Very quaint and affordable. Nicely stocked with kitchen supplies. I wasn't expecting so much of what this hotel offered so I was quite surprised. I thought it would be very noisy since it's located in a very busy setting in Waikiki so thanks to good soundproofing. All sorts of restaurants and shops in good walking distance. Totally recommend!

NO PARKING. Street parking is limited to 2 hrs only (free from 10pm-6am), so no sleeping in on your vacation. Bed pulls down from the closet, shower is small.

Depressing. If your life didn't turn out like you hopef this is where you would go. Dingy looking capets look like from 1970s. Furniture gross needs discarded. Staff overall unfriendly and not flexible; i felt unwelcome. Think section 8 property with top hotel rates but its not really a hotel its old condominiums rented by the day. Warning: Huge "resort" fees.

Great location in the middle of everything

The staff was good. The property is very outdated and it was hard to tell if the room, bathroom, and kitchen were clean because it was so outdated and worn out.

It was in the heart of the city

Great location. A bit noisy at night due to the nightclubs.

Close to bus line walking distance to many restaurants and shopping

The Banyan is centrally located, 10 minutes walk tc beach. Starbucks & McD & other restaurants nearby. Not a bad place.

Our room was just as depicted from the photos they shared online. Our only downfall was a roach larger than a quarter found on our last day. They provide minimal toiletries other than hand soap and a dial body wash. Security was always super friendly and the office staff was also kind.
For having such a high “resort fee” I feel they could update the rooms a bit. Our pulldown bed continued to hit the floor unless the bar underneath was at a certain level and the bedding was minimal. If you get cold at night, bring a blanket. The view from the walkway to your room showed an alleyway between the property and the sister site, it was a eyesore for sure.

Booked 6 months ago. Was given room on top of night club that starts thumping music at midnight and goes till 3:45am. Not happy. This ruined everything.

There were some cockroaches in our room and I didn’t like that we had to keep the same beach towels everyday.

Terrible service, they offered check in on the website if you miss the cut off but when we arrived we were told we were required to pay an extra $50 which was not communicated. We had no other options and decided to pay but it required security to call a third person to come and let you check in. When they called the third person she wasn’t available so we were told we couldn’t check in by the security guard. We were left to sleep outside the street with our luggage and wait until the front desk es opened at 7 am. Mind you it was raining and all other hotels were either fully booked or overpriced given the holiday weekend. When I asked for a refund the front desk receptionist she refused stating that the security officer should have offered us a second option which he didn’t. I would avoid this place at all costs unless you’re desperate and can check in before 10 pm. Otherwise good luck because you’ll be out on the streets.

A little dated but, for the price Its a great deal.

The Roberts shuttle refused to drop us off outside the hotel entrance but two blocks away. The reception experience was awful - the staff male staff member sat on his chair by the computer and did not face us and was hard to understand. The room was tidy but was not up to the standard of the hotel we had stayed at for the same tarrif a week before. The smell of Asian cooking drifted through the hotel. Luckily we were only there for two nights. Great location - less than memorable accomodation

Great location to everything in Waikiki.

A great place for walking to and from other things. The staff was also incredibly friendly and nice. Room was okay. I know it’s Hawaii but there were a few roaches in our room. There was no conditioner or lotion, just a body wash/shampoo combo in the wall. Our shower was sort of leaking and hot water fluctuated depending on if other people were showering near your room. You can check out things for the beach such as floaties, towels, etc. which is great! It does get a little noisy at night as you are right by the street and next to a nightclub. Overall, not too bad. The SUPER friendly staff were really great along with the location for shopping and foods!

The room itself was cute and comfortable, definitely a budget accommodation, with some smells and noise from nearby businesses but nothing too bad. The really bad thing about it was the surprise "resort fee"—this site won’t let me say how much but it was a lot, for my budget! I had paid in full in advance through hotels.com and then showed up to a very large surprise extra change (since I was staying a whole week). If I had known about that extra $35/day I would have just stayed at a nicer place for the price! This should absolutely be mentioned on hotels.com and figured into the final price. It's borderline a scam.

Very clean and quiet. Staff was helpful and great central location. Although an older building, filled with ohana love.

Overall good - staff (friendly and helpful), location outstanding to Waikiki Beach, shopping, food, and local markets/events. Room clean and sufficient for overnight stay (we were heading out on a cruise next day). Murphy bed was comfortable enough but difficult to get to go back in properly. Overall stay was good but was surprised at the high additional resort charge for a 1 night stay!

The property is quite outdated in that the rooms and building should be renovated/updated and thoroughly cleaned.

They will charge you late night check in fee if you don’t call in advance, it’s $50 dollars cash and if u refuse to pay, they won’t even give you the key, WORST HOTEL EVER

The location was great. Other than that terrible. I saw lots of cockraches in the room. Floors dirtiest I have ever seen.

Over all was excellent except the room is not all updated , we don’t have problem during the stay , except a little bit noisy from the club I think ! But other than every thing was perfect for me .

Third x to this smaller hotel for my stay in a very desirable location of Wakikee. Easy direct bus rte to/ from airport with small(enjoyable) kitchenette in room. Nothing fancy about hotel but very courteous employees. My only complaint would be the placement of tv. Hard to watch while in bed because of shelfing. Definitely will stay again

This is a very reasonably priced location two blocks away from waikiki beach.
helpful staff and owner cares about guests and property

Very noisy at night from the night club and very noisy in the morning with construction. Also we got there at 10:30 pm and we had to pay 50 dlls cash for them and to let us in.

Please understand this was just my experience. I hope yours is much better.
To start, I will say the area surrounding the hotel was top notch. Plenty of shopping, dining and you are not entirely too far from some of the best beaches in the nation. The staff were very friendly, as well.
My sole complaint was that there is absolutely no parking around the hotel. Yes, there was limited free parking across a busy street (the Ala Wai) but with thousands of people vying for the same few dozen spots...good luck.
There was construction which took spots during the day, the city placed meters that run 24/7 on the streets everywhere that was not a paid parking garage. I spent nights circling the hotel for nearly an hour, to park four blocks away, pay the max time (2 or 5 depending on where I parked) & walk to the hotel. Then, I had to wake up around 5am to beat the possible ticket or towing & either move to a different spot or drive around for the day.
There was an app Park Smarter or something like that, but their QR codes wouldn't register on my phone (it apparently works for others, just not me). This was just a series of unfortunate events, I hope you can avoid.
If you don't have a rental & will use Lyft or Uber, etc. this place is FANTASTIC!!! But if you intend to drive, find parking arrangements beforehand.

Old build but greatly situated in the heart of Waikiki,. Accessible to mall, food and beach

Friendly staff, after hours check in available for a fee. Room was exactly as described on hotels. Slight smoke odor from previous tenant. Very nice location for the price.

If you’re looking for a place to lay your head and still be within two blocks of Waikiki Beach, this is the place for you. There is a night club below that is loud, so unless you like lots of bass, bring ear plugs! It’s dated in a retro style, but functional! I would stay again and again! Very economical compared to others.

The photos of the room on the website is deceiving. It’s quite rubbed down such as the quality of the sofa and carpet was bad however, the shower stall was so outdated!!

Somewhat dated, but that seems to be the norm in Hawai’i. Rooms are clean and the staff are friendly and helpful, would definitely stay here again
