Beautiful room overlooking Melford Hall, food in restaurant was awesome also, along with the helpful and friendly staff - thank everyone

Excellent stay, huge room, very good breakfast options

Overall, it is a great stay. Downside is that they charge £15 for breakfast per person if you book through Expedia, which is not clear and the breakfast is not worth it; I had avocado and egg, it was a sour paste avocado not fresh.

Staff were great, very friendly and seemed like nothing is too much trouble. Rooms, bar and restaurant areas all furnished. decorated to high standard. Only downside is cleaning wasn't done to high standard (dirty bathroom floor), lots of dust on fittings etc and some general maintenance required to windows, blinds etc. But overall a lovely place to stay. Love their attitude to dogs too, if we stay again we would take our dog knowing it would be made very welcome !

Amazing hotel. The suite we stayed in was fabulous. The bathroom was spotless with a great shower. Eating in the hotel restaurant was a pleasure, the chef's creations were so tasty. Friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely come back.

Lovely hotel, comfortable room. Staff were friendly and the food was delicious.

Great location very quiet. Room, although on the snug size, was lovely. Food excellent. I’m dairy free and the chef adapted dishes.

Reservation was prepaid via Hotels.com but was charged again for accommodation by the hotel at check out. Didn't reslise this u til i checked my Amex statement. Awaiting a refund from hotel. This property is in sight of a beautiful Church which was spectacular at night. The room was lovely but the shower ran cold when we arrived late in the evening which was very disappointing, but the owner did provide a discount. The breakfast rates were confusing as they were one price for residents £15pp and different prices for non residents which again I wasn’t very pleased with. I think this hotel could do better on guest hospitality and pricing.

Staff - very attentive and helpful. Food - excellent. Room - impressively large, but tiny TV compared to the size of the room. En-suite could do with being updated (the shower over the bath leaked from the seal where it joined the bath). The stairs could do with vacuuming more often as bits on the day we arrived were still there when we left!

Fantastic room, very clean and well maintained. staff very helpful and pleasant and restaurant quality food amazing. Excellent value.

Comfortable base to explore the area and nice position next to a green and near the impressive Holy Trinity Church. No problems bringing a dog. Had a meal in the bar and the food was very good. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Okay apart from waking up very cold and discovering damp patch on the wall where rain had got though overnight had I pulled wallpaper would have come away in hand

Wonderful 'olde worlde' hotel in a lovely location. We only booked for 1 night stay on the day. Lovely clean hotel, rooms with lots of character and all the hotel and restaurant staff delightful.

Plenty of places of interest to visit, antique shops and eateries etc. The room we were given was on the top floor and left a little to be desired. There was not a great deal of space to squeeze past the bed and whilst superficially clean was in need of a thorough inspection (heavy dust/fluff on headboard, lamps etc). There were also two broken bulbs in the bathroom. Our evening dinner choice was a little unadventurous and plain although ingredients were of good quality. Breakfast was also very good and the staff tried hard. Overall a slightly disappointing one night stay although I suspect we were unlucky with that particular room.

Staff service and friendliness elevates this comfortable and well appointed hotel to an excellent level. Food is also very good. I feel that there are other similar hotels that offer better value if you pay the full hotel rates, but the reduced rate offered by Hotels.com was about right
