Rooms are large and pretty much up to standard as expected for a basic hotel. Service staff don't have the courtesy to look up from their phone/computer to greet you. Parking is "available" but $25 or more per night on top of the room you are already paying for. Our supposedly upgraded room had a lovely big window with a concrete wall view. the next floor and above had a view of sorts.
Location is great. Close to some pretty cool eats and only a short walk to north terrace and the markets etc

This clearly was not the room we booked or even.looked like it but when.i.questoned it was told there was no.others.
The room.had a very small window looking.out 2 nothing , the carpet in the room was fraying the bathroom door looked warn .there was no safe though on a plus side the staff we great and helpful apart from moving rooms

Great location for what we needed, tv aerial was playing up so couldn’t watch anything. Room was very clean, was a bit musty but that went away after running aircon for a bit. Bathroom whilst not modern, it was very clean. We had some medical appts and motel allowed us to leave car longer than paid for, very grateful for that as would have been difficult to find a park where we were.

Comfortable! I would much prefer mugs rather than cups for a room Cuppa. Also there, one needs more than 4 small milk capsules.

It was a pretty good place to sta. Although some of the items in the room.need to be updated. Had to put a garbage can underneath the pipe in the bathroom sink to sop the leaking on the floor.

Old hotel nicely tidied up. Basic rooms, very clean. Good, cheap guest laundry. Great for the price.

Hotel was clean and safe. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel room was showing signs of wear and tear- worn or carpet, paint peeling off bathroom door, ceiling tiles no longer fitting well. Gaps between wall and ceiling. You get what you pay for. Not a four star hotel as advertised. Photos of room etc not indicative of real life. Would not stay here again, many hotels nearby for not much more price.

Great spot with everything close at hand. Staff are exceptional in that they go out of their way to make you feel at home. Positive experience all round, recommending to everybody.

Easy access to hospital staff were very helpful
Only thing we didn’t like was no fan in bathroom. Bathroom smelt so we needed to leave window open in room although it was cold

Taking into account the price, the room I rec iced was incredibly noisy.
I was on the first floor overlooking the car park.
The window did not shut fully so therefore anyone driving up the side street, parking in carpark as well as the clubs on the next street created noise.
Walls were paper thin. I could hear what felt like every other room have a shower, go to the toilet, slam their door etc.
I did not speak to management given it was an event weekend and didn't think there was anything they could do anyways.
1 power plug was broken and not operational.
Not even a toaster.
I would not recommend staying here if you want a relaxing sleep.

This is our second time staying at Riviera. We chose to stay here again as it is - well priced, clean and convenient. There wasn't anything in the same price range that met our needs. Cannot fault Riviera and would definitely stay again and recommend to others!

Great location at a reasonable cost. The reception staff were friendly. Easy access to tram or an easy walk into the CBD for shopping or for the Festival Theatre.
