive dining but fresh ingredients and value for money if you can afford it

Reception was excellent, even escorting us to our room. The room was a good and included a balcony. We appreciated the welcome gifts, and the turndown evening service which seems from a bygone era!
We are nitpicking but were frustrated eggs and bacon were hard unless specifically asked for different.

Property is superbly located on the Aussenalster in Hamburg. Wonderful walks around the lake, superb connectivity to the inner city, and the short distance from.Eppendorf. My only beef is that the gym doesn’t open up early in the morning.

The suites are really well done with great attention to detail. Shower had light show and music. Good materials used throughout, room service was effective. Staff were friendly and competent. These days $950 a night for a suite doesn’t get you that much, at the Fontenay it gets you what it used to get you.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for 2 days. It´s an amazing new modern hotel. We loved the stay and will be back again. The service in Parkview restaurant was superb both morning and evening. The service is high (5 Star). The staff is very friendly and serviceminded. My wifes bikini got ruined in the pool, that was a little weird..But we survive and come back again. There was a loud noise both nights from around 00.30-3.30 (very strange) but I think it will we gone by next time we visit. It is one of our best stays ever. And we travel a lot both private and on business every year. This hotel is worth coming back to. So please visit and you will get the best stay.

Excellent accommodation, supportive staff (especially the lady’s at the spa were extremely helpful), beautiful pool, terrace and a breakfast to remember. We’re planning on booking another stay at The Fontaney rather sooner than later!

Where to start.. exceptional rooms, cleanliness beyond, enormous bed of top quality and service so good I forgot I was in Germany. Spa was brilliant, Park View restaurant food very good(did not try lake view). Was sad to leave

Bathroom well organized but the hair dryer was hard to find haha so keep looking if you think there isn't one. Loved walk in closet with full length mirror. Would def stay here again. Well located in great Hamburg neighborhood by the lake.
