Clean. Friendly staff. 5min walk to train station and easy train ride yo San Fran. 30 minute walk to university. Bus stop right outside hotel - easy bus ride to university. 15 minute walk to downtown Berkeley. I’ve stayed here twice and the area is safe. Would definitely stay again.

The room was clean and bed was comfortable. Beyond that, not much to recommend it. Bathroom door did not fully close; fridge barely cold enough; smoke detector covered with plastic(!!); furnishings pretty beat up.

Found dirty shorts in one of the drawers. Had to ask for basic necessities since it was not found in the room. Basic toiletries, I.e. shampoo, soap, etc. Room smelled badly. Parking was incredibly tight. It was not a good experience at all.

I love that there was on site parking. The location was very good. The room itself was very clean, but it smelled of smoke upon arrival.
Plus, I assume bathroom window was open to get rid of the smell, but I was worried about the window locking properly, once smell went away.
The manager was extremely helpful and kind.
I would definitely stay here again.

Good experience overall. Good parking. Good interactions with management. Central location in Berkeley. Was able to sleep through the night even though The pillows and mattress were not as comfortable as I would like.

I couldnt believe it when I arrived. Total false advertising. Its a real DUMP, but in the pictures it looks like a nice hotel. No cockroaches, but thats about the best I can do to drege up a compliment

Nothing special. The room was ok a bit tired. Coffee maker. Just an average motel . Having a fridge was handy in the summer.

A place that has seen better days, in an area that is less than safe. Staff was very nice and helpful, but did make a point of telling us not to leave anything in our car because robberies are common. The place is old and run down, but management seems to be working hard to spiffy it up.

Though this is an older property, the rooms have been completely redone within the last 4 years. So the rooms look nice inside. There is a cold breakfast available, which we didn’t expect. The hotel is right next to a bus stop which was convenient for us - bus 52 and some others. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Walls and ceilings are thin. I heard the kids next door and the people above me. Not their fault-the room is no where near sound proof.
The person at the front was very nice and accommodating.
I had the corner room on the lower floor and there were no closet.

This hotel is a very good value for the cost (given its location). It is simple, but well-maintained and the rooms are well-equipped and feel 'fresh'. The area around the hotel is a bit uneven and not a place I would choose to spend any time. It is a 10-15 minute walk from a much more lively area, coffee shops, and BART. Buses just in front of the hotel if walking is unwelcome.

A good spot for a quick visit to the University and want to keep to a budget. Check towels get changed as ours were damp but otherwise what you would expect at a lower rated motel and priced accordingly

I hate Wyndham but we’ve stayed at this Howard Johnson twice and it’s decent. It’s clean and remodeled and has been quiet both times. Parking is very cramped and a little limited, but fine. Nice staff. Rooms and bathrooms are small but fine. Appreciate the fridge and microwave. Overall a decent place to stay for something relatively affordable.

Basic no frills motel room. TV did not work. Had frig and microwave which we did not use. Stayed overnight after seeing concert at the Greek Theater. Convenient for that.

Thin walls. Hear everything happening around you. Room was clean and comfortable though. Tv dated. Plenty of sink space. Shower head was tiny with low pressure. When it comes to safety, daytime was fine but night time be wary. Had a scary encounter. Lots of homeless in the area day and night.

Nice hotel. Manager and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms are very clean and have been newly remodeled, but are small, and awkwardly shaped. Floors have no carpet, but use vinyl planking flooring instead, which was new and clean but makes the room hard and cold. Furnishing are not the highest quality but are fsirly new and in good condition. Would stay again if the price isn’t too high.
